Ski-In, Ski-Out, Corner Unit. Sleeps 4. Hot Tubs, Pool, 65" OLED TV. Near Base
Our Winter Park, Colorado condo has all the amenities:
* Largest one-bedroom layout * Corner unit offers additional light, air, back-door entrance for convenience * Full-size kitchen with granite countertops and new appliances * 55' LED TV with Comcast TV and Roku streaming * Living room is comfortable and spacious with gas fireplace * Pool and hot tub right down the hall * Back door connects to large shared patio with mountain views (patio not shoveled in winter) * Comfortable queen-sized bed plus a queen-sized Murphy bed * Xsports just outside our door—rent your skis and purchase gear or sunscreen. * Shuttle stop just outside—one stop to and from the base area (or you can ski to it). * Four people sleep here comfortably.
We have a great location and have put a lot of care and expense into upgrading the unit but there are some things you should know about Iron Horse that fall outside of our control yet may affect your decision to rent:
* The unit is warm when all windows are closed. The source of the heat is unclear (we've researched it with the HOA board). We installed windows that all open (five total), as does the back door. We installed a ceiling fan in the bedroom and portable fan. When we stay, we keep at least one window open all night, summer or winter, even in subzero weather (and we love the mountain air). Fortunately, nights are cool in the winter and summer at 9,200 feet. If you are uncomfortable having windows open, you may be unhappy in our unit. * Because the unit is ground level near the driveway, you may hear buses or snow-removal equipment when they are operating. The snow-removal machines start early in the morning and beep while backing up (although only on days with new snow).
Iron Horse is a great place, and we book fully during the high seasons, with many happy repeat guests. We want you to be aware of these quirks of Iron Horse so that you can decide for yourself whether it's the right place for you.
THE RESORT: The Iron Horse is located at the base of the mountain between the Winter Park and Mary Jane sides of the ski area. We're a short walk or shuttle bus ride to the main base area, which features many shops and restaurants. Be sure to visit Vertical Bistro & Tap, the best full-service restaurant in the area. Say hi to the owner, Tim Hubbard, a longtime friend (he's the guy in the photo at the top of a chute on a powder day).
The Iron Horse has a hot tub onsite, an indoor/outdoor heated pool, and a steam room, with luxury locker rooms included for your use. There's also a fully outfitted exercise room with weights and cardio machines.
THE SKIING: Winter Park is the third largest ski resort in Colorado and a local's favorite. It's known internationally as a mountain for serious skiers, with plenty of good runs for beginners and novices too (generally the steeper, bumpier terrain is on the Mary Jane side and the blue-green cruisers are on the Winter Park side). There is a massive terrain park with half pipe, rails and jumps. There are also separate beginner and intermediate terrain parks. You can rent equipment onsite at Ski Depot, just across the drive from the condo.
Note that we will withhold $100 from the damage deposit for each missing parking pass (currently there is a main pass and a 2nd pass for less-busy periods). We have to pay for the replacement if they disappear.

Great condo, maybe the best location in the unit because of proximity to the elevator in the next bldg and cutting through there to get to the slope. Easy to ski down the hill to re-enter the condo. Comfortable and nice Murphy bed.
Our host was great at communicating and we appreciate that so much. Our kids loved taking an elevator to the ski slope and they loved the heated pool. Clean facilities. We will book here again!
This would have been a 4 if not 5 star had there been hot water in the shower.

I wish you had let me know about the hot water issue. I just heard about it from the guest after you and have a plumber en route now to assess. If you'd let me know, I could have moved faster to keep any inconveniences for renters to a minimum, especialy during busy times.

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
The giant patio right outside the back door with a grill was a great bonus! Easy ski in/ski out, well appointed, and clean! Plenty of towels and great communication.
The location and description of the property were very accurate and perfect for our purposes. Communication with the owner was prompt and efficient. Would definitely stay again.
My sons and I stayed the weekend here and were pleasantly surprised at how close to was to the resort and how easy it was to take the Lift bus to the resort. It was small, but as advertised, but just enough for a couple or small family.
It’s very easy to get on and off the slopes using the bridge to the building next door - one elevator ride and a short walk and you’re on snow! The condo is well supplied, the Murphy bed works great in the living room, and the hot tub is fun. Good spot
The place has a great location near a ski rental and the bus stop. Bus schedule was a little iffy, but its close enough to walk if need be. I would not call it a ski-in/ski out. Place was clean, warm, nice fireplace. I did not use the pool or laundry, but the hot tub was shut down because of people not showering.
Unit has been completely updated/renovated and in a great location in Iron Horse. Had all of the amenities for making meals or just enjoying time in front of the fireplace! Would definitely recommend and we will put this at the top of our list for returning to Winter Park.

Nice property fairly convenyent to eveything and easy access to the mountain.
Condo was nice but could have been cleaner. Condo also needs a better couch and an alarm clock/radio in the bedroom Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

Hello,
Thank you for the feedback (and for responding to my direct note inquiring about the cleaning issues). I have discussed the cleaning issues with our housekeepers.
After an earlier guest review comment about the sofa cushions, I found an upholsterer immediately and placed an order for new custom inserts; I'm sorry they hadn't arrived in time for your stay.
Regarding the alarm clock: we find that most people prefer using their personal devices, and anything on the bedside tables gets unplugged and set on the floor, so we keep the tables clear except for the lamps (and even they get unplugged sometimes).
I'm glad you had a good stay overall. I take seriously any concerns or repair issues, and can act most quickly on them when I hear about them directly, as the guest review process can take up to a month before we see the review, as it did in this case.
Unit is "cozy" but has everything we needed to enjoy the spring ski weekend. The only complaint I had was that my stock Toyota 4Runner with ski racks couldn't fit in the garage and there isn't a lot of other parking available at Iron Horse for guests.Really liked all the historical photos of the area on the hallway walls. Some people may not like that there is no staff on-site to help with check-in or answer questions but the instructions from the host were detailed and accurate so we had no issues (other than remembering the extremely long access code!)
Easy check in, convenient property located right at the stop for the Winter Park Green line bus. Only feedback pertains to the food waste disposer in the kitchen sink not working, and the drain in both kitchen and bathroom sinks being somewhat clogged. Besides that, an excellent property and very helpful host.

Hello Daniele,
We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and thank you for the positive review. When I saw your review, I immediately contacted my housekeeper to see if she noticed anything wrong with the disposal or bathroom drain upon your departure. She said there was food in the kitchen sink and she had to run the disposal. Fortunately, that cleared it. The disposal seemed to work fine. She also said she pulled clogged material (hair) out of the bathroom sink and got that draining fine. We've not heard of any problems since your stay and we've been booked solid since then. I am checking with the current renter but I think all is well. (As always, we'd like to know asap if there are problems.)
We're so glad you had a great stay.
About the host
Hosted by Ned Liston
I fell in love with skiing as an adult and moved to Colorado in 1999. Although I also own a ski condo in Breckenridge, I spends most of my time at Winter Park.
Why they chose this property
I found a great floor plan with a great location and updated it to include more modern decor elements. A slight remove from the base means more of a mountain feel (no view of parking lot or commercial buildings). You can ski or take the bus to the base, and it's a short drive to town.
What makes this property unique
The end unit provides more light and a back door for easy access when the snow isn't too deep. We remodeled the unit entirely so it has many design features not found in any other Iron Horse unit.
