Cozy, Clean, DIRECT Ski-in Ski-Out Top-Floor Studio at Iron Horse
COMFY studio on the MOST DESIRABLE 5th floor with DIRECT ski-in ski-out access to the Corridor Run and the Winter Park base! Secured ski storage available just inside the ski access door. Our condo is perfect for taking a break from skiing for a warm-up, snack or lunch: Ski in from the base of Mary Jane run; it's the best possible location for the ultimate in ski-in, ski-out convenience.
The condo has a queen-sized Murphy bed, two twin-sized Lazyboy hide-a-beds, a full-sized dining table, and a gas fireplace. It is warm, comfortable, and always PERFECTLY clean, including fresh, high-quality bedding and linens. The kitchen is fully-equipped, with premium-quality cookware, utensils, knives, dishes and glassware, a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, a glass-topped range/oven, built-in microwave, and dishwasher. The new high-def TV receives Comcast cable. Free high-speed wifi. The condo has a full bath with a shower tub; body wash, shampoo, conditioner and a hair dryer are provided. Board games such as Scrabble, Clue, Yahtzee, Boggle, cribbage board, playing cards, a poker book and puzzles are available in the room.
The balcony has a great eastern treetop view overlooking the indoor-outdoor pool area and two large hot tubs.
The condo has a large wall-mounted map of the Winter Park and Mary Jane ski areas, including a QR code for downloading the ski area map to a smartphone.
IRON HORSE RESORT:
Location and Skiing Access: The Iron Horse is half way between the base of Mary Jane ski area and the Winter Park base area, on the Corridor Run. Access to the Corridor Run is direct from the 5th floor door at the end of the hall (south from condo c5053). Ski down the Corridor Run to the gondola at the Winter Park base and ski in from the left side of the Mary Jane run.
In early Fall, Spring and Summer, the Corridor is usually a dry walking path, with easy access to the Winter Park base area restaurants, a Starbucks, and shops - just 1/3 of a mile away, less than a ten-minute walk.
The Iron Horse has the only indoor-outdoor pool in Grand County. The exercise room (on Level 1) was recently renovated, including new exercise equipment. Steam rooms are located adjacent to the exercise room. There's also a game room, and a meeting area adjacent in the lobby. Massage treatments are available at the Iron Horse by appointment.
The Iron Horse is actually IN the Arapahoe National Forest - offering seclusion from the traffic and commotion of the base area.

All condo rentals include free parking in a secured, enclosed garage with elevator access to the condo.
THE SKI AREA:
Winter Park offers three main peaks, with a total skiable area of 3,060 acres! 144 trails are available to skiers of differing ability levels. Winter Park usually gets much more snow than most other ski areas in the state; an average of over 25 feet of natural snow reach season!
The Mary Jane ski area - which is connected to the Winter Park area - has some of the best mogul skiing in North America and several long cruising ski runs that start well above treeline. Mary Jane's terrain is perfect for intermediate to advanced skiers.
Winter Park was named the Best Ski Area in North America by USA Today for three consecutive years.
WINTER PARK:
Winter Park itself has very comfortable, relaxed, laid-back feel, and lots of improvements have been made overt the last several years. A wide variety of restaurants are available, ranging from the basics like McDonalds and Subway, mid-scale bistros, grills, and brewpubs, and fine dining. Great barbecue, handcrafted pizzas, gourmet hot dogs, steaks, seafood, Mexican, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese foods can all be found in Winter Park. A convenient, full-service grocery store is located in downtown Winter Park, the Fireside Market & Eatery.
SUMMERTIME ACTIVITIES:
Surrounded by the Arapahoe Forest, Iron Horse has a very pleasing setting for summertime visits. Gas grills, outdoor chairs and tables, and a large gas firepit are available. The grounds include horseshoe pit and an attractive gazebo adjacent to a pond, near a pleasant brook running through the property.
The Winter Park area is a great place to escape the heat of the summer, typically 10 to 20 degrees cooler than the Denver metro area. Local activities include hiking, biking, running, golf, fishing, boating, rafting, kayaking, and viewing wildlife. Spectacular, uncrowded hikes are available on the western side of Rocky Mountain Park, just north of Granby.
The base area of Winter Park offers chair lift rides, rentals and mountain biking for all skill levels, miniature golf, climbing walls, and the longest Alpine Slide in the state. Several excellent golf courses are nearby, giving golfers a chance to hit the longest drives in their lives, since the altitude is nearly 10,000 feet!
A bowling alley and 2-plex movie theater and bar - The Foundry - is located on the north end of Winter Park.
At an elevation of almost two miles, Winter Park is a great summertime destination for activities ranging from EXTREME relaxation to EXTREME workouts - which could include training at high altitude in order to achieve a personal bests in running events, biking events, a triathlon, half marathon, or marathon - especially for events held at lower altitudes!

