A great country home in beautiful Albemarle County! Gives the feeling of complete privacy, peace and seclusion while still only being 15 mins drive to HollyMeade Shopping Center (Target, Harris Teeter, Bonefish Grill etc) and CHO Airport and only 25 mins to Downtown Charlottesville and UVA Grounds (campus). You are also a 15 minute drive from the Swift Rung Gap Entrance Station to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive. There are 4 wineries within a 10 minute drive (one is only 4 mins!).
There is a nice front porch with beautiful Mountain Views, a huge grass backyard with nice swing set, 3 fire pit areas with comfy outdoor seating areas. There is also a small river on the property so you can hear water running and are welcome to swim or fish in when it's deep. (The depth fluctuates depending on rainfall and season)
There are 3 acres of yard with a small back deck and 3 different firepit areas with comfortable seating! Also the front covered porch is nice to sit on and view the mountains. One of the firepits is gas, the others are for burning wood. There is Corn Hole set for you to play and a Charcoal Grill and Smoker!
As you may lose cell service when you get close to the place, please make sure you take a screenshot of the check-in info and WiFi password beforehand.
Pets are allowed with a $100 fee per each pet for stays of 4 nights or fewer (pet fee will be greater for stays over 4 nights so please ask before booking if you'd like to check the longer stay pet fee amount). You MUST let me know about any pets in your welcome VRBO message. *Pet fee is to be paid after booking. Pet fee is NOT included in the booking price that VRBO collects, whether or not you mark pets in the reservation.* I ask you to NOT let pets on any furniture or beds and to pick up any waste in the yard.
Firewood, charcoal, lighter fluid, propane or other fire starters are not provided. If you would like to use the firepits or charcoal grill, please bring all the supplies you would need for this. One firepit is gas powered and uses a refillable propane tank. If this tank is empty and you wish to use this firepit, you are welcome to bring the empty tank to a local propane tank retailer to switch out for a full tank and reinstall. If firepits or charcoal grill are used by guest, you are responsible for cleaning them after use so it's ready for next guest. The cleaning crew does not clean firepits or grill.
I want guests to be able to check-in as early as possible. Due to the large amount of linens to be laundered between guests and the short amount of time do it, the washer/dryer will often have linens in them so that another load can run after cleaner leaves. You are welcome to use the washer/dryer, but will sometimes have to take out a load in order to do so. If you specifically know you will use the washer/dryer during your stay and don't want to have to do this, please let me know prior to check-in and I'll tell my cleaner to leave them empty for you.
Only the number of guests that you book for are allowed on the property at any time. If you would like to increase your guest count, the nightly rate may go up and you would need to pay this difference.

First, I think there was a bit of miscommunication with what my family member replied to earlier questions. The beds we used were fine. One in another room looked like the mattress was rather humpy. Color & trim on outside of house looked nice. The modern kitchen was furnished, a bit sparse on fry pans & bowls, but other furnishings that were there were nice. Bed & bath linens were ample & nice, toiletries included. Beds & furniture were clean, appliances nice, & lighting, curtains, & general decor were inviting. We loved seeing the mountains. Firepits looked inviting, but we did not need. Any/all connections with host were friendly, & a friendly country store nearby. The windows and sills were not cleaned. When we got there, half of the windows were not locked. We did not find any info /sign in book of any kind at the property, may not be a big deal - it just felt like communicating to the host, if needed, would be problematic, since the wifi service was very spotty. More comfy seating would make the living room feel more inviting for lounging there. Grass wasn't freshly cut. Is the "river front" advertising a bit of a stretch? The old cars & broken down lawn furnitures around the fringes felt a bit "creepy".Booking & reserving was easy & smooth. We definitely had our money's worth - a place to get away & relax. Thank you!
We were close to two park entrances, a cute little market called MayBelles right around the corner and the house is dog friendly, this was HUGE for us :) We had a great visit, we'd would consider staying here again.
The house was very clean when I arrived. The host gave me all of the details of the of the house right away when I booked. I will definitely stay here again if ever in the area
The house was very cute had everything we needed. The property was quiet and peaceful, with a pretty view. It was relatively close to the Swift Run entrance to Shenandoah National Park (15-20 min). Overall, it was a great stay!
House was clean and well stocked. Keurig machine even came with coffee pods. Pretty view of the mountains. Host’s communication was excellent. Family and dog had a great time.
