About this property

Historic Bungalow on Centrally Located Half-Acre Private Lot

This centrally-located historic home (19 years older than Alaska’s statehood) was once a volunteer fire department, had the first telephone line in Homer, and was the former home of a prominent fish cannery proprietor! Enjoy it’s convenient central location as your gateway to the amazing Kachemak Bay, Homer Spit and Kenai Mountains!

At the Bungalow, you are only:
3 min 🚶to Pratt Museum
5 min🚶to S. Peninsula Hospital
5 min 🚶 to local shops and restaurants
5 min 🚗 to Bishop’s Beach and NWR Visitor Center
10 min 🚗 to Homer Spit
30 min 🛥 to Grewingk Glacier and KBay State Park
30 min 🛥 to Halibut Cove

Situated on a half acre sunny ☀️ lot, our home is centrally located in downtown Homer, yet feels like an urban oasis. Our incredible backyard features a natural gas fire pit, comfy chairs, a picnic table, and charcoal grille. Snap a photo by our unique and stunning technicolor mural of the Homer Spit and Kachemak Bay while relaxing on our back deck. Lastly, our driveway provides ample space for up to 4 cars 🚗 or 2 large vehicles 🛻.

Lovingly cared for, this home was recently renovated with the guests’ comfort in mind. Highlights include a top to bottom redesign featuring new furniture from West Elm, fixtures, flooring and local artists’ work proudly displayed. With 4 bedrooms 🛌, we can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests.

ENTERING THE BUNGALOW
From the tiered deck, enter into a light-filled mudroom where you can kick off your XTRATuf boots and make yourself at home. For your convenience we have a washer and dryer if you’ve gotten extra muddy on your adventures! To your right is a tucked away sitting room complimented with an electric fireplace for comfort. Snuggle up on our comfy couch with a good book, Netflix and chill or enjoy your morning coffee ☕️.

LOWER FLOOR
Passing through the entry area and sitting room, turn right and you will encounter our light-filled kitchen and eating nook with seating for 4 (or 6 with the leaves out). Though Homer has many stellar restaurants you should explore (we’ve called out some of our favorites in our welcome guide!), nothing beats a home-cooked meal with your freshly caught fish 🎣 ! So we’ve thought of everything in our fully-stocked kitchen to make your home-cooked meals really shine.

Passing through the kitchen and dining area, you will enter the living room, with walls of windows letting in lots of natural sunlight. Curl up in front of the fireplace, or spread out for game night - this space is designed for relaxation and enjoying time with your friends and family! A home office nook is located off of the living room for those looking to use our high speed wifi for work or play.

Next to the office nook is a hallway which leads to our two full bathrooms, upgraded with new flooring, vanities and lighting. One bathroom has a full tub 🛀 and shower 🚿 and the other has a shower🚿.

UPPER FLOOR
From the hallway, ascend the stairs to the upper level where we have 4 tastefully appointed bedrooms – don’t worry, you won’t need to fight over who gets the best room! All beds have memory foam mattresses and black-out curtains to ensure a good night’s sleep after a long day of adventuring. We have three bedrooms sporting queen beds, as well as one bedroom with a luxurious king platform bed and your own private balcony - step out and have a quiet moment in the morning, listening to the natural world wake up, or sit out with a nightcap to unwind before bed!

So please treat yourself to an amazing getaway at our historic bungalow - lovely Homer is calling your name! We seek to provide you with a 5-star experience - thank you for your visit to the stunningly beautiful Kenai Peninsula and Kachemak Bay!

Adorable house + great location
We loved this little house. It was in the perfect location, just a walk away from restaurants, the beach and the playground. We will plan to stay here again in the future!

I build tiny homes, unique spaces and create curated experiences. My passion is to help others enjoy our fleeting, yet memorable moments spent away from home. Allow me the opportunity to host you!

Born and raised in Anchorage, AK, I'm an Alaskan at heart. I am a food scientist (by trade), an amateur mycologist (mushrooms), outdoor enthusiast (cycling, pack-rafting, backpacking), travel junkie and ecology buff. If we run into each other at the property, ask me about travel, mushrooms, food, hospitality, or where to hike!

Why they chose this property

The Bungalow is centrally located and walkable to most destinations in Homer, yet maintains a peaceful serenity on our sunny ☀️ half acre private lot. This change in scenery is just one of the ways that this home sets itself apart from any other place in Homer.

What makes this property unique

Modern design in a historic home. This home was host to the first telephone line, cannery owner and volunteer fire department in Homer. Come stay in a slice of Homer history!
