Blowing Rock Fabulous Log Cabin with Great Views. Upscale newer large home
Spectacular, luxury log cabin with fabulous view of Grandfather Mountain and the John's River Gorge. This house is constructed with 10 inch round logs from Montana for that western lodge look. It boasts a huge great room with 25' vaulted ceiling, beautiful stacked stone fireplace, lots of windows, huge deck to enjoy the view, top of the line kitchen, hickory floors, and inviting mountain decor throughout. At 3000 feet, the air is nice and crisp, but air conditioning is available if you need it.
This house has three bedrooms and three full baths. Two of the bedrooms have fabulous views and private baths. One of these bedrooms, on the main level, has a queen bed. The bedroom upstairs has a king bed and twin bed and has a beautiful bath. The second bedroom, on the main level, has two twin beds and hall bath. There is a queen sleeper/sofa located in the living room. There is a basement and additional bedroom upstairs but they are not available for rental. No pictures are shown of the areas unavailable and everything you see in pictures will be open for you.
The dining room is spacious and opens onto a covered porch. The kitchen is very large and is fully equipped with double ovens, built-in microwave, downdraft gas range, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and refrigerator with ice-maker. There is a large breakfast bar in the kitchen so there is plenty of room for everyone to eat. The house is fully equipped with dinnerware, pots, pans, utensils, linens and has a washer/dryer. We are located on 4 acres backing up to the Pisgah National Forest, so hiking opportunities abound. No smoking is allowed in the home and sorry, no pets are allowed either.
Downtown Blowing Rock is less than four miles away. Our house is 1 mile down a well-maintained gravel road. Four wheel drive is seldom needed. The decks offer many opportunities to enjoy the view. The back of the great room is all glass and opens onto a huge deck where a gas grill is located, as well as much seating.
All of the baths are tile with upgraded fixtures. Hickory floors are throughout most of the house. There is much exposed wood with extra large posts in the entry hall, stone foyer, large stone front porch, and tongue and groove ceilings.
Blowing Rock is a quaint village with an abundance of excellent restaurants, antique shops, and festivals in the park. The Blue Ridge Parkway is only 3 1/2 miles away and offers scenic drives, great hikes, mountain biking, and horseback riding opportunities. Skiing is available within a couple of miles at Appalachian Ski Mountain and the town has tennis courts.
Seasonally, Tweetsie Railroad and Mystery Hill are open for children's' entertainment. Tweetsie is an amusement park with rides, a petting zoo, and old steam engine train. Grandfather Mountain is about 1/2 hour drive away and has the Mile High Swinging Bridge, and zoo. Appalachian State University is located about 12 miles away in Boone, N. C. Golf courses are available minutes away.
Come experience the peace and quiet offered in this great setting. Listen to the birds, watch for wildlife, enjoy the reds and oranges of the spectacular Blue Ridge fall leaves, hike, or just relax in this newer luxury home. If you must bring some work with you, wireless wi-fi is available. Beautiful, roomy, and comfortable logged cabin overlooking the mountains. It was very conveniently near the town of Blowing Rock, but remote enough to provide privacy and quiet. A wonderful retreat for family and friends.

Great cabin, Great views, Great Location
I've rented this cabin a few times; a couple times for my men's group retreats and a return trip with just my family (my kids didn't want to leave the cabin), and I'd absolutely rent it again. The cabin is warm and modern and clean and provides spectacular views. It is conveniently close to downtown Blowing Rock (but not too close) and the owners are an absolute pleasure to work with.

Thanks Jim, it's always nice to host you and our other repeat guests.

This beautiful home is quite far off the beaten path on a long gravel road. The view is beautiful. The birds and the wind in the trees were the noisiest sounds we heard. The kitchen is really well stocked. The house has an open floor plan and many small areas to be able to get away. Our favorite area to hang out was the smaller tv/ game room.

So glad you enjoyed your peaceful visit in our home. Believe it or not, our road is only 9/10s of a mile but it does seem a little longer than a mile. Thanks for visiting.
The cabi. Is beautiful and is in a beautiful setting. The host, Lisa, communicated excelent and was very helpful. The greatroom and kitchen are outstanding and offer ample space for 6-8 to sit comfortably. Great wood burning fireplace also.
The negetives: there were flies everywhere in the house, both live and dead ones all around. The bedrooms are quite small and have smaller beds, the photos are a bit deceiving. The upstairs bedroom had a leak in the tub but it was remedied immediately by the owner.
I would recommend.

Hi Brad
I'm so glad you enjoyed our home and found it appealing. I am a bit confused about the concern with smaller beds in our bedrooms as they are all queens or one single which is exactly how they are listed. The photos are just straight shots of the rooms. Every few years, without explanation, there is an invasion of cluster flies in our area in late November. Nobody can predict when or if they will come. We have regular treatments but apparently they came during your visit.
Hopefully, all of the other features of our home offset the inconvenience of the flies. We do try to treat and they are not usually present.

