About this property
Fall Colors! Lux Riverfront, Hot Tub, In & Outdoor Fireplace & Best place in QC.
Newly remodeled, 3 Bedroom w/HotTub & Amazing River Views. 1500 sq ft, w/3 bedrooms (2 king & 1 double), 1 air mattress & couch in Living Room. Smart TVs, 2 ceramic tile showers, fully equipped kitchen w/filtered water & Hinckley Spring H2O delivery, designer cement countertops, LARGE island for entertaining, abundant windows & light, woodburning fireplace, deck rope lighting, grill & steps away to the riverside fire-pit & hammocks.
The space
Hot Tub is for use all year round; Hot/Cold weather.
Home directly across from a very secluded wooded area separated by Spencer Creek. Fishing/Hunting is abundant/Kayaking is available (must bring your own)/Bonfires are permitted/encouraged for hot dog roasting and ghost story telling. We will try to have firewood avail & bug spray for those that are sensitive (Wood in the Garage; Bug Spray on patio and kitchn closet). If out of season to get bulk firewood to supply, they sell bundles at Home Depot, Lowes, Hy-Vee Grocery etc. only 10-15 minutes away. Reminder, we also have a gas grill on the upper deck next to the hot tub area, and we now have a charcoal smoker unit (Cherry Chips flavor) for use as well. We will try to have Charcoal and flavor chips avail if needed, if not Hy-Vee would be the closet place to grab some!
2 rope tree hammocks avail in season at the point of the yard @ waterfront, all in all, family fun is plentiful! Plenty of space for any overflow guests who may want to camp-out in the large grass yard area.
The wildlife is STUNNING with Bald Eagles, Canadian Geese, Storks, Cranes, Pelicans, Hummingbirds, etc. etc. etc. for all viewing pleasure. There is a veggie and herb garden (season permitting) that you are free to access and cook with. We will work hard to ensure you have a welcome bottle of red/white wine awaiting your check-in. :) Once settled, please have a cocktail (or 2) and just kick back and relax as the entire place is your home away from home while you visit.
Guest access
Whole house and yard are yours to use. Barn and Garage will not be available unless there is inclement weather and we can help as needed.

A bit of History of the Valley Inn on main Highway:
(Including rumors Al Capone frequented Valley Inn in Pleasant Valley);
Pleasant Valley is one of the oldest towns in Iowa. It was first settled in the early 1830's and the first business was an old grist mill that sat near where the Valley Inn stands today. Soon thereafter, a sawmill was built nearby. These two businesses helped with the development of early settlements in the immediate area.
In the late 1830's or early 1840's a hotel/tavern was built on the spot where Valley Inn sits today. The original rubble foundation still exists and is visible on the exterior of the restaurant. Eventually, the second floor was turned into an elaborate ballroom before the place was turned into what was believed to be a gambling hall in the late 1800's. The upstairs ballroom was eventually replaced by two apartments which remained in place before a complete remodel of the Valley Inn took place in 2012.
When Prohibition took hold in 1919, it was rumored that the Valley Inn became a speakeasy and hangout for organized crime members. Al Capone was said to have frequented the Valley Inn before he was convicted on income tax evasion in 1931.
The Valley Inn has undergone a number of owners over the years. After serving in the army in World War II, Ambrose Carlin came home and bought the Valley Inn in 1948. He ran the place for 30 years before he retired and his daughter Frances Devlin took over. The normally is full of people and has a great patio out back. The age mix of people in the place ranged from their early 20's into their 70's. Renovated in 2012 gave the place a very needed face-lift including a new kitchen and bar area. Check it out - it's walkable if you wish from the house, or just a 3 minute drive.

Why they chose this property
Essentially, this property is located within the county (not city limits) & therefore you are free to relax and enjoy your stay with your family / friends and kick back for a relaxing experience along the Mississippi River.
If you’re looking for boat/jet ski rentals there are 3 marinas within 10 minutes away in LeClaire. Please see the photos for their names, addresses. You can google their phone number to call as we can’t list them due to Vrbo restrictions.
Marina 1 - Grace Marine, LeClaire IA
Marina 2 - Captains Quarters Marina, LeClaire IA
Marina 3 - Green Gables, LeClaire IA
Please take NOTE - all of the rental marinas are on the Northside of Lock & Dam 14, which also is where the beaches and the boat play areas are located (near Princeton IA).
Our house is located on the Southside of Lock & Dam 14, and for experienced boat captains only, you will need to be able to navigate through the Lock to reach the property. We HIGHLY suggest if you want to do a day on the river, please know how to navigate the Lock & Dam process and please realize if the water level is low, to be VERY careful attempting to sail up to the House embankment.

What makes this property unique
Local Tip: you’ll have more fun if you keep your boat/jet ski rental North of the Lock for the day, and simply drive in/out of the marinas that are less than 10 minutes away.
Lastly, you can swim and raft (at your own risk) either to the left of the house in the large open water area (shallow), or off to the right of the house where the water is deeper with more current. Please be careful if you decide to to partake as the Mighty Mississippi is a wonderful place, but can get choppy at times. We do NOT provide any water gear, floats, vests, kayaks etc. you will need to bring your own, but stay safe and have fun!
Looking for an on-land Beach access? If you cannot rent a boat/jet ski, there is one beach in the area, called Buffalo Shores Beach, approx 30 minutes away, in Buffalo IA. (Other one is located at West Lake Park, and is closed for renovations). At Buffalo Shores Beach, it is not normally crowded, dog friendly, free parking, family-friendly, extremely clean and ample space to lay out and/or picnic. Any GPS should easily find Buffalo Shores Beach for directions.
Getting around - You will need a car for sure, but as mentioned previously, the gas station, BP, and 2 eateries are within walking distance if you choose. Other restaurants (BierStube, Pizza Hut, McDonalds) are 5 minutes away towards LeClaire @ I80. Hy-Vee Grocery store 15 mins away surrounded by many other food places and a Whitey's Ice Cream Parlor. Food delivery is also possible via Door Dash and other Apps for Pizza and all other types of local cuisine. Will have more info in the welcome binder.
During your stay - 179th St Pl is the FIRST LEFT TURN and is a Dead end Rd that into our driveway. House has a Self Check-in Keypad. We are always a phone call away for any assistance or questions. We value privacy, and we will ensure you are able to enjoy the entire space for your stay.