The condo was very comfortable and well stocked with condiments and everything we needed during our stay. The room is nicely located for easy access to ski in/out corridor from the same floor. It also has easy navigation to the gym and hot tub area. 10/10 recommended!
The unit was perfect for 2 of us, clean with all the comforts you would need. Communication was amazing with the owner. Unfortunately skiing wasn't great, the ski out worked but not the ski in lol. All out of control of the owner obviously. If we return next season, we would not think twice about booking again!
We appreciated all of the little extras that the owner had like spices, sunscreen, great multi use coffee machine, games, and more. Also, the communication was great.
Awesome host and condo! The host provided a lot of helpful info and was very responsive. We loved the condo and it was just what we needed for a quick trip. Garage parking was a huge bonus. Thank you!
My son and I spent 3 days skiing and really enjoyed this quaint ski in and ski out condo. Everything was in order as promised and the ease of access to the slopes made it ideal for a short Spring Break stay with lots of time on the slopes.
What this guest meant to say was, the condo was the most convenient ski-in, ski-out location available in Colorado. And the owner, Marc, was a great host!
I scratch my head over the handful of bad reviews in the midst of hundreds of great reviews here. This is a great stay and Marc’s a wonderful and communicative host. Comfortable and convenient. Cozy. Well stocked. Even had spices, soups, and other items that we didn’t use but appreciated them providing very much. Rarely see that level of care. Iron Horse itself is also great. It’s older but so are we and thought it was a perfect fit. Lone comment I’d offer is that the HOA could look into newer or different keypads for easier common area door access. That’s not a complaint and certainly not directed at Marc; the old pads and codes care just a little finicky. Again, overall wonderful property, stay, and host. We’d stay again in a heartbeat. Five stars.

A "handful of negative reviews" refers to a few 4 star reviews; never lower than that. One was a reviewer who said the condo had no fan, which of course it does. Actually two fans now. Another said "Perfect Stay", then gave 4 stars.
While the property was built in the early 80s, recent major upgrades include new oversized hot tubs, new carpeting, an outdoor gas fireplace, and a renovated exercise room. The property gets older but major investments in maintenance and upgrades continue.
Really enjoyed the property and location. Owner was very helpful and easy to work with. We had no issues.

Great Ski in and out location
The property was very clean and cozy. Mark did a great job communicating things we needed to know. The location is perfect to ski in and out of... Would definitely stay there again:)
The ski in ski out aspect of this condo was so convenient. The amenities in the building were also great -hot tub, warm pool, game room, and steam room. The host was very kind and responsive to all inquiries. .

This condo offers the ultimate ski-in, ski-out convenience available; our 5th floor location has direct access to the bridge outside to the Corridor Run, eliminating the need to climb stairs or take elevators inside the building. Secure locker rooms are just inside the 5th floor entrance, so you don't have to lug equipment all over the place. Very easy to stop in to warm up, have lunch, or have a snack. This convenience is the main reason we bought this condo, so we are pleased to hear from guests who appreciate it! Thanks Carol!

Our treetop, east-facing unit on the 5th floor is ideal - a walk down the hall takes you directly to the Corridor ski run, for the best possible ski-in ski-out access, as well as a place to start a walk, run or hike in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Iron Horse is nestled in the Arapahoe Forest, but the Winter Park base area and all its amenities - including Starbucks, dining choices, and a convenience store are just a short walk away.
