A perfect base for year-round adventure

In winter, spend your days skiing or riding at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, less than 30 minutes away, or head out snowmobiling — the renowned Quartz Creek riding area is around 30 minutes away, with plenty more options throughout the surrounding mountains.

You can also step straight outside the lodge to explore our own snowy woodland trails. Then come home, sink into the hot tub beneath a star-filled sky, warm up by the fire and settle in for a cozy evening together. You don’t need to ski or sled every day to experience winter here — sometimes the best days are simply spent enjoying the snow, the silence and having your own little piece of the mountains to yourselves.

In summer, the surrounding mountains become a playground for hiking, biking, rafting, paddling and exploring the six nearby national parks — or simply slow down, enjoy the wildlife and soak up the peace of the Blaeberry Valley.

Whether you come for the adventures or simply to escape somewhere beautiful with the people you love, The Lazy Elk is more than somewhere to sleep at the end of the day — it’s part of the experience.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire lodge including an attached private garage for one car and another outdoor covered space under a pole-barn for 2 more vehicles. The driveway also has plenty of space for additional cars. The lodge is nestled in the Blaeberry valley, 15 minutes from town, so travel by car is essential.

About the host

Hosted by Andrew & Charlotte Coleman

Host profile image
Hi I'm Charlotte but please do call me Charlie!

My husband Andy and I have moved from the UK to the beautiful town of Golden in BC Canada to surround ourselves with nature and to live a life full of adventure.

We have been lucky enough to travel to so many exciting corners of the world and airbnb was always our first choice. Our airbnb hosts and the places we have stayed have provided us with lasting memories.

Now we have the opportunity to host and we couldn't be more excited. We host the Lodge @ The Lazy Elk a spacious log frame home from home cabin in the Canadian Rockies.

We do live on the property in a small eco home we built with our very own hands in Summer 2020 based on Passive Haus principles. We would love the chance to show off our build and talk through the Passive Haus credentials if you are interested (I'm sure we could fit a beer in there too!).

Why they chose this property

The lodge @ the Lazy Elk offers luxury, relaxation, comfort, privacy, space & world-class mountain views that you can enjoy from your own hot tub. Located in the middle of 6 national parks in BC, Canada - it's the ideal hub for all kinds of activities, or the perfect place to just come and relax.

What makes this property unique

We are one of the few larger properties in the area with its own private acreage, with unobstructed Rocky mountain views from the hot tub and living space. A real sense of privacy and of course luxury.
