About this property
Get back to nature! Unique cabin in the mountains 15 minutes from Asheville N.C.
Wild Ridge Trail is a unique cabin perfectly tucked away in the woods just outside of Asheville N.C. and is also only a short distance to the charming town of Black Mountain! One of our guests described our place as "soul-soothing" and "undefinable" and we couldn't agree more! The cabin is simple yet modern with a touch of elegance. Please take note that our cabin is off grid and designed for the adventurous at heart! (off grid meaning there is no power or running water) yet, you won't even miss it with our set up of an off grid rain encatchment to collect water for the heated outdoor shower (seasonal) and a pretty awesome flashlight to help keep the space lit up at night! So, if you're looking to disconnect and just take it easy, then come stay for awhile!
Wild Ridge Trail was designed for the adventurous at heart! You can drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD, and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear, and hike on up! (The hike in is steep.. about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice! If you are bringing a pet, please add on the pet in the drop-down menu when booking. We do charge a $25 pet clean-up fee at the time of booking.
NOTE: DUE TO THE STEEP DRIVE, ONLY 4×4 OR AWD NO EXCEPTIONS All others will have to park at the bottom of the gravel drive and hike up.
Please note: There IS cell reception at the cabin :)
Our heated outdoor shower is closed in the cold winter months. Usually that is from late November- late March. We provide a solar camping shower bag to use for those months. There is also a Ymca 15 minutes from the cabin that offers a daypass for $15 a person and that includes their shower facilities. (We keep our winter prices lower to help cover these costs)
There is a Jackary solar power bank to help charge your phones etc..
To heat the space in the colder months, there is a unvented wall mounted propane heater that works great to heat the space BUT you MUST crack a window when running the heater or the carbon monoxide alarm will sound. We also have a small heater in the outhouse- do not leave unattended.
There is no AC in the summer but there is a battery powered fan and lots of windows for breeze.

Best stay we’ve had!!!! They truly have everything you could need. It is absolutely beautiful. They have everything from coffee, extra batteries, tea candles, card games etc. But even if you need something, there’s plenty of gas stations and a dollar general close by. Everything was easy to use including the shower and space heater. My car was unable to make it up the gravel (AWD but bad tires..), but the walk up really isn’t bad and the host was helpful and quick to reply. Will definitely be coming back!
One of the best places we have ever chosen. Loved haveing so many comforts while feeling g so connected to the outdoors. We loved sleeping with the garage door opened and the outhouse was way easier to use than I thought it would be. We even showed outdoor in the rain. Unforgettable experience!

Thank you Amy! Love hearing y'all had a great stay :)
We had such a good time here. The place was clean and had all of the amenities that you could possibly need when glamping plus some. Instructions on how to use everything were incredibly clear. You can tell a lot of thought was put into everything that is provided. The property is beautiful and the location is perfect. Already planning our next visit! 10/10 would recommend!
Overall great stay for our anniversary!! Very quiet and secluded spot but close to town. We even had a mama bear and baby cub climbing the tree outside the deck area, so that was an awesome experience

Absolutely perfect. Has changed the way we want to travel. Thank you for a lovely place to stay. The only problem is my husband now wants to build one here in Louisiana!! Thank you.
Peaceful place to stay, equipped with everything you need for a secluded weekend. The hill is no joke, so if you can't drive up be prepared to carry your belongings! Pack light!Thank you!!
Such a quaint glamping spot to relax and recharge! Close proximity to Biltmore Estate, our favorite brewery (Turgua Brewery), and grocery stores! What we loved most: peaceful setting tucked away in the woods, open air with screened bay door and screened windows, very comfy memory foam Zinus mattress, jackery to keep devices charged, wrap around porch, egg chairs for comfy lounging, and overall ambiance inside and out! Experienced our first outdoor shower and dry flush commode--pretty neat and did their jobs. Appreciate the thought put into all the extras. Plenty of water for drinking/washing, cooking basics for 2, and starter supplies. Loved that there is a dewalt battery-powered fan to help circulate air while sleeping. FYI: 2-3 (2lb) bags of ice fit in the large igloo cooler, depending on how much stuff you need to cool. Bring extra blankets, indoor lighting (lanterns/touch lights), and headlamps for night time trips to bathroom. It's pretty dark at night and hard to read/write without extra lighting. So glad we booked this place!

