About this property

Our Little Cabin, Life As It Should Be

2026 - Early Spring -Buttercups and BlueBirds have arrived! Can Summer be far behind? We are getting " Our Little Cabin" ready for you! So time to start planning your stay. Here it is so quiet you can hear birds sing, deer snort and if you want, yourself think! Located in a meadow/wooded rural setting and approximately 8 miles from Philipsburg. This rustic cozy 1 room cabin is comfortably furnished for a relaxing stay. The cupola allows for stargazing from bed, an 1890's wood stove provides warmth and ambiance. The "west wing" - shower/ bathroom - has a sliding door to provide privacy from the main room. Kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, coffee maker, dishes, etc.
Since your coming to this area, you likely have done some research and are aware of the rich history in mining and the fun of panning for sapphires. For us the outdoors plays a large part in our lives. In the summer, kayaking the numerous rivers and lakes, casting a fly hoping to attract a trout, hiking a trail in the Pintler Anaconda Wildernesses or Sapphire Mountains. Then there is just settling beneath a tree and reading a good book.

The cabin is reached by a private gravel road and drive. After years of vacationing in the cabin we built our home here. You likely will see us ( and our dogs Darby and Dixon) outside working on a project, low key and out of your way.

About the host

Hosted by Maribeth & Kent Ellis

Host profile image
Kent and I bought this property almost 20 years ago. We knew that some day we would make this beautiful spot our full time home. 10 years ago, we made the move. For me it was coming home- I was born/raised in Columbia Falls. Kent family also had homesteading roots in Montana, though he is a Colorado native. We have short beautiful summers when we do our best to soak in all the activities and events in we can. We love rodeos (watching!) kayaking, hiking, fishing, our dogs and working around the property. Fall is likely our favorite season, warm days and snappy evenings!
Winter - a fact of life here and it is long, so best to embrace it! We dust off the snowshoes, Altai Hoks ( cross between snowshoes and XC skis) downhill skis and the snow blower! The cabin is generally not available during winter months.

Why they chose this property
