trip to erie
Property is lovely, refurbished farm house. You advertised as bein g close to Erie, but we had to travel 45 miinutes back and forth to Waldemeer each day, and then into NorthEast for food. Loved the vineyards and the lake view. No extra charge for the large woodchuck that lives under your front porch.
The property was perfect for our stay and in a great location for all the wineries.

Not bad overall
The house is old and does show it's age. It worked well for what we needed. The beds were comfortable. The grounds were beautiful. We loved sitting on the little bench overlooking the cliff. We loved not having neigbors or excessive house rules. The house was roomy. The house interior had a lot of spiders and it must have been cleaned at some point and then sat for a while. The stairs are narrow and all of the bedrooms are upstairs so be mindful if you have any elderly or young group members. No major issues though.
Wewanted a nice weekend get away and the privacy of this property delivered just that. Pair that with the great attractions and food in erie pa and it made a perfect vacation .
Very comfortable spot. Perfect for a nice relaxing stay! The house was very clean, and we had everything we needed, We especially loved the coffee bar provided. We plan to come again!
A charming place to stay. We were at a drift event at Lake Erie Speedway (15min drive) so it was very convenient & quiet after a noisy day at the track. My granddaughter enjoyed seeing all the wildlife including a bald eagle.
We really enjoyed our stay @ the Lakehouse. Very comfortable stay for 4 couples. We visited during the winter for one of the Lake Erie Wine Events the location was perfect! Everything in the house was wonderful, comfy beds, nice stocked coffee bar. Nice big table for eating & game playing. Bathrooms were nice/clean and had toiletry amenities! Will definitely visit again’
Our host, Joshua, was quick to respond to our questions. The property itself has unbelievable views out of every window- even saw a white spotted young fawn! Truly is a beautiful old house. You can see the care and consideration Josh and his wife put into renovating the home. The ladies all found their bedrooms to be very comfortable. We truly enjoyed ourselves and had plenty of room to relax in the spacious kitchen, dining room and the family room.
Although the house was fine, unfortunately the smell of the water was very noxious, smelling like sewage. It made it very unpleasant when washing dishes or taking a shower. The view was beautiful, and the house was as advertised. It is difficult to back out of the driveway due to bushes blocking the view of the road and it could use better lighting outside at night.
The house was perfect for us. Enough bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, nice kitchen and dining area. Dining area great for playing games. Close to some awesome wineries, close to friends in the area, short drive to Erie. Lake views, gorgeous sunset one nlght, typical snow storm one night. We had a wonderful time sightseeing, even in the middle of winter! My only suggesting is to get the names and numbers of the 2 owners before you get there. VRBO is frustrating to work with.
The house was very nice. Had a lovely view of the lake, and was close to anything you could need/want to do. The host was very responsive and accommodating. 10 out of 10!
The house is every bit as beautiful as the pictures, very comfortable in every way and has a nice welcoming vibe. Communication with the host was excellent. We would definitely come again!
We (5 older adults) enjoyed our stay in Ripley, very much. We loved the property and how close it was to all that we wanted to do. Every winery that we visited on this trip (12 of them) we friendly, clean, and had a nice selection of goodies to sample and/or purchase. We’re coming back!!!
We enjoyed our stay here. There is a bench at the end of the property on the lake that was beautiful, especially to see the bald eagles, both adult and juvenile fly by. We spent a lot of time on the porch and upper deck. The beds were very comfortable and it was nice to have a bathroom/shower on the main floor in addition the the one upstairs. Communication with the property manager was quite friendly and helpful. Things we noted: there is a paper wasp nest about 5 feet off the ground in a bush near the bottom porch, so if traveling with kids, have them be careful as it's an active nest. Also, prompt attention is needed on the upper deck. Weeds are growing out of boards and will sooner than later lead to wood rot and collapse. We didn't sit on that side. As others have mentioned there were spiders everywhere in the house, but that didnt really bother us. We all have spiders, though that could easily be remedied. What was most disappointing was that the windows and sliding glass door surfaces were really dirty inside and out. It could be a really great view if they were cleaned properly more often. We like a more rural setting as this home is right off of the main road, but traffic noise was not really an issue at all. All in all a good place to rent if visiting in the area.
Short family getaway to watch our daughter play tennis at a nearby college. Would vome again forca winery tour. We were able to visit 4, but there are so many more in the area. If you like sweet wine and wine tastings, this a a great place to be. Property is gorgeous! Lots of big spiders, but only on the outside. Host wad super accomodating.

The land is beautiful on the lake with plenty of lawn to play on. The house is very comfortable with nice furniture although the Sulfur water was not acceptable. Inside the house was decently clean except for dead bugs in the kitchen lights/windowsills and the bathroom vents need cleaning. There were no screens to allow fresh air to come in and the windows had many cobwebs detracting from the view. The property needs some TLC and further improvements such as the sidewalk and entranceway. The owner did refund the cleaning fee, but we would not recommend staying here any time soon until the sulfur water situation and overall property has been tended to.
Last day of school for the kids and off we went for a fun get-away. Had a fire by the lake and took many pics of the beautiful moon over the home and sun sets on the lake.. Frogs in the pond was quite entertaining and saw Eagles soaring overhead most everyday! Fun-Fun-Fun
Thank you :)
Planned on visiting my hometown of Erie and found that the nearby town Westfield was very nice, my main concern was that flies and ladybugs were somehow all over the top floor, I tried shutting windows and everything but they still ended up all over the place

About the host
Hosted by Joshua Boscaljon
This is the second property my wife, son and I purchased. We purchased this property in 2021 and completely gutted and remodelled the entire house. We love to provide incredible properties and try to exceed guest expectations. The properties are very private so we give our guests privacy, but can be reached if a need arises. We enjoy helping our guests celebrate their special occasions or special times with family and friends.
Why they chose this property
This property has a quiet stream to the east, small vineyard to the west and Lake Erie to the North. How amazing is that? 4 acres with no neighbors! It is an old farmhouse originally built in 1905, but completely remodeled in 2022. Bald eagles love to soar by this property regularly.
What makes this property unique
Property is close to many local attractions, wineries, best steelhead fishing in the World, beaches, Waldameer, waterparks, Presque Isle, finley lake, Chataqua Institute, Amish trails, farmers markets, restaurants, antiques, small town shopping, horse back riding, and more.
