DEFINITELY A GORGEOUS APARTMENT IN A WONDERFUL PALACE WITH UNIQUE LOCATION

It can't be denied: the apartment benefits from a unique location (indeed it was selected among half a score prestigious locations by a famous TV production)
It is just 50 meters (150 feet) far from the Duomo square: the magnificent Cathedral with its Giotto bell tower that appears from the corner of the street (via Dei Vecchietti).

Via Dei Vecchietti is one of the most well-known street of the centre of Florence: spacious, clean and luminous.
It runs parallel to via Tornabuoni, known throughout the world for its high fashion boutiques.

You get to the apartment by entering the noble palace belonged to the 'Medici Tornaquinci' family:over the front door a beautiful wide entrance hall with elevator and staircase that leads to the upper floors.

The apartment consists of a 68 m² floor area and can accommodate a maximum of 2+2 guests ( 1 bedroom )
It is on 2 floors: the main floor where are located the spacious living room with a fully equipped kitchen and a solid large sofa bed sleeping 2 additional guests; a separate bright and romantic bedroom; a lower floor, which is accessed by a staircase, providing a private large and luminous bathroom.The bathroom is equipped with shower, bathtub and washing machine.

Amazing location for this apartment, right in the centre between the Duomo and Via de' Tornabuoni - 10/10 for location. In my professional opinion the flat would benefit from a complete renovation, or at least some serious TLC and all new furniture and fittings (the electric systems need updating). The flat is really only suitable for two people as you have to pass through the bedroom to access the bathroom. Being in the middle of the action has its benefits, but one drawback is the noise levels – and inside the flat you can hear everything going on in the streets below through the single pane windows.The price was reasonable for the location, but the flat is better suited for shorter stays as it stands.

Thank you for your feedback. My apartment, located in a prestigious Medici palace right next to the Florence Duomo, is cherished for its authenticity. While the historic terracotta and wooden beams reflect timeless value, all furnishings are modern and curated. I do wish to note that although you booked for two people, I kindly allowed you to host five relatives throughout the entire stay. I would have at least expected some gratitude for this exceptional hospitality, which was not owed but freely offered: a fact you did not mention in your review. Regarding the electricity, you had no actual problems. As with any home, there’s a maximum power capacity. During your stay, with multiple devices from five guests running at once, the breaker tripped a single time. You simply reset it and adjusted usage. No ongoing issue exists. Lastly, you offered to sell me two inflatable floor mattresses you purchased. I declined, suggesting you take them home. After that, your attitude shifted. In any case, I trust you’ll find something that suits you better next time. I wish you all the best.

Firenze Up Close and Personal

We were fortunate to find this unique rental on VRBO. We had never been to Florence (Firenze) and found this unit to be close in, yet quite, and charming. It has historical significance via the Medicci family which the owner, Lorenzo can tell you. It is two blocks from the Duomo, has nice decorations, lots of space, a very interesting bathroom, and wonderful air conditioning that allows you to shut out all outside noise and sleep comfortably. There are great restaurants near by, in fact one right around the corner where we ate after our short cab ride from the train station. This place is a find. We loved it.

Delightful Duomo stay in Firenze

If we were any closer to the Duomo we would be staying in it. Every day we would go around the corner of the building and have the beautiful view of the tower and Duomo, we enjoyed it immensely and never tired of it. Chiara's apartment was very clean, comfortable and spacious enough for our 5 week stay. While the photos accurately represented the apartment, we didn't appreciate how central the location was to all the major sites, restaurants and bars. Florence was just rated the #1 walking city in the world for good reason. The area is very safe and if you want an American burger, the Hard Rock Cafe is a 3 minute walk. Chiara is very responsive and we felt fortunate to have stayed in the apartment. We would definitely stay again the next time we are in Florence.

Firenze gem!

Our stay here was wonderful. Chiara is extremely helpful, patient and responsive. The apartment is perfectly located, well appointed and immaculate. If I ever get the chance to return to Florence, my visit step will be to contact Chiara and return to this rental. The unit's description is accurate, the bathroom is down some steep stone steps from the bedroom, but we didn't mind at all, especially since it is huge and contains a wonderful tub and a washing machine with plenty of space for a large drying rack. With the windows open you can faintly hear the street sound of Florence, not enough to be bothersome at all, and who could complain about the pealing of the cathedral bells!

