Fantastic Location

Very nice cabin, with the perfect amenities for the area. Location was great for riding the trails, Buffalo Mountain trailhead is only 500 feet away.

HMT riding

Stayed here with an older group of guys and everyone was able to sleep comfortably, the 2 bathrooms made a world of difference, and location in reference to the trials was wonderful. Would stay here again for sure!

Amazing

The property and cabin were amazing. The location is perfect. And the owners go above and beyond. I cannot recommend this place enough. These are only cabins I would stay in when visiting the HMT trails.

Amazing place

This place is so cool. Amazing bachelor party for my best friend. Right at the trail head of buffalo mountain and Greg will really lead you in the right direction on what to do and what to explore. Planning on going back next year!!

Highly Recommend!!!

The owners are top notch, they checked in with us a few times to to make sure everything was going well. The trail head is located right next to the cabins for both #hatfieldmccoytrails and the outlaws. There is a bowling alley that is family friendly and brand new a 1/4 mile away with great food and drinks. The cabins are pristine and perfectly decorated for a mountain getaway feel. We will be back for sure!!!!

Absolutely perfect!

The listing was exactly as described. A lovely rental just a hop skip and a jump from the Buffalo Mountain Trail System of HMT. We didn’t have any issues while there and communication with the host was great! They even had our trail passes waiting for us upon arrival! The kiddos loved the loft! Overall a wonderful place to stay and enjoy what West Virginia has to offer!

Wonderful place, plenty of room and they had everything needed. Hootie was an absolute pleasure, we could not ask for a better host. WONDERFUL

Had a great stay in a wonderful cottage. As awesome as the location and cottage were, the property owners were even better! Greg and his wife are some of the most solid people we've had the pleasure of meeting and working with over the years staying at these types of properties throughout the country. Im not very good at completing reviews for my stays but I couldn't not leave a review here as a testament to their helpfulness and kindness. We will definitely come back as we feel like we've made new friends in a new state! Thanks so much for your help with everything and making our stay a memorable one. BEST VRBO EVER!!!!

I NEVER leave reviews but this one is worthy of my time to do so!!! The owners are AMAZING-The cabin was AMAZING-The Location is AMAZING!!! The amount of heart that has been poured into the property is something that you would just have to experience and talk with the owners about how this gorgeous place came to be. They both went out of their way to share their story and take us on a little tour and even let us store our ATV’s on their property when our plans changed and we went to NC before traveling back to hit the trails. You don’t even have to worry about passes because they will have them ready for you upon arrival! We took our 4 children (which have all went multiple times to the Hatfield McCoy trails) and they never want to stay at another place again. This place will be our “go to” place from now on when visiting WV. We are already planning another trip this year and can’t wait to go back and see what progress they have made on their plans for the property.

Clean, cozy cabin

Easiest VRBO experience yet! Check in/out process was a breeze. Greg was awesome at communicating and giving tips on the HMTs and local restaurants! The cabin had everything we needed and more! It was spotless and cozy. And the decor was perfect. Excellent location to the trails. Can’t wait to come back!

The Best Trail riding !

Everything was perfect. Greg communicated great before and during our stay. The cabin is in perfect shape. It is also in a perfect location wether you want to ride on the Hatfield Mccoy trail system or the outlaw trails. Both entrances are only a 1/4 mile away. Greg was nice enough to share a mobile app with all the trails marked which came in handy. The cabin is stocked with all the essentials for cooking. Pans, cups, silverware and more. There is an outdoor grill and fire pit. Overall the stay was perfect. My only complaint is I have to drive 10 hours from Florida. LOL. All though I'm already planning another trip for winter. Special thanks to Greg for the gift in the Milkbone box. Take care. See you again soon.

Appalachian fun!!!

From the beginning to the end Christine and Hootie were absolutely amazing. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and stocked ready for us to come in and relax for a weekend of riding. They were so helpful and went above and beyond. The cabin is beside the trailhead which was very convenient. The cabin was also full of games such as cornhole Jenga Scrabble cards etc. The beds were very comfortable and it sleeps like 8-10 people. We will definitely be back to visit and we will be staying in this cabin again!!!!!!!

Amazing Cabin close to Trails

Mingo County has done a great job of harnessing the local culture to create an enjoyable experience for locals and or visitors. The cabin is decorated with decor that brings you to a time gone by while providing modern and comfortable accommodations. The views from the back porch are gorgeous where you also have access to a fire pit and corn hole boards. The triple decker bunks in the guest bedroom are unique and very sturdy. The master bed was comfortable and joins to the bath. Overall this place is a wonderful way to spend time with family. We can't wait to return.

Why they chose this property

We have lived on Buffalo Mountain for over 30 years. It was affectionally named Billy Goat Mountain in the past due to the extremely large herd of billy goats that populated the mountain stopping traffic and causing traffic to slow down just to get a look a them. Our girls thought that they owned them as pets especially since the goats would venture into the yard and eat the landscaping...we let them think that because they often provided entertainment for them. After many years, the goats have died off but the memory of the goats lives on here on the mountain. We love to ride the trails and look forward to hunting season every year.

From this trailhead that is next to us, you have access to the four towns of Matewan, Delbarton, Gilbert and Williamson. Each of these towns offer gas, restaurants and more.
