About this property

Large Log Cabin in the Heart of the ADKS

This newly renovated private 3 bedroom log cabin has a lovely view of Sentinel Mountain from the large back deck and north facing windows. It is completely refinished with a modern and fully-equipped kitchen, and a game room lounge... great for a family or friends traveling together! (Please note that breakfast is not included due to limited capacity at the Inn.)
We offer a variety of experiences and accommodations to our guests and hope that there is something here to delight and inspire all that pass through our doors. We pride ourselves in providing a high standard of cleanliness, comfort, and care. It is our aim to give you the opportunity to disconnect from the grind of daily life, and reconnect with yourselves, your families, and the wonders of the natural world at our doorstep.

Our main Inn is a farm to table bed and breakfast where we serve hyper local dishes made with ingredients from our own back yard and our community farmers. There are six well appointed rooms with "cloud beds" to give you the rest and relaxation you so well deserve. In addition to the Inn, we have 2 new cabin rentals. Trillium Cabin is our "honeymoon" style cabin with a king bed, jacuzzi tub, and kitchenette. It's the perfect place for a retreat or romantic getaway. Sentinel Cabin is a 3 bedroom fully renovated log style cabin. It has 3 rooms with king or queen beds, a living room, full kitchen with brand new appliances, dining room, a lounge/game room, 3 bathrooms, 2 additional pull out couches, and a large deck with a grill. It's a great base camp for a family or group of friends.

As of 2018 we began offering our location as a Wedding Venue and are now offering several outdoor spaces for wedding ceremonies and celebrations. We are connected to a team of talented wedding professionals in the area and can help guide you to creating the mountain wedding of your dreams. With epic mountain views, flowering meadows, gardens and a charming farmhouse, it's a gorgeous location for your special day. In addition to weddings, we also host group retreats, reunions, full house/property rentals, workshops, and more. We have many exciting things up our sleeves that we look forward to offering in the future. In the meantime we hope we have the opportunity to host you soon!

Perfect for our Ski Trip

We stayed for 2 nights to ski at Whiteface. It was less than 20 minutes to the mountain. The property had plenty of room for our party of 6. There were also a variety of restaurants within less than 10 minutes drive. The property was clean and communication with the host was clear and quick. We especially enjoyed the game room. I highly recommend it.

Perfect place!

This cottage was a great place our group. We were there to hike the ADK High Peaks and couldn't have asked for a better location. The cottage was very clean and it had everything that we needed for the weekend. We highly recommend the cabins at Bark Eater Inn.

Great place to stay!

This cabin was the perfect rental for our stay in Keene. Plenty of space for us (4 adults, 2 kids, but would accommodate more), very comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen! Close to local XC ski centers, Whiteface, and Lake Placid. XC ski trail out the back door is a delightful bonus! We'd love to return in the future!

Nice place

A little guesswork needed to actually find the property but once that was sorted out it was a very nice place. Extremely well located for activities and dining in the area. Nice kitchen that was well equipped. Comfortable beds.

Beautiful rental, close to whiteface!!

We loved our time at this rental. Two families with four small children and we felt we had plenty of room. Game room in the basement a huge plus!

Amazing Stay!

Super clean, comfortable, and full of amenities. Meghan and Tyler were the best hosts and extremely helpful throughout my group's stay. We loved cooking in the kitchen and grilling on the porch. Definitely will be coming back for more Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain activities and even for the summer!

Great location!

We really enjoyed the cabin. Three couples, ample space for all. Rec room downstairs, no access from inside. The one item which was disappointing was that the 3rd bathroom is located in the basement with only outdoor access. Not very condusive to late night runs to the loo.

Friends Weekend

Absolutely perfect spot for our weekend getaway with friends. The cabin was clean, had all the essentials and was incredibly spacious. The hosts were gracious and helpful. We loved the downstairs game room. Having snowshoeing trails right out the back door was so neat! We would stay there again!!

Cozy and Charming

A group of friends and I chose this property for a long weekend away to hike, check out lake placid, and to just get away. We absolutely loved the location, the entire property, and the cabin itself. we all slept comfortably (8 of us) and we’re so grateful for how well stocked it was as well as the emphasis on cleanliness. We hope to be back!

A beautiful and tranquil spot

This is a lovely cabin, spotlessly clean, with plenty of space for a family of four, well stocked with everything you need. The property itself is gorgeous and large, and its location makes it easy to access many excellent hiking trails. The host, Meghan, is very friendly and responsive. Highly recommended!

The interior of a house in the exterior of a cabin

The property was immaculate. Remote feeling, but very comfortable. Places to walk on the property and a close drive to all the high peaks offer.

Great Experience

This property is fantastic, very clean and quiet. At first you question how it will be without WiFi and tv with kids but the property had plenty of things to keep them busy and you learn quickly is nice getting outside. Highly recommended if you want to live the simple life with a very nice cabin.

Great Secluded Spot

Stayed at Meghan & Tyler's 3 bedroom cabin the weekend of July 12. Couldn't ask for a nicer place and people running it. Everything was clean, decorated perfectly and Meghan couldn't have been a sweeter hostess. She made us feel welcome and not just the next renter. We will definitely be back!

Your hosts at the Bark Eater are Meghan Kirkpatrick and Tyler Nichols. We have been apart of the revival of this iconic Inn since it changed ownership nearly a decade ago. After years of renovation, planning, and refinement, is was with great pride that we opened our doors in 2016. We took over the business in 2018 and began leasing the from the owners. We are so grateful for this incredible opportunity and have many visions we hope to bring forward in the coming years. It is our hope that we will be grow this business and maintain a place you that is your home away from home for many years to come.

We share a love of the outdoors, living closely with the land, and working with people. Meghan is an avid gardener, herbalist, hostess, cook, crafter, and nature educator. Tyler does it all and always with a smile. He's a handy man, land manager, cook, and an outdoor adventure enthusiast. We wear a lot of hats around here and love the diversity of our work and it's seasonal changes. Our other family members are Dude the Dog, Kvothe the Cat, and a couple dozed free range chickens.