Florence for New Year's

The location of the apartment just cannot be beat. We were able to walk to everything, including all the major historic sites, the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Accademia, Uffizi, etc, in five minutes or less. There are a hundred great restaurants and shopping within a few blocks of the apartment as well. And there is a really nice little grocery store just a couple of blocks south of the Duomo. The apartment itself is cozy, warm and quaint. It's also the same building that the 'Jersey Shore' people stayed in so it's famous (infamous?). It does not have a great view, but that only encouraged us to get out more. We enjoyed the sounds of city echoing of the walls of the building around us. It was not loud or annoying, and it gave us a more immersive experience of being in a vibrant, Italian city. When we go back, we will stay there again. And Lorenzo, our host, was incredibly helpful. Highly recommended.

worse place, worse experience

My sister and I stayed here for four days from June 26 to June 30, 2016. The owner asked us to do self check-in. Three days later, Chiara (the owner) called me around 5:00 PM, asking if she could come to pick up her money. She showed up on our door without checking with us, she was rude and very impolite, did not even ask, how we were doing or if we needed anything, after all, she never gave us a tour of the apartment. The apartment was in a good location and that is all. The pictures are very deceiving. Also there were 15 sharp steps going to the bathroom. I usually wake up 2-3 times a night to go to bathroom and on many occasions, I was almost falling off those steps. I will not recommend this place to anyone and if we had a choice, we would have moved out of this apartment after one night. We had our worst experience, WORSE PLACE EVER.

Convenience, Comfort, and Clean

This apartment - and Lorenzo - were a blessing in Florence. It was my first time to Italy and to Florence. The apartment was in the PERFECT location for experiencing the sights and sounds of Florence - culture, art, architecture, and shopping. A couple other women that were in Florence later in the week and shopped with us had chosen to stay by the train station and found that location only convenient for arrival - but a real problem logistically for the duration of their stay. And they were surprised how close this apartment was to the station while being so convenient for everything else that Florence has to offer. The apartment itself is very well maintained and very spacious - ESPECIALLY by European standards. The air conditioning was a godsend on the days that got up to 40 degrees (around 100 for any Americans reading this). The wifi was very strong and stable - I had zero issues with that at the apartment, where as some businesses in the city say they have wifi and it does ever connect or work. Lorenzo was great to deal with - very open and honest about the apartment, it is exactly what you see in the photos - no bad surprises - and he was kind enough to give details about where to get supplies and what restaurants he would recommend - which were GREAT recommendations! I would strongly recommend to anyone going to Florence that they rent this apartment for their stay - you will not be disappointed. Only surprise for my friend was the size of the elevator - but that to was larger than I have seen in other European hotels/cities.

A charming apartment

Thank you so much for letting us stay in such a lovely apartment. Chiara's description was perfect so we knew exactly what to expect. The location is perfect for exploring the city. Security ( all those heavy wooden doors) is excellent, as is the wi fi. Storage is fine for 2 people for a week's stay. Just a couple of notes - this is a very old apartment, that is its charm, so you will need house shoes as there are several broken and loose floor tiles. The windows overlook the neighbouring aircon units and the offices in the next block. These are occupied from at least 7am and there is no window covering on the landing down to the bathroom! The only thing I didn't like was the hand rail to the bathroom - this is rope so cannot be cleaned. As you can see from Chiara's description, unusually for a European rental, there is no Welcome Pack but a few things have (I am guessing) been kindly left by previous guests. We used the Conad store just off Piazza del Duomo which is close by and has most things anyone would need. All in all we had a most wonderful time on our return to Florence. Thank you Chiara.

Dear Patricia, firstly I want to thank you for your high rating and great appreciation. I'm very glad your husband and you spent a nice vacation in my apartment. I take advantage of your notes just to provide a few accurate information. Thanks Patricia for giving me the opportunity. Both the Palace and the apartment are not old, they are Ancient. The Palace is an historical structure belonged to the Medici-Tornaquinci Family and it is officially recognized and awarded by the Municipality of Florence as a "Protected Historic Residence" as attested by the exposed golden plate in the facade. Duomo apartment offers modern decor and furnishings. No broken or loose floor tiles anyway , I would not allow it. The apartment is fully tiled by "Florentine Cotto" , commonly appreciated as a rarity . I totally respect anyone who prefers modern floor but that kind of "floor covering" is not appropriate or allowed inside our Palace. Just through a binoculars someone could see my guests from the bank officies located in the "next block" .... That building is in fact on the opposite side of the main boulevard towards the Cathedral, and bank employees work too hard during the day ! ^___^ Seriously ... I am not going to to minimize your personal impression Tricia but me, I really think the next block is too far to generate any kind of embarrassment ; however each of the large windows of Duomo apartment has curtain: mainly to satisfy my decorative intent but this even generates an adequate protective situation. No Foods from other guests is left for hygienic issues and that is my personal choice and preference. It is true I do not leave a welcome basket but a bit of sugar, salt, various spices and tea. Ottimo!

