Pet Friendly Rustic Cabin on the Animas River - 6 Min. to Downtown Durango

Our 3 bed / 2.5 bath cabin (Gabriel's cabin) sits directly on the Animas River on over 3 acres and is only 4 miles (6 minutes) to historic Downtown Durango. Enjoy a private river front setting with room to room to roam (and fish), while being close to all of the incredible amenities and recreational experiences that Durango has to offer. The ample outdoor space/decks with seating and a gas fire pit will allow you to enjoy the amazing setting on the Animas River.

The cabin features the expected vacation rental amenities including a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer (laundry detergent provided) and there is plenty of parking for multiple vehicles and trailers. High speed Starlink WIFI was installed in March 2024 with speeds over 100mbs. While the kitchen is fully stocked - it does not have a dishwasher.

This home is pet friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs max and the pet fee is $40/day (for a max $250 per stay).

Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

We love the location down by the river. It made you feel like you were far away from town when you really were very close. There were a couple issues, but the management promptly came out and fixed it when we reported it. We would gladly stay here again.

Extremely well maintained cabin and clean which is the most important to me. Property managers were quick to respond to any questions. Stairs were steep, but the house was perfect.

Gathering

The location on the river was really, really great. The proximity to town and river trail great. The bathrooms were clean and the sheets were brand new but had not been washed. We did see a couple of mice and lots of mouse droppings. Around the house could have used a blower and a little clean up as I picked up cigarette butts. But overall, it worked great for us. Spent a lot of time on porch visiting friends and family. We were in town for a memorial gathering. Thanks

Great location

The location at the edge of town and on the river is unbeatable. The back porch and outdoor firepit are wonderful spots. We found the lack of some kitchen supplies a little surprising, but not major. Also wish the ventilation and windows worked little better in the heat.

Everything was great for our stay. Well located for our needs, quiet, river next to the property. Only problem was in the listing not stating that there are no bedrooms on the main floor, lots of steep stairs up and down to bedrooms, second thoughts for elderly folks, such as my mother in law, who went with us. We were able to make a bed with the couch and a mattress, we worked it out.

Our happy place

Rustic but really comfortable and fun. It was clean with good amenities. Our grandkids loved the bunk beds and our kids loved the fly fishing. We all loved the gas fire pit and being right on the river. I appreciated the short drive to Walmart to provision, too. Town is a quick 10 minutes away. Guest should be prepared for the very steep stairs between levels-especially the stairs into the basement. Would be good if there were some kind of gate installed at the top before someone has a serious fall. Also there are no outside accessible bear-proof trash cans. It was a great place for a weekend family getaway.

The cabin needs general maintenance. The ceiling fan does not work. Couldn’t get Tv downstairs figured out and no place to watch it. The dehumidifier were offline, not sure exactly what they were. Two families fit nicely in the space, and the fact that it's pet friendly made it even better so the puppies could come along. The outdoor space was fantastic for getting outside, especially with the dogs. We enjoyed the fire pit and walking along the river. The location is close to everything, yet tucked away so you feel like you are miles from civilization. Kitchen was decently stocked so we could prepare meals easily, but be sure to bring your water bottles because there was only one glass to be found in the cupboard.Very nice place!

Truly splendid

We arrived to a clean welcoming rustic home. Exactly what I had hope for and so much more. Came to Durango for a wedding but wanted to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and this did not disappoint. My son and three children loved having the entire downstairs as a separate space. The kitchen was so wonderful everything we wanted and more. Having a Walmart just down the street made getting anything we needed a breeze. Downtown was a short drive and Uber was available for a cheap quick ride. The magnificent outside was nature at its best. Abundant wildlife. Amazing fishing at your doorstep. Before touring the home and brining in our luggage we went straight to the hammocks by the river. Caretakers responded to all request immediately. The best time was wonderful!!!!!

Instructed to run dishwasher. No dishwasher. Chipped dishes. You did catch a mouse which we disposed of. Inadequate cooling unit spitting water when we arrived. Property definitely not up to code. Best thing was location on the river and near town.

We are sorry to hear that the Departure Instructions were confusing to you, since the home does not have a dishwasher. Those are general instructions for all of our properties, and mention that if any of the specific instructions are not applicable (i.e., no dishwasher), to please ignore that specific instruction. We advise all of our guests in our information sheets and in an email, which is sent the day after check in, to contact us if there are any housekeeping or maintenance issues; or if there is anything we can do to make their stay more enjoyable. Next time you stay with us, please contact us if you encounter any issues we are happy to help! We would have gladly brought you new dishes or had maintenance look at the cooling unit during your stay, if we would have known there was an issue. We assessed the dishes immediately after your departure, and found them to be adequate, but have replaced them, as well as made sure the cooling unit was working properly. We take great pride in ensuring that the quality of our properties meet a high standard.