Thank you Cindy!! So happy you had a lovely stay and enjoyed the amenities :)
Per your request to change in your review- The cooler holds 2-3 20 lb bags of ice.
Thanks again for staying!!
The cabin is cute and I can see how it would be great for someone who enjoys glamping. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me. I take responsibility for not reading the full description carefully enough before booking, and the listing does disclose that it’s off-grid, has no AC/electricity/running water, and requires 4WD/AWD or a steep walk up.That said, the heat, limited battery-powered fan, and biting insects made it very uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving after one night of a three-night stay. I was also disappointed by the host’s response when I let her know I was leaving. I expected a little more effort to understand what went wrong or see if anything could be done to make the stay better.Cute property, but unfortunately a 2/10 experience for me. It may be a great fit for an experienced glamper, but it wasn’t the relaxing getaway I was looking for.

Thank you for leaving an honest review!
My concern was you did not read our property description before booking our place with all of the messages I was receiving upon your arrival. However, any questions you had, I responded to immediately even though I had sent you all the pre-arrival instructions.
When you reached out the morning after your first night stay letting me know you were checking out due to not having enough batteries for the fan and that our cabin was going to be more "work" than you wanted for your stay, I was a little taken back being that we leave a total of 4 backup batteries there and provide a ton of amenities for a off grid cabin experience. I understand the weather was a little warmer than usual for September but that does not warrant a 2 star review. Unfortunately we couldn't control the weather during your stay or I definitely would have. I also couldn't fix that you felt the cabin was more work than you were wanting for your vacation... So I had no idea how I could have talked you into staying when it seemed your mind was already made up. As you can see in other reviews for our cabin, we always try to provide a 5 star stay for our guests.
Incredible experience. We were a little bit confused about whether or not we found the right driveway upon arrival. We arrived after dark and trudged up the last one leg on foot. Steep but very cool The cabin is wonderfully secluded. As you step around the last bend you see the cabin. And then you notice little nooks located around the property... Two pod swings in one space, a cozy fire pit area, a hammock a little farther, and a little up the hill you'll see an amazing but slightly terrifying swing. There are cute solar lights all around the property but I'd suggest bringing some rechargeable long led lights. The toilet is very cool! Clean and not at all what I expected. Attached to the back of the outhouse is a super cute shower stall. The shower gets hot fast and the water pressure is perfect. Inside the cabin is one space but the hostess obviously put a lot of thought and care into this venture. There are so many details I wouldn't have thought to include... every time I needed something I looked around and it was there! And the bed is SO comfortable. We slept with the glass garage door up and the combination of warm coziness and crisp fresh air had me sleeping way past my normal sleep allotment. You won't regret staying here
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here! It's a beautiful, comfortable getaway in the woods. Gorgeous view and comfy bed. We both commented that it would make a great writers retreat cabin.
Beautiful home, very pleasant! Felt more comfortable than we expected given the off grid aspect. Do note that if you don't have AWD, the hike up the hill to the house is quite steep and intense! However, was well worth it. Host was also very helpful and responsive! Would stay again.
This cabin is incredible! Being able to open it up and be immersed in nature while laying in bed was awesome. This was my first off-grid cabin experience and this cabin made it great and easy. The host was very communicative when I had questions which was very helpful. I highly, highly recommend!
This was our second stay here. We absolutely love this hidden treasure. It is so peaceful and the views were great through the garage door. Especially the early evening winter moonlight. The heater was our best friend as a cold front came through. It worked great to keep us warm. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable experience in nature! We will be back!
This cabin is absolutely stunning - it is modern and has gorgeous mountain-top views! Everything was cleaned to perfection and the cabin is fully stocked with everything needed for a great weekend away. We loved being close to Asheville (about 10 minutes by car) and still able to enjoy some solitude.
Super peaceful and clean place tucked away from it all! The outdoor shower is awesome and all basic needs are met and then some. Will be back next tome we're over this way for sure.

I have been cleaning vacation rentals for over 15 years and always dreamed of creating a space of our own to share with others. It took my husband and I a long time to make that dream a reality, but it makes us appreciate it that much more! We are raising 2 kids who are 8 and 12. In our rare free time, we love to hike with our Dobermans Otto and Liberty!
Why they chose this property
We created this space to share with folks who are up for an adventure! It is simple yet elegant, rustic yet Serene.
What makes this property unique
Once you enter our cabin at Wild Ridge, we hope you feel right at home! Roll open the full view garage door and let the outside in! We hope our guests come here to escape the craziness of everyday life and can just soak in the fresh air of our N.C. mountains!
