Prefect for an up north getaway. Will be booking again in the future. Property was clean, well taken care of, host was super helpful and responsive. Great location.
The cabin was cozy. However you could only open the bathroom window. The couch was very hard and the bed was uncomfortable. It is in a nice location
The area is quite and not too far from town
it was smaller than I thought it would be. Definitely need some repairs. The cleaning lady needs to be a little more diligent. Overall Tawas is beautiful and we enjoyed our stay

Just ok
Site not what I expected from the pictures. I wouldn’t take a shower in that cabin. Shower looks dirty and grimy. Curtains are too thin for privacy. To noisy because of the road. We won’t be back.
Loved the place, and that it had a refrigerator and microwave. The smart tv was great for late night movies, and you could see the lake from our room! My GPS took me someplace odd in downtown but the place is 5 miles NORTH of downtown tawas on us23 and it was very easy to find and the host was very easy to get in contact with! If i had any notes, i would suggest putting up a full length mirror on the empty wall in the bedroom for getting ready 🙂
This little cottage was a delight to stay at for one night. My father, brother, and I were on a motorcycle trip around Lake Huron and booked the Barberry for one night, and we couldn't have picked a better place to rest our heads. The cottage was clean, everything worked perfectly, and even without AC it was plenty cool at night with the windows open. It even has access to a little lake-front beach (I say beach, but there were large rocks right at the water, but sand closer to the road). Very quick communications with the owner, thank you! 6 thumbs up!
Location and neighborhood was great, except the traffic noise from Route 23 is very loud. A note for heat, there is not a thermostat, you need to contact the property manager and they will turn it on.
Would have been much better with an air conditioner, even a window unit would have helped. The bathroom had a window that opened, but no screen. Had to shower with the bathroom door open to have any ventolation. Other than those 2 things it was fine.

Not ideal for a family
The cabin hadn't been cleaned prior to our check-in; the bedding was still on the floor and there was mouse poop on the couch. We contacted the property manager and she apologized for the mistake and sent the cleaning lady right away.
The place is very small, but functional, except cooking would be a challenge, as there's no counter space. The door to the bathroom is difficult to open and shut, as it scrapes against the floor. The shower was nice, but ran out of hot water after the kids showers, so we needed to wait. The bed on the left is extremely squeaky, so every time you adjust or turn the whole bed creaks very badly. There is a motion sensory light on the neighbors cabin outside the bedroom window that woke us up multiple times throughout the night and early morning, as the curtains in the bedroom are sheer.
The neighbors were smoking marijuana outside which smelled very strong and spoiled our experience; even staying indoors, you're stuck smelling that because the windows need to be open due to no AC.
We left a day early.
Place was nice and clean. Everything needed was provided. It was a very quiet area. Streaming TV intermittently disconnected, but we were not there to watch TV so that is not a negative. I would stay there again.
We picked a perfect weekend to see the Fall colors traveling the Ausable River Road scenic byway. The cabin was a perfect location to end our tour. Amemities were as listed, a clean and comfortable cabin. East Tawas was also very interesting, which added to a very nice weekend getaway.
Three of us from high school met for a mini reunion here. Plenty of room, clean, and comfortable with the surprise addition of a screened porch. It was a great place to spend the weekend remembering and laughing. Highly recommended!
My son’s varsity football team played in Tawas Labor Day weekend. So we made a trip of it. Love the location. A little bit from town but just the right amount. Although we wish the beach access was more sand than rock, we still enjoyed a few hours down there. Beds were comfortable. It was a hot weekend and air conditioning would have made it a bit more comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our time there for a quick two day trip:)