Wouldn't Return
Let me start by saying this home is beautifully built, and the views are beautiful. However, our experience during Thanksgiving was extremely disappointing. We had great expectations to say the least. The owner is very responsive and kind. Past this, we found the house to be very dirty and in dire need of a 'deep' clean. There were bugs on the floors and widow sills, as well as all over the floor in the closets. I understand 'bugs' happen, but to find a slew of them inside the sofa and kitchen ceiling light was just too much. Upon arrival we quickly vacuumed what we could out of the sofa...as well as the floors. The tables and lampshades were full of dust. The beds were very uncomfortable, as was the sofa sleeper (stain on the mattress and food crumbs through out). The bed sheets/linens are old, and the fitted sheet in the upstairs bedroom had stains on it as well. If you want to use the stove, the back two burners are basically inaccessible due to the microwave height. A large pot with a lid can not be used, for example.
I sent this feedback in email to the owner upon returning a day earlier than planned - we just couldn't take the beds and bugs....As of this writing, I have not had a response or an apology.
If you have allergies, please inquire prior to booking as to the homes last cleaning.
Wish I had better things to say....

We welcome all responses and have been very pleased to have received 17 ratings of 5 stars in the ten years we have rented our home, often to repeat renters. We now realize you can not please all people, all the time. I was a bit floored to receive an email and this review from this guest as we received two emails during their visit saying "Your home is just gorgeous." and "We are so cool with it. Happy and cozy!
No smoke. Just that beautiful view!" Obviously, I was shocked and frankly didn't know how to respond. My housekeeper met me the day the folks left and we together went through all sheets to make sure they were not worn and cleaned all areas of the house we could find. I frankly expected to find all kinds of problems. Luckily, there was a minimal number of dead flies by the doors in two rooms. There were some dead flies in the bottom of a light fixture in the kitchen which has been cleaned. During the fall, cluster flies do come to our area as we are a log cabin in the middle of the woods. A log cabin, with log walls is never going to have the crisp clean look of sheetrock down to a floor line. The flies are limited to a week or so in the fall and were much worse this year due to the forest fires in the area. I'm not quite sure about the stove complaint. We regularly cook for 12 -14 people and have never had any trouble reaching the back burners. Our home is very well maintained, thoroughly cleaned between all rental visits. I am happy to discuss if you have any concerns but I do urge you to notice the consistent reviews we have been proud to receive.

Very nice house with beautiful views. Well equipped. Good communication with owner. Internet is very slow which owner told us prior to arrival so not good for streaming or working from home.
Apple Ridge is a large, comfortable and well-appointed home. The kitchen is large and well-equipped; 3 of us had no problem cooking together. Beds we're comfortable and bed and bath linens we're of good quality. Lots of books & games for rainy days. We had a very pleasant stay.
Spacious, well-maintained home with beautiful mountain views. Kitchen had everything we needed. Perfect for a vacation week. Very private. Remote location in a wooded area, but quick & easy access by car to Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Boone.
My husband and I loved our stay at this beautiful home!
The owners obviously put a great deal of effort into making their home clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated.
The views (as mentioned in many reviews before) are gorgeous.
The area is very wooded and private, and the fall colors were spectacular.
Only wish we could have stayed longer.
My sisters and I had a wonderful time at Apple Ridge cabin. The Mountain Views are amazing. The cabin is very spacious and the furnishings are attractive and comfortable. The location is extremely convenient to area attractions in Blowing Rock and Boone. I highly recommend this vacation rental.
We loved our stay!! The location was perfect for getting to both Downtown Blowing Rock and Tweetsie with the little ones!! The place was very clean and cozy. Amazing views!! Will definitely stay there again next year!
This home is absolutely beautiful The view from the back deck is incredible and the structure of the home is what every log mountain home should be. Wonderfully appointed - comfortable throughout - and just a peaceful lovely place to be.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Beds are very comfortable (extremely important) and house was very clean. The kitchen is thoroughly stocked with every convenience.
Very peaceful, stunning view and sunsets. My wife closed her eyes on parts of the drive in, but it really was not that steep, and the road is well maintained. Our hostess was very helpful.
My family and I enjoyed our stay in this beautiful log cabin home. We enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The home has everything you would need for a comfortable stay. During our visit we enjoyed the many things to do in the area such as Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Linville Falls, Mystery Hill and the town of Blowing Rock. We encourage you to give this awesome log cabin home a visit. Enjoy your stay!

Thanks so much for your kind review Kristen and I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit. You and your family are welcome back anytime!
We had a wonderful stay. The cabin is more like having your own personal national Park Lodge to enjoy. Very spacious, beautiful log home with large deck and kitchen. We cooked meals, played board games and loved the evening sunsets. The quick drive to Blowing Rock makes it easy to enjoy town, dinners out and access to hiking locations.
The dirt road to the cabin is right off 321 and easily navigable. It also makes for a very quiet night with no traffic.
Great house had everything we needed and a beautiful view of the gorge. We would definitely return for more hiking and barbecue. Thanks for accepting our short notice request!
We had a great time at this cabin in early October. Was a rainy fall weekend so we missed out on some of the long range views. No matter. Cabin was as described and exactly what I was looking for!

My husband and I designed and supervised the construction of our home. It was a rewarding, challenging, lengthy process, spanning almost 3 years from design to completion. We feel the end product was definitely worth the considerable effort and hope you enjoy and care for our home as much as we do.
