About this property

Beautiful Sunny Two Bedroom in Historic Beacon Hill

** Back on VRBO after long term rental - new pictures updated photos to come shortly** Historic Boston is the perfect vacation setting and this rental unit is in the center of it all. Located behind the gold domed statehouse Beacon Hill is rich with architectural beauty. The streets of Beacon Hill are still lit by gas lamps today. The start of the Freedom Trail is just over the hill. Many fabulous restaurants and pubs are just a short walk away, as are most of the popular tourist attractions.

Easy access to the ferries bound for Provincetown, Gloucester and whale watching. The rental is just over the river from MIT and Harvard, and just around the corner for Mass General and Suffolk University.

Seasonally the city comes alive with the head of the Charles Regatta, First Night ice sculptures, skating on the Frog Pond, graduations, the Swan Boats in the Public Gardens, concerts at the Hatch Shell, the Boston Pops, the running of the Boston Marathon and the Boston Red Sox!

Beacon Hill Charmer

Our daughter’s 18th birthday coincided with the long Thanksgiving weekend. We needed a way to make it special in spite of the quarantine. She suggested we find a vrbo in the Back Bay (one of her favorite places) to move our bubble to. This was the perfect setting. Just a block from the Boston Commons, 2 blocks up hill from the eminently walkable Charles Street, the apartment was ideally located. More spacious than it appears in the photos, it was all the room the 4 of us (2 parents, 2 adult children) needed for a quiet weekend of reading books, playing cards, and binge watching Netflix favorites. The wifi worked just fine for us. We had a simple Thanksgiving meal (roast chix, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce), which we found easy to prepare in the well-equipped kitchen. Each day, we donned masks and took nice long walks along the Charles River and through the Back Bay. We could not have enjoyed our stay more and hope to return.

Great location home away from home

I would love to stay here again!! Why is it home away from home? I had to change the battery in the hallway smoke detector . First night no sleep with the constant beeping. neighbors had no idea what todo ( very nice people), and the ants every morning visited us by the kitchen sink (alot of them). So needed to keep any packaged food off that counter. The owner has barely any communication but the property manger answered me in a timely manner but she lives in Indiana I think? So with that said everything else was perfect . Loved the 5 story walk up, yes you must be able to climb the steps. The pictures are what it is , beautiful bright spacious apartment in the heart of Beacon Hill. Great views from the front and back windows of the trees and surrounding gardens and patios .I have to be completely honest with reviews since I treasure your reviews when Im looking for a place to stay in unfamiliar cities or towns. The beds are comfortable and bedding and towels very nice. Its a mish mosh of furniture that became quaint . Needs another couch in living room. Oh yes the wifi and cable DID NOT work the whole time we were there. Which before I rented was a very important to us since my daughters were doing virtual school. The cable not working always turns out to be a blessing:)We used our hotspots the whole time. They offered to pay if we were charged on my plan but we were not so issue there. I was paid for the battery I had to get. I do wish we were compensated a little more for everything but A very good plus they agreed we could stay for a late check out till our time to leave for airport. I highly recommend staying here we felt at home and cozy just know nothings perfect.

Christmas on Beacon Hill with family

Once at the apartment, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bedrooms and living room and bathroom were more spacious than I thought from pictures. My family of 4 were very comfortable and warm (did not have to turn on the heat much). My son was able to make a six item Christmas dinner with a prime roast with the kitchen and supplied utensils. The apartment is within easy reach of all Beacon Hill, the commons, and Downtown Crossing. We have visited the area many times and stayed in the Boston Plaza but that was too expensive for three rooms so I found this apartment. Save money and felt at home and had quality time with the family. I will stay there again if available. I did bump my head on the entrance doorway but remembered the rest of the many times of going out and in. There are only 49 stairs and not as difficult as I thought. In fact, got used to them. The street is quiet. The building is quiet. The neighbors are quiet. Very relaxing. Lisa answered all questions and was very easy to get in touch with. No problems with entire experience. I understand why the apartment is booked and feel lucky that we were able to reserve before others for this trip. The apartment was the cornerstone of our family experience.

