Close to city attractions.

Ideal location for sightseeing. Easy to get around. You can be at river walk and the Alamo in 5 minutes. The area is run down and needs redevelopment.

We are glad you found the property's proximity to downtown convenient for your sightseeing and adventures. It is a great location! Gated yard is just two fenced in sides of the house. It was ok for the dogs restroom but not enough to play.Fire pit was torn apart and against the wall so could not use.I will say that the host was very nice and worked with us to return a poster we had left behind.Very close to Alamo dome, Alamo, river walk.Inside of the home is gorgeous, but because it's very old, the main bed room door does not close on its own.

Suited our needs perfectly

This older home has been updated but retained its old-world charm. The neighborhood was a bit sketchy but we weren't out at night. There is a very busy street right beside the house All in all it was pleasant get away for two grandmothers raising their grandchildren.

Historic Library home

The home itself was in good condition. I dont think it was cleaned before we arrived. The wall ac with the twin beds was not working. Blew warm air. I slept on the couch. Check in was fine and kitcen well equipped except hot pads would have been nice in the kitchen. Location, although it was older neighborhood, i felt safe but did not roam at night. Close to main attractions.

Thank you for writing your review Rebecca. We work hard to assure guests satisfaction and enjoyment and to earn 5-star reviews. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay overall. We are disappointed to learn housekeeping did not leave enough toilet paper for your group over the duration of your stay and will most definitely talk with them about this and take corrective action. We will also have maintenance look into the AC units. There are three mini-splits in the home so we will investigate which one you thought wasn't cooling properly. Thank you again for your review Rebecca and your giving us the feedback with the opportunity on how we can improve guest experience. Safe and fun travels!! wpr, Joanna

Great location

Place was in a great central location to access major events or places in San Antonio however it was in a sketchy neighborhood but overall clean and decent! Couldn’t get porch light to turn so it was dark ! Front and side yard needed major yard attention! Also it was a bit hot inside Living room a/c dripped water from unit and took a while to cool house down Lastly anything food related that was outside of fridge was invested by sugar ants immediately!!

Thank you for making the time to write your review Roxanna. We appreciate it and welcome the feedback. We work hard to assure guests satisfaction and enjoyment and to earn 5-star reviews. We do have ongoing pest control and are sad to hear you experienced sugar ants. They are very attracted to food left on the counters in South Texas. Even with our diligent pest control, we do have guests that report them every now and then. We will continue to address this. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the prime location and the home itself. Please take care and safe travels!!

Cute House with lots of Space

We enjoyed our stay. The house was very roomy and the kitchen well equipped. The house has mini split units for AC, and the living room one was leaking a little bit, but worked quite well in the most extreme heat. The shower drain was clogged and water stood in the tub while showering which didn't feel super clean and I guess Texas has a problem with those tiny sugar ants because we had to keep everything in the fridge. They got into anything that wasn't in the fridge, including the trash can and dog food which was annoying to say the least.Overall though, we would totally stay here again. If your back cannot handle a soft mattress though, this is not the place for you.

Unsatisfied

When I got to the location it looked abandoned. The grass/shrubs was as tall as me. The inside had cobwebs. Dirt on all surfaces and the laundry machine had a weird smell. My GF and I had to clean the entire house.

This is an interesting review Jean, considering you continued extending your stay for almost a month and wanted to sign a one year lease. We have the same housekeeper for six years and she always earns top stars for cleanliness. Guest satisfaction is our top priority. We also have a regular yard service that comes every two weeks and he was there during your stay. I am sad and disappointed you felt you wanted to leave such a review. I did everything possible to accommodate your continued reservation extension requests. I know another guest made a reservation in the middle of July and you were upset I hadn’t blocked the place for you, however I had explained to you that you were at risk if you didn’t pay for your stay. Reservations are only confirmed once payment is made and I do not block dates for guests without payment. I wish you and yours the best. -Joanna

Don’t Fall For It

Upon arrival the property was over-grown/unkept. 2 of the 3 AC’s did not work. No BBQ pit, fire ring, or community pool as stated. Backyard is now a parking lot. Not the property owners fault on this one but we listened to a pachanga and fireworks until 4:30in the morning on the 5th of July. Absolutely no response from the manager even after contacting VRBO for assistance.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review Thomas. I am wondering if you stayed at the right property? A/C mini-splits are working and are regularly serviced. There is a BBQ grill on the porch, there is a fire pit along the fence in the parking area, there is a community pool in the nearby park that has been there for years, there never was a backyard. There are two fenced, gated side yards, and of course the front yard. Yard service maintains yards once per month. Sorry to hear you did not see these things. Manager did respond to your message and was rebuffed. Safe travels to you and yours!

