Located on a private, gated road, experience fresh air that's travelled thousands of miles over the ocean. Explore 15 acres of the most beautiful property in the universe. Be prepared for 50,000 shades of verdant green to welcome you to a beautiful oasis of privacy. Cows cohabitate with the coconuts, bananas as well as a cornucopia of plants and trees. The home is only a 15 minute walk to historic and scenic Kapanaia Bay. Well appointed for comfort and convenience with managers onsite. Use of a pool is included along with fresh fruit at the owners other property, across the road. We receive enough rain to keep the grass green, but not enough to grow moss. Please be aware that due to our tropical climate, there are geckos sharing our home. We always give the rental a thorough cleaning right before check-in, but the longer you stay there is an increased likelihood of seeing evidence of the geckos.

Why they chose this property
Historic Kohala, nestled on the northern tip of the Big Island near the towns of Hawi and Kapaʻau, is truly a remarkable place to call home. What drew me here — and keeps me here — is the deep sense of community and connection that you feel the moment you arrive. In Kohala, neighbors aren't strangers; they’re extended family. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows your name, and a simple walk through town means exchanging warm greetings and genuine smiles with familiar faces.
The natural beauty here is abundant and humbling. Rolling green pastures meet ocean views, the trade winds bring a fresh breeze through the valleys, and the land itself seems to thrive with life — from flourishing fruit trees and gardens to the rich cultural heritage that lives on in the people and traditions of the area.
What I enjoy most about this neighborhood is the way it grounds you. Each day begins with the songs of birds and ends with breathtaking sunsets over the Pacific. There's a rhythm here that reminds you to slow down, be present, and appreciate the blessings of simple, beautiful living. Kohala isn't just a place — it’s a way of life, filled with aloha, resilience, and a deep respect for the land and one another.
