About this property
Simply perfect home for Maine adventure; equally close to the harbor & the lake
Ironwood Glade Cottage is a cape, nestled in a 100-year old naturally-established glade of Ironwood oak trees just 2 miles from downtown Camden and 1 mile from Megunticook Lake. It feels like a far-away woodland setting and has the luxury of space, lawn, and firepit, with the convenience of being close to the village.
Owned by an interior designer, Ironwood Glade consists of two units: The Cottage House and the Tree House. This listing is for the Cottage, which is prominently located and surrounded by established gardens and a huge yard. The smaller hidden Tree House unit has separate amenities and will periodically be occupied by the hosts during the summer of 2023. It is completely hidden from guest view as one arrives at The Cottage.
The Cottage is freshly painted. Each bedroom is well appointed and comfortable with important details that make a house a home.
The jumbo-king guestroom looks out over the back garden and is fitted with a vintage bed frame holding a luxurious new custom mattress. Caned white oak nightstands and custom ginger-gar lamps bracket the bed. This bedroom has a full closet - freshly painted white - with built-in shelving and rods.
The front (queen) guestroom looks out over the front garden. It is fitted with a headboard made from vintage window shutters and woven reading lights, providing a backdrop for a new mattress and custom bed skirt. The cozy upholstered chair is ready for coffee and a book. This bedroom also has a closet - freshly painted white - with built-in shelving and rods.
The front (queen) guestroom has an adjoining Den (a separate room accessed by functional doors). This is the third bedroom, if needed. The Den overlooks the front porch and garden and is furnished with a vintage Thonet rocker and a new sofa that folds into a the most comfortable (full sized) bed in the house. The Den also has a full closet - freshly painted white - with built-in shelving and rods.
Ironwood Glade Cottage has a large fully-fitted Kitchen (I am a chef!), a brand new stove, good ventilation, and many cabinets and drawers containing appealing dishes, glassware, as well as cooking tools including Quisinart and Instapot. A 52" wide Sub-Zero fridge-freezer makes fresh food storage easy. A bamboo-framed breakfast table overlooks the back garden.
The Kitchen adjoins and looks into the Living Room, which makes low-key Maine-living natural. Everyone gravitates to the kitchen; what is better than these two spaces connecting in an effortless way?
The Living Room has swivel chairs, a long sofa, a conversation nook with two additional newly upholstered chairs, and sliding door which allows access to the huge deck and back garden with bubbling brook.
The Dining Room adjoins the kitchen on the opposing side and overlooks the front porch and front garden. It sits 6 comfortably and 8 good friends.
At the far side of the Cottage there is space for business with a large desk, lateral file drawers, and an HP printer/scanner. The desk area blends into the mudroom and generous laundry room with storage closet. The laundry room has a pair of current model machines; the dryer is gas and highly efficient.
Artworks featured in The Cottage are fresh, fun, and thoughtfully selected paintings and photographs from local artists.
Outside Ironwood Glade Cottage a wide lawn and manicured perennial gardens are tidy and maintained with a bubbling brook winding through the back garden. A spacious deck, BBQ grill, and fire pit allow for your days to dial down with outdoor meals and s'mores under the stars. Additional amenities included are contactless check-in, a rigorous cleaning protocol between guests, high speed WiFi, Roku TV, rubbish collection, weekly lawn maintenance, bi-weekly gardener, and pet-safe electric fence. Pre-approved dogs are welcome with a deposit. Essential Maine-lifestyle amenities included are: picturesque fire-pit well stocked with wood and with seating next to a babbling brook, gas grill with starter bottle of propane, table and chairs for outdoor dining, maintained herb garden, beautiful window boxes, and options for croquet, badminton, and Jumbo-Jenga.