Thanksgiving Trip 2023

The property on the inside was amazing. We were scared at the sight of the neighborhood, at first, but then, we noticed that most of the city looked this way. Its run down and lots of homeless people. But, we had zero problems, we loved the place, and the host asked us right away if we needed anything. Everything worked, there was lots of room, and we LOVED the historic feel of the building, and photos of "old San Antonio". The only suggestion i would make and its not a negative, i would have loved to hear more abouf the history of the place as it used to be a library. For example, maybe hang some pics of what it looked like as a library, or a timeline of past to present. Overall, i would def recommend staying here!

Close to Downtown

Overall, the stay was good. The neighborhood was ok, but was definitely glad it had designated parking off the street. It was less than 10 min to downtown San Antonio and the Riverwalk. The house was clean but older. It does have a slightly musty smell (think leaving clothes in washer too long). We basically only slept there, did not use the kitchen or tv’s. Beds were comfy and it was nice we each had our own bed. It’s hard to find affordable 3 beds. I would recommend to management mattress and pillow protectors. We did have an issue with the AC; it was left on 62 when we arrived and the units froze up, so it was pretty uncomfortable at times. Again, overall we had a good stay.

Super cute house, but leaking mini split in the living room, mini split didn’t work (blowing hot) in the 2nd room, and grass was to my knees. Owner did not answer calls or messages (until the next day), so contacted VRBO upon arrival. Did not stay due to the health hazard of what appeared to be mold from the leaking in the wall. The back yard is shared with the house behind you, and I had to ask people to move their car just so I could park… other than that, you had to park in the street in the front of the house. Def didn’t want to do that! The neighborhood doesn’t seem to be somewhere I would purposefully stay had I been familiar with the location. The house was super clean and tidy on the inside other than the stuff mentioned.

Go ANYWHERE else!

Iwill start saying this home has an ant infestation. We first found them crawling on a charging cord in the bedroom and realized they were coming from the wooden floorboards. They were TINY. When we looked closer, there were some crawling on the bed, throughout the rug and in other parts of the bedroom. We found tiny ants and a bit larger ants in the bathtub and crawling up the shower wall in the bathroom. We found an insane amount of Pharaoh ants in the kitchen, crawling the walls down to the garbage can and all over the microwave. Pharaoh ants can bite and they also transmit disease. Having then in a kitchen is one way to make people very ill. We didn't even used the microwave before discovering them because it had food stuck on the ceiling/walls inside. I refused to cook or use any of their dishes because nothing was clean. We were greeted with a bleach stained hand towel in the bathroom that looked like it had blood stains on it. The rugs in the bedrooms had gross stains on them like things had been spilled and never cleaned up. We questioned whether the bedding had been washed after the last guests had been there. Upon entering the house, it has an overall nice look to it, like the pictures, however, you notice the smell of it right away. It's like a musty odor, but different than that. Just unpleasant. Perhaps from the ants, which can give off an odor? Could be anything given the lack of cleanliness. I wish I could add more pi
The gaping hole in the bathroom hidden by the shower curtain that's big enough for snakes & rodents to come in through. I didn't see this until our last day because, well.... it was hidden by the shower curtain part that you didn't move. Until I did.
You don't see bars on the windows in the listing, but you do when you pull up and see every house in the neighborhood has them and notice the fenced in $1500 used car lot directly across the street from you. Not a good neighborhood.
The front porch which had garbage in the flower pot and old flyers laying around like they hadn't been picked up in forever. The table/furniture on the front and back porch hadn't been cleaned in what looks like months...or much longer. Gross.
