Staying at Bird's Nest Bunkies was great! The host was friendly and helpful, they gave excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to do during our stay. The communal bathrooms were clean and so was the cabin itself. Overall, a great place to stay!
The area of the cabins was immaculate and beautifully kept. The bathrooms and showers were super clean and welcoming. Our bed was very comfortable. Karen was a joy to talk with and very accommodating. We enjoyed visiting with Red who lives there and loves apples. We loved having a fire at night. And we definitely come back for another visit.
My daughter and I were very comfortable during our stay. Both Karen and Don we're very easy to talk with, friendly, and welcoming. A beautiful place with a lovely stream teaming with life.
Just a great get away experience. Can't think of anything i wouldn't rate a 10 out of 10 with this stay. Will definitely be staying here again, and recommending this to my friends.

It was such a pleasure meeting you and your family and learning more about the Ebony Trail Ride event. I look forward to having you stay with us again in the future.
This property was beautiful! So cute for a small gathering if renting all three cabins. This was a solo visit and the peace and quiet was much appreciated! The thoughtful amenities were great! Would recommend that you bring a cooler with ice as there is only a small community fridge. But if your looking for some rest and relaxation and privacy this is the spot!
This property is wonderful! It’s truly peaceful and the perfect place to relax and recharge. Everything is stocked to perfection and Karen is a very caring host. I couldn’t have been more pleased with the place and hope to go back and stay again!

Peaceful, well-equipped getaway in a charming cabin!
We had a fantastic stay at Cozy Cabin 1 at Bird’s Nest Bunkies and Barn! The cabin was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with all the essentials. The WiFi worked perfectly throughout our stay, and having both AC and heat made it comfortable no matter the weather. The setting was serene and picturesque — a perfect escape from the city. We loved waking up to the sound of birds and sipping coffee on the porch. The host was incredibly responsive and made sure we felt right at home.If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with modern comforts tucked away in nature, this cabin is a gem. We’ll definitely be back!
We had such a sweet and quiet time! The facilities are very clean and comfortable. The extras were a nice addition (fire starter box, keurig, grab snacks, hair dryer, etc). Karen was so hospitable and accommodating and we will definitely be coming back when we are in the area!

I loved my stay here! Super clean, cozy and quiet. Truly loved going to sleep listening to the owls in the woods. Waking up in the morning to fresh coating of frost on the ground. The room was clean, bed was comfy and I wished I didn’t have such a short stay. The communication with the owner was fantastic and I hated coming in so late but she gave me great directions. I would stay here again in a heart beat!
I needed a pit stop fir my travels . Couldn’t ask for better hosts or place to lay my head . Wonderful experience in a peaceful setting . Hosts treat you like a guest staying in their own home . Love it !
Staying here was an amazing experience and everything we needed for a quick trip to Ellensboro and Shelby area. Karen was amazing in meeting with and us when we arrived and also showing us around the property/facilities. We were not traveling with horses but would definitely consider returning with horses in the future. Thank you Karen for an amazing experience and very clean and comfortable place to sleep!

You are very welcome Randall! I so enjoyed meeting you and having you stay with us. I am looking forward to seeing you again in the future.
The shared bathhouse is state of the art and VERY clean as well as the sleeping buildings. My husband and I are retired military and we like it quiet, peaceful and safe. This place delivered on all three. We have already stayed there two nights and will stay again when we are back in town. It is very pet friendly. The WiFi signal is strong. Customer service was just outstanding!!! We strongly recommend this as a place to stay.
Beautiful/quaint cottage surrounded completely by trees. Comfortable bed in air conditioned unit. Shower house was very clean and the shower pressure/water temp was perfect. Towels/shower supplies were provided by host. Horses were being boarded the night we stayed and were a welcome sight while we had our host provided coffee in the morning. Snacks were also provided. Hosts had great communication and welcomed us upon arrival. Would definitely stay again if we're ever in the area in the future! Wonderful stay!

What a wonderful find! I stayed in one of the Cabins for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The host was fantastic. She met me upon my arrival and told me all about the property. It was peaceful, comfortable and well maintained. The separate building that housed a kitchen and laundry area, and two large bathroom/shower facilities, were quite nice and very clean. Loved seeing the horse in the pasture, as well as the abundant deer and the bee box. Tucked away in the country, but a short drive to restaurants and wineries. Can’t wait to stay there again!

We really enjoyed the slice of quiet, quality family time this property offered. From the moment we arrived, Karen greeted us as though we were family. The property was well manicured and peaceful. The cabin was comfortable and cozy with just enough space for the 4 of us. The bathhouse/kitchenette was beyond our expectations. It has 2 huge private bath/shower rooms. The kitchenette has a table for 2 and was nicely stocked with snacks, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, etc. We loved the fire pit and the friendly horse being boarded. We could tell many thoughtful touches were caringly put into place for the guests’ benefit. We appreciated these and would definitely stay here if we ever pass through again.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Bird
My husband Don and I have traveled and lived all over the country and for many years our equine companions moved from state to state with us. During these transitions, we could not find a comfortable stay for both us and our horses and out of this frustration, our business concept was born! We are now sharing our beautiful farm in the North Carolina foothills with people traveling with their horses as well as people that want to experience the wonderful offerings of our area.
Why they chose this property
There are so many places to explore within a 30-60 minute drive from our property. Tryon Equestrian Center, Chimney Rock, South Mountain Park, The Biltmore Estate, waterfall trails in Hendersonville, and many more. Forest City and Shelby are 15-20 minutes away and each have their own unique restaurants and brew pubs. There are also several very good wineries to visit within a 20-minute drive.
What makes this property unique
Rural farm location with opportunities to see the varied wildlife that live here as well. Deer, Red Tailed Hawks, Turkey, Racoon, and lots of different birds.