Ho soggiornato in questo appartamento 4 notti, dal 17 al 21 giugno, con la mia famiglia. La proprietaria è gentilissima ed ha avuto molte accortezze: abbiamo trovato la casa pulita e profumata, l'antizanzare (Vape) già alle pareti in ogni stanza,il condizionatore accesso e tre cioccolatini sul tavolo! Si sa..le piccole attenzioni fanno sempre la differenza! L'appartamento è comodo e ben arredato ma soprattutto è collocato tra il Duomo e piazza della Repubblica, grazie alla sua posizione è facilissimo evitare i mezzi e girare tutto il centro storico di Firenze tranquillamente a piedi! Sicuramente ci tornerò e lo consiglio! Manuela

Perfect location, very well furnished

Chiara was a delight to deal with. She responded promptly to all of our pre-arrival inquiries, and the check-in process was seamless. The apartment had all the comforts of home including a larger than average refrigerator, good a/c, and excellent internet. All things we have not found common in European apartments. The pictures that Chiara posted are very accurate demonstrating a large living area and nice bedroom. We did not find having the bathroom located downstairs a problem, moreover, the bathroom was larger and better equipped than most we have found in our travels. We have stayed in Florence multiple times, and this was by far the best apartment we have experienced. We hope to return. Thank you, Chiara, for a wonderful stay.

Charming flat in a great location!

This is a well appointed apartment a very short distance from the Duomo! Our hostess provided helpful information on managing the apartment, navagating Florence, & a list of local restaurants. We would definitely stay here again! The only challenge is a lower level bathroom with low ceilings; however it was fully appointed with a tub & shower combo, separate shower, & small washing machine.

Well priced. Great location.

This home is in a vey central location and close to the train station. It has a very rustic charm, set in the maid's quarters of an old Palace! Of course that comes with a few quirks like loose tiles and a bathroom that is down a flight of stairs. But for someone who likes having the "real" experience when I travel, I loved it! Having said that, there are all the basic amenities and an abundance of hot water for the shower! The only two things I wish I had at the apartment were paper towels and a pen! The hostess was wonderful. She sent me very detailed instructions on how to enter the apartment (complete with photos), a list of garages to park my rental car, and she was easy to communicate with. We were a family of 3 (infant daughter) and the apartment was more than adequate for our needs. It was also nice having a crib all set up for my baby when we arrived! Thank you to Chiara.

I take advantage of your comment for a clarification: the apartment is always provided with 3 towels per person for the bathroom, a complete supply of linens for the bed and the sofa bed (according to the number of reserved guests) , and for the kitchen. On demand, a baby cot equipped with its own linen is also available. and ....... I usually leave a pen enclosed with the home booklet ! ^______^ Unfortunately , when Sarah and her family arrived to the apartment only one set of towels was left by mistake ! As soon as Sarah called me to kindly ask for the two additional set of towels that were due, she was provided with the missing linens. I apologize again for that inadvertency dear Sarah. Lovely central apartment.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It could not have been more convenient for seeing Florence. The apartment was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. We have been to Florence several times and this was definitely our best visit. Chiara was very helpful and prompt in replying to our emails. Lovely unique apartment in the heart of the city!

