One must-see destination is Pilgrim Pond Park, where you can witness history come alive. Imagine standing in the very spot where the Pilgrims spent their second night in the new world, way back on November 16, 1620. A plaque commemorates this event and lists the names of the brave Pilgrims who set foot on American soil, including Myles Standish, William Bradford, Stephen Hawkins, and Edward Tilley. Don't miss out on this immersive experience that will transport you back in time!
Visit one of the most historic and picturesque lighthouses in the United States! Highland Light Station, aka Cape Cod Light, is nestled in the stunning Cape Cod National Seashore in North Truro. This beacon of light has been guiding ships safely since its establishment in 1797 and is one of the oldest light stations in the country. But wait, there's more! Highland Light has also captured the heart of famous naturalist and author Henry David Thoreau, who visited several times in the 1850s. According to Thoreau, the lighthouse was ''a neat building, in apple-pie order.'' So not only is Highland Light a significant part of American history, but it's also a sight to behold with its well-kept appearance. Add this gem to your must-visit list, and prepare to be amazed!
