Welcome to our beautifully designed Lava House. Situated on 2 private acres of pristine beauty and tranquility. A long winding driveway leads you to our very private home which backs up to the most spectacular lava field. Our home is surrounded by gorgeous, lush native Hawaiian rain forest, flowers, fruit trees, birds and imminent view of a recent phenomenon - Fissure 8.This was the most destructive fissure from the 2018 Lava flow and contains geothermal heated pockets on the island. Other things to note The lava eruption of 2018 in Leilani Estates Hawaii has left behind a spectacular landscape of some of the world's newest Earth and our home incredibly survived only by 100 feet. Spend the night in our Lava House, the closest house to Fissure 8. Then wake up to the still hot and steaming lava field and enjoy the spectacular sunrise. You will experience the sound of nature with the rustles of tree leaves, the songs of tropical birds during the day and coqui frogs at night. Enjoy breath-taking alpenglow by sunset, where clouds are almost touching the Fissure 8. And then, view the never-ending night sky. Just sit comfortably in the chair on our covered patio with glass of wine or your favorite drink and relax by listening to ambient music and set your tone for your time spending here. Enjoy this romantic place on the Earth. Paradise awaits! You will have your own private space but still have a caretaker on site if you need anything.
Adventure to Rainbow Falls, explore the alien terrain of Lava Tree State Monument, or pick up some fresh local products from the Kalapana Farmer's Market! Shopping & restaurants are located 10 minutes away in historic Pahoa town. Near the local Roman Catholic Church is the memorial statue of Father Damien who established first churches here in 1865 and lived on Big Island for 9 years before Molokai.

Clean and beautiful property. Property manager and owner communication was great. Family enjoyed the amenities and rested after being active all day near Hilo. Thank you and Happy New Year.
Overall a pleasant, memorable stay at a very unique location. The check-in process was smooth, with the manager meeting us at the house upon arrival. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Every room was decorated with a special touch and had a beautiful view of the surrounding nature.
We loved this place: Diana, who manages the property for the owners, was very friendly, helpful and responsive to all our questions and needs. The property itself gave us a front-row seat to the awesome forces that are still forming the island of Hawaii: It's adjacent to an area devastated by a 2018 volcanic eruption. It's a great location to explore anywhere on the eastern side of the Big Island, from nearby Kalapana and the Red Road, to Hilo, all the way up to Waipio. The house, which is off the grid and is solar- and battery-powered, has every modern convenience. We hope to stay here again.
What a special place. We had a lovely stay in the jungle right in the edge of the majestic fissure 8. It was truly magical, a very memorable and lovely experience for our family. I wish we had stayed longer.
This property is a true winner. They have thought of everything. Excellent communication lovely accomodation. Hope we are fortunate enough to return in the future. Great Vibe!
We had a wonderful time staying over New Years and Mother Earth provided all the energy and ambiance that we needed. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need to relax, drink and prepare food. The contrast of the Fissure 8 lava flow to the lush replanted tropical garden is amazing. The house is off grid but everything ran seamlessly. There are some limitations on where a person can wander on the newly created lava but I think those are probably wise safety issues.
We also enjoyed the artsy small town, local feel of Pāhoa and really recommend the Saturday market on the coast at Kalapana. The produce was excellent and very well priced.
Checkin was easy and well communicated.
Overall a truly unique and memorable experience.
We didn't realize just how special this place was until we stayed here and understood how devastated this area was. It was an honor to be able to be in a place that was spared from complete destruction. Our only regret is that we didn't just spend more time sitting at the house and enjoying everything.