Ciao Chiara! I had to write this review and say Thank You! Your apartment was delightful for my 3 daughters and myself for the 4 nights we stayed. The location is perfect walking distance to everything and around the corner of the Duomo. Close to the train station, no taxi needed. The inside of the apartment is exactly as the pictures portray. The downstairs bathroom is quite large and my girls loved using it as their dressing room ( two slept on the living room sleeper sofa) it has a large tub, a separate shower, washing machine which we used with drying racks and heater to dry your clothes, worked out perfectly. Only thing I would add to bathroom is a full length mirror, my girls were fighting for the one in the bedroom... Those girls can take hours to get ready in the morning! Kitchen has all amenities we needed....coffee! Has a French coffee press which I learned to use. The apartment is a mix of wonderful bygone days and modern mixed......loved...loved....loved it! Unfortunately we never got to meet Chiara because we were so busy everyday with our itinerary! She emailed me ahead of our arrival with pictures of exactly how to enter the apartment building. No problems at all. She never asked us for the remaining money we owed so I told her we would leave it on the table to pick up at her convenience. When we returned to the apartment after a busy day touring she left us a little surprise.....delicious honey! Next time we come to Firenze we are staying here!!!!!! Grazie for everything and making our stay at your apartment & Firenze memorable! We visited Rome and Venice also, but our favorite is Firenze!😀 Deborah

Excellent location, apartment and host !

Excellent location, apartment and host ! Extremely clean apartment in a fascinating and quiet Palace in the heart of Florence. Proximity to shopping and museums is simply superb and Chiara was so friendly and keen to help make our visit to Florence a success. Free and full signal Wi-Fi was also an add on for us ... couldn't have asked for more, my wife and I have lived here like at home and wish we had stayed longer. Super Cute and Charming Apartment in the Best Location Ever

My husband and I stayed here for four days during a 3 week trip to Italy. We adored this apartment. The pictures don't do it justice- it's full of character and so unique. The bed was quite comfortable. It was nice to have such a huge bathroom too. The washer was also a bonus. The location couldn't be better. Florence is such a walkable city and the apartment is so close to many attractions- the Duomo, the Bargello, the Uffizi, Santa Croce, the Accademia, and Ponte Vecchio, just to name a few. There is no shortage of fine restaraunts nearby either. It's also a short walk to the train station. Chiara was very easy to work with. She responded promptly to all my inquiries and provided detailed directions for finding and getting into the apartment. I highly recommend this apartment and would stay here again if I ever find myself in Firenze again.

Un séjour magnifique

Notre séjour à Florence dans l'appartement de Chiara s'est passé à merveille. C'est un appartement parfaitement situé dans le centre de Florence, près du Dôme et des musées, des restaurants. On découvre la ville à pied et après une bonne journée de marche, on a le plaisir de revenir dans un appartement accueillant, propre, meublé avec beaucoup de goût, calme et très spacieux. Parfaite communication avec la propriétaire qui est très aimable et parle parfaitement le français. Je recommande cet appartement et aimerai beaucoup y retourner. Sophie

GOOD AS IT GETS!

The old rule of Real Estate certainly applies here "Location, Location, Location" and it simply could not be better. It s only a few steps to the Duomo and there are plenty of small super markets nearby as well as the Mercado. The apartment is comfortably furnished and is fully air-conditioned. The kitchen is very adequate with a very large refrigerator and all the necessary appliances. The big bathroom is wonderful with a bath tub, shower, washing machine, and iron and board if needed. We would certainly stay in this apartment again should our travels bring us back to Florence. Chiara was very nice and helped us find the services we needed and gave us very helpful advice.

Fantástico!

I stayed in this apartment with my family (mother, brother and a cousin) for a few days in June 2014. It's a great apartment all as appears on the pictures, the location is wonderful, close of everything. The owner is amazing, polite and very concern with their guests. I highly recommend this apartment.

Perfect Location

Located very near the Duomo toward the Uffuzi, there is not a better location. Easy walk from train station and near all food and fashion stores. Very clean and roomy. Excellent service. Large Bathroom down steps but not a problem.

Located behind palace doors the apartment is located within an easy walk from the train station and close to the Duomo and most of the major sites Would definitely stay again Chiara was very responsive Try the new restaurant down stairs the food is delicious

Thank you, Chiara, for a wonderful stay in Firenze!

We just returned from a five day stay this amazing apartment right in the center of Florence. The apartment is perfectly located and we were able to walk to all the sights, restaurants, shops, etc. Chiara was an extremely attentive and helpful host, going out of her way to make us feel comfortable and offering us suggestions about what to see and where to eat. She even phoned a restaurant to make reservations for us (La Cucina del Garga - also highly recommended), and then printed out walking directions for us to follow! The apartment is very clean, spacious, comfortable, and well - equipped. We were able to cook our dinners with fresh local ingredients purchased daily at Il Mercato Centrale (have a panino con bollito from Nerbone - it is the best thing you will ever eat!). I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone. Thank you, Chiara, for being a wonderful host!
