> Fully stocked kitchen with everything you need to cook a homemade meal or simply toast & coffee. We have all the pots, pans, dishes, crockpot, ninja blender/chopper, ladles, spatulas, baking pans etc that you'll need!

> Indoor Wood Fired Masonry Oven - great for homemade pizzas!

> Coffee - We love it and know you do too. We have a coffee bar dedicated to it all. You'll find a Nespresso, drip coffee maker, electic frother, kettle, Keurig, chemex pour-over and bean grinder along with pods, sugar, tea, creamer, etc.

> 65" Samsung Smart TV in the Living Room and 43" Samsung Smart TV in the Master Bedroom.

>Super fast reliable Starlink Internet

>Weber Genesis EX propane gas grill - 750 square inches of cooking area

> Passive Solar - Coyote Cabin has floor to ceiling windows utilizing passive solar as one of our heat sources. You never have a reason to be cold inside the Coyote Cabin (you may even need to open a window or 2 on sunny days. Yes, even when it's in the single digits outside). The house also has in floor heat in the master, radiant heat throughout and is an ON GRID cabin meaning there is electric & gas heat if you prefer not to utilize the fireplace/passive solar. Enjoy a rustic feel with all the modern amenities

> Masonry Stove / Russian Fireplace - Additionally, the cabin is outfitted with our gem - a massive floor to ceiling Russian fireplace that is a centuries old concept and far more efficient than a usual household fireplace. Should you choose to use the fireplace, you only need to build 1 fire every 12 hours (in the downstairs dining area), then spend the rest of your time cozying up to the fireplace with a good book, a game, or glass of wine.

> Dog Friendly - We accept max 2 well behaved, adult, housebroken dogs for an additional fee of $85. This covers the extra time it takes to remove hairs, etc from the house and bedding and keep our house looking great.

> Fishing Pond - Our guests have access to a community fishing pond.

LOCATION

***PLEASE NOTE - The cabin sits on 6 acres so you will enjoy plenty of privacy (and will most likely see wildlife). However, there is a horse barn on the adjacent property that the owners may use at times. The house and the barn share the long driveway as well. The barn is not part of the 6 acres our guests enjoy and we will not disturb any of our guests (however feel free to wave if you see us!). The house and the barn are separated by a large aspen grove and no horses live on site at this time.

Coyote Cabin is 25 miles to Breckenridge and 5 miles from the town of Fairplay. 45 mins to Buena Vista for whitewater rafting, or 1 hour from Salida (fun hipster town). It's 1.5 hrs from Downtown Denver and 2 Hours to Denver International Airport.

It is located withing walking distance to Pike-San Isabel National Forest for easy hiking, back country skiing, snow shoeing, bike riding, etc.

We are at 10,300 ft in elevation in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

While our roads are maintained by Park County, it is best to have a 4WD or AWD in winter months (not necessary in Summer months). The last 1 mile to the property is unpaved.

BEDROOMS
> Master - the master bedroom is a very large suite all on it's own with a King Bed and sitting area. There is also a Samsung Smart TV in the master bedroom. The Washer and Dryer are in the huge closet and the only full standing shower is in the master bedroom bathroom / sauna. Blackout curtains and shades for a good nights rest.

> Bedrooms 1 & 2 - both have queen beds, 1 is just off the kitchen and the other is just off the dining room on the bottom level. Bedroom 1 has blackout curtains, bedroom 2 has light filtering shades.

BATHROOMS
> Master Bath - has a full standing shower & sauna
> Guest Bath - Located centrally in the home, the guest bath has a full luxurious jetted tub with a spray nozzle (no standup shower).

4th of July Sanctuary

We needed a retreat over the Holiday with our dogs and this place was perfect. Super quiet, peaceful & gorgeous views yet only 10 minutes from Fairplay. We enjoyed pizza from the wood fired oven and the fire pit outside very much! The hosts were responsive and lovely. Recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy this beautiful area whether you are hiking, biking, fishing or 4-wheeling.

Cabin getaway

We had a great stay at Jessica's cabin. She was very responsive to questions in advance of booking, as we wanted to be sure to stay somewhere that had snow on the ground as it was early in the season. She confirmed the recent snowfall for us. The cabin is close enough to town (Fairplay) or even Breck (if you want to make the drive) but far enough away to just enjoy the peace and queit. The pizza oven was a hit!

Beautiful views in the South Park Valley

If you’re looking for a beautiful and peaceful getaway, it would be hard to beat this place. The home is large, with good privacy between the three bedrooms. The furnishings are comfortable and warm. And the kitchen / pantry are fully stocked with everything you might need (and a great coffee bar). The national forest is a 10 minute walk, and if you need anything, town is just a ten minute drive. The dogs loved it, we loved it. A perfect home-away-from-home.

About the host

Hosted by Jessica Orth

Host profile image
Hi! We are Simon & Jessica, your hosts at Coyote Cabin. We are a couple for well over 2 decades now and we love to travel and see this beautiful earth.

As a guest we are low key and considerate. Wherever we stay we like to pretend we actually live in the places we visit and often stay a while. We will cook meals at the houses we stay, we'll watch TV, do a little work (we both work from a laptop only) but we'll also see the local sights.

If I had to describe our hosting style I would say we pretty much expect our guests to be the kind of guests we are. So feel free to cook in our place, kick back and relax and enjoy yourself. But, of course, treat it kindly along the way :)

Why they chose this property

My husband started his search in 2014 for the perfect property in Park County. That year during a trip to Breckenridge he decided to travel up the road a bit & discovered South Park County and the towns of Alma & Fairplay.

Little did he know where the years of keeping an eye on Park County would lead us.

Fairplay is this tiny gem of a town in an area that still feels wild yet has everything you need to truly be able to enjoy that wild.

Something to know about my husband is that he has always had a fascination with alternative building practices, green energy, using reclaimed, repurposed, and green materials. Think earthships, straw bale building, rammed earth homes, earth bag building, passive solar, tiny homes, etc.

In early 2021 he saw land prices start to move up and long story short we took a trip to the area with the intent to buy a patch of land to build our dreams on.

We soon discovered that building in the mountains is a huge undertaking and changed our focus to finding something in the area that could fit our budget even if it wasn't the home of our dreams.

Spoiler alert, we found the home of our dreams anyway.

In June / July of 2022 we stumbled on Coyote Cabin. I fell in love with it and kept coming back to look at it over and over. Fast forward and skip over lots of sweating over tons of details we won't get into here; everything came together and we became the proud new owners of this beautiful gem amidst some of the earth's most spectacular beauty.

Was I afraid of the challenge? Not even!

We budgeted 3 weeks to measure the space and choose all the perfect furniture and decor, arrange for necessary services, etc so it would be perfect. But if you've ever furnished a home to make it as beautiful in it's furnishings and comforts and also host regular guests, you know we still had quite a way to go. 3 weeks turned to 6 and we are still striving (and always will be) to get there.

We hope you love it as much as we do. :)

What makes this property unique

Every room has stellar, amazing, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious views! Seriously, no picture can truly communicate the feeling of peace and tranquility as you drink your coffee and take in the natural beauty that surrounds this amazing home. You will just want to sit staring out the windows ... often.

Combine those views with the beautiful rugged craftsmanship of this home, the painstaking thought that went into it's eco friendly design, the quality of the materials used in the structure, the massive masonry wood burning stove, the sweeping landscape of the property ... we truly feel blessed to just be able to be part of this home and not only enjoying it, but also haring it with others.