This was a wonderful stay. It’s far enough away and tucked back on the twisty roads that its serene but it’s also close enough to several towns so you have access to what you need. Shenandoah is only a 20 minute drive so this is the perfect spot if you’re looking to get an early start. There’s no cell service which is refreshing and the sunsets are picturesque. Wonderful stay. Highly recommend.
Place was awesome. There was a great view from the front porch. There is a gas station less than a half mile away, which is very convenient.
We were able to get to either Monticello or Montpelier in less than an hour. The town of Crozet is about 40 minutes away, which also has plenty to do. The location made it easy for us to get to all the places we wanted to go.
I would absolutely stay at this place again.
Great property, large well laid out home, very comfortable furniture and clean, with large yard. Close proximity to several vineyards, easy access to Charlottesville (proper), quick drive to Shenandoah National Forest. Very responsive host. If you are looking to disconnect, relax, and defrag, this a great property to visit.
Easy check in and check out process. If you like the country and mountains this is the place. Conveniently located down the street from the gas station a small store/ restaurant and not a far drive from the Shenandoah National Park. The reason we chose this place is because it is dog friendly and near the Shenandoah mountains. We visited the mountains for some day hikes. The house is nicely kept and spacious with a big yard.
We loved our stay! The house was cute and comfy with plenty of room for our teens to be alone. It was perfect for our dogs with a big backyard and river for them to play in. Our girls have outgrown swing sets, but there is a nice one out back for littles. The location is phenomenal. We were 30 minutes from Charlottesville and about 30 minutes from dozens of breweries and wineries. We felt close to everything, but worlds away. Mark was really responsive. Don’t miss out on a great stay at a great price!
It was perfect for our family gathering in a rural setting. The home was clean and well appointed but was comfortable and but not pretentious. The VRBO information on the listing was spot on. Owner was efficient and polite. Will definitely book this home for a return visit. One note, this is a very rural setting, so be sure to screenshot all applicable information before you leave your metro area. This is actually clearly mentioned in the info from the owner... Sadly, I didn't heed his caution. (Once inside the home, wifi was great).
Close to multiple wineries. Quarter mile from Maybelle’s Market (upscale gas station with incredible food).
Host/owner was not a good communicator. When I messaged them I got an automated response. When a question was asked the response did not address the query. It was frustrating to say the least.

Dear future guests! While this guest did enjoy the stay and the property, they still gave only 3 stars due to being frustrated by receiving automated messages from me and not receiving a live response from me right away. I am very good about answering messages quickly, but this guest would get upset if it took me over an hour to reply to non-emergency questions. This seems unreasonable and harsh to me. My rating without this devastating 3-star rating was a perfect 5 stars. I hope you please don't let this 3-star review discourage you from booking.
Traveling for college tours and with two teens, we enjoy the home feel over hotels. The process for this home was easy. The owners has great response time and pleasant demeanor. The house is beautiful on the inside. We didn't get to spend any time outside because it rained, but the views are beautiful. I'm a beach guy but seeing the clouds pass the rolling Hills and seeing the sun peek over the ranges was pretty spectacular. There was a store/restaurant/gas station across the street, but it closes early and their fryer/oven was inop so they only had sandwiches. We drove about 15 to 20 minutes to stanardsville for dinner each night. Overall the cleanliness was good, there was trash in the garage can and the shared bathroom was a little dirty at no fault to the owner. I'm sure the cleaning team just missed those things. I would definitely stay again and recommend the home. If you're going to stay longer I suggest bring cards, board games or a good book for entertainment while inside.
The house is described as "riverfront". While this is technically true, the reality is at this location, Roach River is really no more than a creek about 10-12 feet wide bordering the back of the property. It was most unfortunate it had been so dry before our stay because it was nearly dry with only a couple of 2-feet deep pockets of water. We were a little saddened because we'd envisioned a little wading or swimming during our stay. However, there were lots of minnows darting around the pools that we got to watch, which was quite nice. The back yard is large and was a favorite of our pup for running around and exploring new smells. She even met the cattle grazing in the pasture next to the property. The view in front of the house of the mountains was very, very nice. The house is decorated nicely and large enough for far more than the two of us and our dog. Our bed was very comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean and fresh. The en suite shower had lots of pressure and the water was nice and hot.
