Dear Kent,
I am so sorry you were disappointed by the look "age" of property; the photos show exactly what the property looks like, and it is not a brand-new construction; but it is a gorgeous home, and I am completely shocked by your comment, as we always get so many incredible reviews on the beauty of this house, me included, as I see homes everyday as a realtor. To say this property is "dated" is bizarre indeed. On another note, your rental fee was less than a room in any standard hotel; so, for the same price as a hotel room, you got a 3-bedroom castle divided by 3 guests; unbelievably cheap; when you compare the quality and the price you paid, this rental should be rated a "10", if it existed. If you wanted a newer home, you should have doubled your budget.
I am very sorry about the utensils and pans; it may have been an oversight from the last cleaning, and I apologize. First time I hear this comment.
Hot tub is maintained weekly by a company, just like a pool; we keep it nice and clean, and guests enjoy it very much. You were right about adding water, because the next day, the maintenance company told me there was indeed a leak, and they took care of it. But the hot tub works fine, it was just used again yesterday and is in perfect condition. "Finicky" is a strange word: is it Canadian expression? So, “Finicky” because you added water?
Regarding the TV channels, like all short-term rentals, we supply WIFI and a Smart TV, so you can access any channel you want; additionally, most guests have their own way of viewing their favorite channels through their private subscriptions, but it is the first time I have this comment.
Regarding your comment about "coffee": like most hosts, we do not supply groceries, coffee included: what kind of coffee? there are so many out there :-) Tea? what else? Now with groceries, we go into "liability" issues: expired dates, rotten stuff etc. Guests know they have rented a house, not a hotel room; they know they have to bring their supplies to their new home. As a matter of fact, I often tell guests they only need to purchase groceries, as we supply all paper products, and cleaning supplies. There are always tons of spices and sometimes oils and vinegars left by previous occupants.
On your comment about the location: the listing mentions the distance to town and other important locations. You can also see on the map, where everything is.
As you mention the "nice location on the lake" is exactly the reason why it is beautiful and remote, because of the distance to town: you can't have it all, Kent; I do understand as a senior citizen, you want to be closer to town; maybe, you should have made a better search, or get help from others more used to internet searching, especially when coming from a different country.
