About this property
OCEANFRONT! Best scenery in Maine and it's breathtaking!
OCEANFRONT! Best scenery in Maine is right from this living room.
This is a comfortable 4 bedroom, 2 bath home with an open floor plan even from the kitchen and dining rooms. 1 bedroom and 1 bath is conveniently situated on the first floor for easy access and privacy. The 65" wide screen TV is viewable from all of the main rooms on the first floor and each of the bedrooms have their own TV. From the living room you are able to see the shoreline of 5 towns (Cape Elizabeth, Scarborough, Old Orchard Beach, Saco, and Biddeford Pool. Also in view from this living room are 9 islands (Audubon welcomes you to explore a deserted island at low tide), view boats sailing in and out of two nearby ports, and a lighthouse's beam visible at night.
And if you get up at 5:00 ish you will see the most gorgeous sunrises directly in front of house. Truly inspiring!
Pack a picnic lunch and take your loved ones to Stage Island (uninhabited island) for an experience they will cherish for a lifetime. Note: the last aerial photo was taken at peak high tide but within 1 hour the shoreline is exposed again and you and your loved ones can walk out to a nearby uninhabited island to tour at your leisure. It is for the public to enjoy as it is owned by the Audubon Society.
Hills Beach is a quiet residential neighborhood on this 1 mile long peninsula with a dead-end road so there is no busy through traffic here.
While this is a quiet, all residential area there are many restaurants, shopping for any of your favorite items, groceries, etc. only a short 5 mile drive from this house. Dock Square in Kennebunkport is only 10 miles south of this house and the Old Port on the waterfront in Portland is an easy 25-minute drive from here.
We would also be looking forward to receiving feedback from our guests who want to have a great escape.
65" wide HD Smart TV offers your favorite shows. DVD player is also for your use and newly installed high speed Fidium fiber optics internet.
I love pets of all kinds but, sorry pet lovers, pets are not allowed in this house and not on this property...and neither is smoking.
Bed linens and bath towels are not provided. Bedding is as follows: 1 king size bed, 1 queen size bed, 1 double size bed, and 2 twin beds. Queen bed is located on the first floor.

Just loved staying at this quaint cottage by the sea. Talking long beach walks every morning was wonderful. The house has everything needed for a comfortable stay including daily visits from two very special seagulls Becky and Buddy. Would return just to see them again!

Great location
The location is a jewel.
The place need to be refreshed and reburnished, specially the bathroom on the main floor and the carpet in the hallway and bedroom on the main floor need to go.
The cleaning was below our expectation ( finger prints on the kitchen cupboards, fingers in the glass window and I don't want to elaborate more).
On the more positive note, the host was 100% available at all time. The view was so relaxing and the beach is the backyard. We are happy to hear that some improvements are coming for the next season.
Raymond is a wonderful host! The house is on a raised area above the water with a spectacular view on all sides. Getting up for the sunrises are a must! At low tide, we walked along the beach to head over to the island. It was such a fun way to spend some time. Your high and low tide views are very different and to see it change is fascinating. We took easy rides into Portland and Kennebunkport, and got in a whalewatch. Golf is close. You may not even want to leave the property. We would love to come back!
Five of us spanning 3 generations will be forever grateful for the time spent at this house. We were truly able to make up for multiple years of lost time due to the pandemic during quality time we stayed here. My dad was worried he would feel like a burden to the rest of us as he cannot walk for more than a minute without needing a significant break, but because of the fact that this house has it’s own private beach, everyone was happy to just stay at the house. Our son was just as thrilled and was always busy, always happy swimming during high tides, and taking long walks at low tides, rising early to watch the amazing sunrise, I know that this will be a vacation that he will speak about fondly for years to come. An unexpected but happy surprise were Raymond’s “Pet” Seagulls, Becky and Buddy. At night, they squawked a “good night”, and every morning Becky waited patiently outside the door. The master bedroom on the 1st floor has a bathroom that you could consider an en suite, but with an extra door to maintain bedroom privacy. The upstairs bathroom had a shower/tub combo that was nice. Another surprise was the outdoor shower. The owners brother lives across the street and popped to see how we were. Roger was helpful and exceptionally nice. Thank you Raymond for allowing us to use this beautiful home. We would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for an amazing getaway with breath taking views. We would love to stay here again next time we go to Maine.
Extremely Disappointing Stay - Unclean and Poorly Managed
We recently stayed at this property and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. Despite being long-time VRBO users, this rental was by far the worst we've encountered.
First, the property owner failed to communicate with us prior to our arrival. We had no details on how to access the house until we finally reached him via a Ring doorbell when we arrived around 2 PM. The owner assured us that the house would be ready by 4 PM, but when we entered, it was far from ready and shockingly dirty.
The bathrooms were filthy, with grime, hair, and even nails on the floor. The carpets clearly hadn't been vacuumed, and the floors were covered in dirt, sand, crumbs, and hair. The refrigerator reeked, and upon inspection, we found a large, foul-smelling stain likely from fish or lobster juice. To top it off, there were no linens or towels provided, which was never mentioned in the listing. This lack of information added unnecessary stress, as we had to reach out to the owner again to resolve this issue.
When the owner finally brought linens and towels later that evening 8h we showed him the dirty carpets and floors. He confirmed that they were indeed dirty and promised a $100 refund and that a cleaning team would come the next day. However, the cleaning team never showed up and never got the refund.
While waiting for the owner to arrive with the linens, we decided to have a glass of wine to realize the dishes were dirty and sticky, adding further to our disappointment.

I will address them in order as the tenant complained in his review:
I have been renting this vacation home 'many' years and these tenants were by far the worst tenants I have ever had experienced in my life time and I am already on record that I would never rent to them again;
1) text messages between his wife and I in advance as is on VRBO that check in time is 4:00 PM but he wanted to get in at 2:00 PM upsetting him;
2) claims that the house was filthy is clearly false. I personally inspected the house, refrigerator, stove, etc.;;
3) claiming a foul smell is false;
4) I do not list linens and towels as being provided and never did, but to try to please these impossible persons I went to town and purchased complete linens for a king bed, queen bed, double bed and 2 twin beds...along with bath towels and face cloths for 8 people all at my expense. They never even said thank you;
5) someone had apparently spilled coffee on a carpet in one bedroom and I would have it taken care of by carpet cleaners but they left for the 'entire' following day and cleaners would not go in an empty house
6) it was an unusually cool stay during their stay and left for the 'entire' day with every window wide open (and susceptible to incoming rain and causing the furnace to run non-stop.
7) they left a large pile of ashes from the wood stove on the floor; and,
8) left 'all' their trash they accumulated during their entire stay on the floor in the kitchen & did not dispose of any in trash containers outside. Photos of this available.
Lastly, anyone reserving a home having the description they so falsely described would not stay in a house in such described condition. They rented 3 days and 3 nights in what turned out to be the coldest 3 days in August I have ever experienced and certainly must have been a disappointment, and they got their disappointment revenge. I must say that the other 2 gentlemen staying with them were very civil and professional and their 4 young children who were constantly running in and out of the house (as children would normally do) enjoyed their stay...in spite of the 50-60 degree days.

Why they chose this property
Hills Beach is very unique. Unlike many other shorelines here in Maine Hills Beach offers unmatched scenery and unique areas of shoreline that invite people of all ages to enjoy and explore.
What makes this property unique
This property that you are viewing is located in the best spot on this entire peninsula for a 180 degree panorama. Extremely rare and photos of this wide view don't do it justice. A wide angle lens will capture it all but doesn't match what your eyes will view.