Beacon Hill Apartment

Great stay over Thanksgiving! Enjoyed the apartment, the neighborhood! Centrally located, not far from many restaurants, Boston Common, Charles street, Back Bay, etc., Apartment was very quiet, neighborhood quiet, safe. The 49 stairs to the 3rd floor apartment were a bit of a challenge bringing up heavy suitcases! Thanks to my teenage daughters, it was manageable. Very clean, and had adequate cooking utensils, not common for vacation rentals.

Once we figured out how to get in, all was good!

Property is located in quaint Beacon Hill neighborhood within walking distance of Boston Commons and Public Gardens. The weather was beautiful while we were in town for a business conference. Property was a great, cost effective alternative to staying at the conference hotel.

Great find on Beacon Hill

A fabulous apartment in a great location. Beautifully furnished and well equipped. Bit concerned at lack of light bulbs and non-operational smoke detectors however. We thoroughly enjoyed living so centrally in this vibrant location.

Location--Comfort--Location!

We'll come back here again! The apartment is in the best of locations. It is central to so many of the sights and restaurants of Boston. The apartment was amazingly quiet considering that it is so close to busy Beacon St. It's location makes it walkable to just about everything we wanted to see. (We walked about 50 miles during our seven days here.) Lisa was very responsive when we needed assistance with anything. The apartment was clean and comfortable and if you are wanting to do any cooking, the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, dishes and glasses. But why cook when there are so many good restaurants around! We look forward to our next trip to Boston.

Great little hideaway in Beacon Hill!

The apartment was beautiful, clean and well stocked. You couldn't ask for a better location if you want to be in downtown Boston; a couple of blocks from Charles Street, The Common and only a little farther to the closest T stop. It's also quite quiet, even on a weekday morning as the City is waking up and getting moving. Chestnut street doesn't seem to carry a ton of traffic. It is a bit of a hike to get up the stairs to the apartment. But if you can handle the climb, you'll be well rewarded!

more accurate property description

It was not stated in the property description that this rental is a 3rd floor walk up apartment with 49 steps up a winding staircase. The description of finding the actual entry door and other doors to get to the apartment were also hard to understand.

Lovely place

Staying in Beacon Hill is a bit of a fairytale. Warning:. Boston has a bit of those San Francisco hills in it. The place was lovely. My 14 yearold had to help me with the initial lock box. Best parking was 5 minutes away as Lisa suggested. Thank you for a great time.

We loved the apartment

Beautiful, quiet location in leafy Beacon Hill. Short walk to shops, restaurants, the common, Charles River, Freedom Trail .... we walked to everything apart from the JFK library when we used the metro. The apartment had everything we needed. The little kitchen was well equipped, the rooms were large and light filled; decorated and very comfortably furnished in keeping with the character of the property which made it so welcoming and a perfect home from home in such a historic city. All the equipment worked. Very reliable WiFi. Lisa, the manager, was very responsive and helpful if we had any questions. The apartment was quiet, benefiting from being at the top of the building, but be warned - there are 50 steps to climb up the stairs and no lift. The lobby and stairs are also freshly painted and hung with old pictures and prints. It was great to stay somewhere that is obviously cherished. We feel very fortunate to have found this property for our family's visit to Boston.

Wonderful location, central to everything

This is a very comfortable base from which to explore Boston. Neighborhood is second to none--beautiful, historic, quiet--with Boston Common and Boston Gardens right around the corner. Although we had a small snafu on arrival, the landlord and building manager smoothed everything out perfectly. My two friends and I were quite comfortable--it was typical Boston summer heat and humidity--but the A/C worked perfectly. Great spot, great value. One caveat--be prepared for the stairs, it's a long, winding trip to the top floor, but well worth the climb. Will be happy to return next time I'm Boston-bound.

Great location in Boston

Great location in walking distance to freedom trail. Many restaurants and a grocery store near by. Because we made several side trips (Mystic, CT, Newport, RI, Martha's Vineyard) a rental car was necessary which we parked in the Boston Common Garage. If you were to stay entirely in Boston, a rental care would be unnecessary. Uber/Cab plus walking would suffice. Speaking of walking, this apartment is on the fourth floor with no elevator. Would not be the best place for someone with physical dissabilities.

beware very steep spiral stairs

We loved the apartment. it was clean and in a great location. Only hesitation to stay again would be the staircase. I think people should be aware that it is a long way to the 4th floor with luggage. We were fine but people should know.
