About this property
Hot tub, walk-in tub, wheelchair accessible, pet loving, indoor & outdoor games
All services are back up since the recent storm, and almost all businesses have re-opened. It promises to be a beautiful fall season. There was no damage whatsoever to this house.
Indoor and outdoor fun central to downtown Maggie Valley. This cozy cottage was remodeled with an eye toward family fun. Outdoors, there's a regulation horseshoe court, cornhole, a creek, a firepit and a picnic area. On the back deck, there's a 6-person hot tub with 90 powerful jets, a gas grill and a covered area with table and chairs. The house is all on one level and it is truly wheelchair accessible with wide doorways (33-inches or more), a no-step entrance, a nearly level ramp from a nearly level driveway, a gentle ramp to the back deck, a 12-jet Whirlpool walk-in tub, a front loading washing machine, grab bars, a raised removable toilet chair, a 50-inch Fire TV, clothes hangers low enough to reach from a wheelchair, and even large print playing cards. There are also board games, king beds, a stone hearth with a wood-burning stove and an open great room. The house is easy to reach by car on gentle roads only about 300 yards from Maggie Valley's main road.
The house is located 5 minutes to the festival grounds. 5 minutes to the golf and country club. Under 7 minutes to any restaurant, bar or entertainment venue in Maggie. 7 minutes to the Cataloochee ski resort access road.
The hot tub is powerful with 2 motors and jets for upper and lower back, calves, feet, and neck. Lounge in it and gaze up at the sky and winter view of mountains.
The beautifully decorated great room includes a fully-stocked kitchen, dining and living room, so everyone can relax, watch TV, play games, prepare food and eat together in an open, intelligently laid-out space. This design is conducive to family interaction across the kitchen, dining area and living room. It has two recliners, one of which is motorized and can fully recline for sleeping or lift you up to help you stand. The sleeping recliner is heated as well.
The stone fireplace and hearth has a wood-burning stove to complete your mountain experience. Of course, there is no need to build a fire just for warmth; the house is climate controlled with room specific air conditioning and heating separately controlled in the great room, master bedroom and front bedroom.
The master bedroom features a king bed, walk-in closet, and private bath and shower. The front bedroom has a king bed and armoire, and it is directly across the hall from the front bathroom that contains the walk-in tub.
We maintain a kid-friendly environment with a Pack-N-Play (please reserve that), kid plates and plastic-ware, a fold out couch, and lots of games.
The entire house rents as a unit including a large front, back and side yard complete with creek, cornhole, horseshoe court, fire pit, picnic table and dog run.
The regulation horseshoe court is high quality. It's built with railroad ties, sand pits and large backstops. Use it to play horseshoes, or bring out the corn hole boards provided. Horseshoes and corn hole bean bags are provided as well.
Build a fire in the fire pit or sit under the trees at a picnic table while listening to a gurgling creek the kids can play in.
Very pet friendly... Let your dog directly out the front door and into a dog run that wraps around the side of the house to the back, or walk your dog in a quiet neighborhood.

About the host
Hosted by Jim Frith

Hi, I'm Jim Frith. I grew up in a large family... 8 kids. From the time I was 4 years old, my six older sisters left one-by-one left for college and to start families of their own. I always cherished their visits and family gathering times. My parents always loved the mountains, and they took us to gather with extended family in mountain cottages each summer, so family gatherings in the mountains took on special significance for me. It gives me great pleasure to make it possible for other families to experience similar joys.
Why they chose this property
This is a mountain house, which means crisp, clean air, beautiful surroundings, and access to national parks and wildlife, among other things. I know so many people who have visited Maggie Valley and fallen in love with the place.
However, for many families accessibility is a major concern. There are few houses that offer the true mountain experience while also providing true accessibility. This house does both. It incorporates mountain fun such as corn hole and horseshoe games with easy no-step access to a single story, wheelchair friendly house with luxury features such as zoned climate control, both a walk-in Whirlpool tub and a powerful 6-person hot tub, and comfortable king-sized beds.
Plus, the house is centrally located with quick access to all of central Maggie Valley!

What makes this property unique
How many houses have a regulation horseshoe court? I grew up watching mountain locals play this game... It is loved by mountaineers! And corn hole? That is a North Carolina pasttime.
"This hot tub is the best one I have ever been in!" I've heard that from several friends who have tried it, and it is certainly true of me. The jets are strong, the lounge is comfortable, and the streams hit just the right places. Give it a try. You'll love it!
True accessibility for people who have disabilities is a rare find. Filling this void among vacation rentals was a major priority.
