We loved our stay at this cabin, it was very spacious and the beach is fantastic for kids. On arrival, the cabin was not as clean as expected, but we would definitely stay here again.

I'm glad to hear you had a good time, we hope to see you again!
This was a nice cabin with a great lake front. The deck was nice which had trees for shade when you were on it during the day. We had a nice dock with a nice little beach area. The water was very clear where you could see fish swimming in it.

This property was beautiful. It had something for everyone. We enjoyed time on the lake, took the little ones on the kayaks and paddleboat, we fished, bonfire everynight and fun cooking in the kitchen. We stayed here for 5 days and only wish it was longer.
Thank you for the great memories!

Thank you for the kind words Ann, come back soon and bring your dogs again!
The Bass Lake cabin was very nice overall. Nice big kitchen and great back deck for hanging out. There were a few things that were not functioning well or not at all. The door to the cleaning closet was completely off the hinges. The back sliding screen doors kept popping off the track. And the master bathroom window would not close after it was opened. The property management staff were made aware of these issues and were responsive.

Great Potential
Overall, this cabin is great for a family vacation. We had an infant and toddler on our trip and the property was great for entertaining them. The beach area was great, and the lake was quiet and not busy.
Where this property lacked was in cleanliness. Upon arrival, the counter ice maker contained mold, there was old food under the living room table, and a bandaid in one of the beds. Lots of bugs and cobwebs on the windows.
Would be the perfect property if better maintained and cleaned.

Happy to hear we enjoyed our stay, I will make sure to pass this information along to improve future guest stays:)
it was a great place for our family and had all the amenities, including the safety gate that kept my grandaughter from tumbling down the stairs.. Plenty of space and beautiful view.
Fabulous lakeside house for a 3 generation gathering. Quiet lake that is great for kayaking and SUP. Even the teenagers enjoyed the lake and the fire pit.
The family enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that visited the feeder.
Thanks for an enjoyable week.
The house was very roomy and has modern appliances. My kids and grandkids all had their own rooms, and open areas for group games and meals. The lake was full of panfish (kids really had fun catching them) and was ideal for the 95 degree weather. The hosts provided a lot of water toys for all ages, which was nice. Plenty of pine trees provided shade for us and the deer. The location is just off a paved road and is just a few minutes to town for supplies. All in all, we had a very nice
time!
Our stay was fantastic! The amenities were as listed. The lake was very serene. Great cabin for friends and family, close to amenities and we’ll appointed for all of our needs.
We had to come up to Minnesota for a funeral from Florida. There was so much to do on this property. There are games and lots of fun to be had outside.
Our crew was in Brainerd for a long weekend to work a race at the track. We wound up discovering this jewel after our hotel rooms were canceled at the last minute. How lucky we were to enjoy these beautiful lake views and comforting home amenities!
The setting is wonderful, with loons on the water and kayaks at the ready. We cooked at the house every night and enjoyed the company of our friends without the need for any TV or other bothersome electronics.
The kitchen is well stocked with many spices, condiments, cookware, and utensils so all you need to bring is your food and drink. The bedrooms and bathrooms are well arranged with fresh sheets, towels, and more.
Really ... we had such a fantastic time that whenever we're back at BIR, we'll book Valhalla Up North!
To everyone considering thus property - you can't go wrong. The house is wonderful and fully stocked with everything you will need. It has a perfect view of the lake which everyone enjoyed. The lake is quiet and calm, perfect for using the SUP and kayaks. The loons are mesmerizing and the setting idyllic! Margit was a wonderful host, always communicating with us very quickly. It's a perfect getaway from the world!!
Valhalla was a lovely escape after being stuck at home....
Valhalla and the Johnson family were fantastic hosts. The location and setting on Bass Lake was very cute. Good for swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. House is good for group to have space and the gradual grade to lake is pleasant. House faces east so lots of morning sunlight and even into afternoon a bit. The pontoon was great to have during the week as well.
Note: There was a wild rain storm during our stay which cut our visit shorter due to some water issues however the Johnson family went over and above to correct the issue and make it right. It says a lot about how much they care about Valhalla and their guests. I would recommend Valhalla as a relaxing summer escape from daily life. I did not look at my laptop for 5 days :) Carrie and Doug
The property was as described, and was bigger than I expected. The beds were very comfortable. We cooked most meals in the house, and all the things I needed were there and easy to find. I was given multiple ways to contact the owners, and they were so great to work with - even shared insider tips on restaurants and groceries. I plan to stay again.
Our experience was great. The check in process was very simple, the property is absolutely stunning and the area had a lot of fun things to do! I would recommend this place to anyone.
We had rented many places in the summer time but this is our first weekend getaway experience during the fall season. It was a spectacular experience. The cabin was just the right size for us, it was cozy, peaceful and quite autumn nights which we truly enjoyed. There were 2 cabins next to each side of us and we did hope for a more secluded area but it all worked out anyways, since there wasn't anyone actually occupying those cabins or out partying loud and late next to us. There were a few items that we forgot and Margit, the property owner encourages us to feel free to use whatever was available, which saves us time to make a run to the store. The cabin also have a sorts of kitchenware, utensils, plates, pots in all sizes which made it convenient for our cooking and dining needs. Margit was very helpful and any questions we have, we were able to reach her with a respond in a timely manner. My daughter was a bit disappointed since she wanted to fish (the dock was taken out, maybe due to the season, which is understandable) it made it harder to throw out in the deeper water where fishes are usually at. But all and all, she was able to enjoy the weekend with card games and the Xbox inside the cabin. The lake was very clear and we would recommend this cabin for a cozy and peaceful getaway in the summer if you have kids who wants to have some water fun activities! Thanks to Margit for allowing us to enjoy her wonderful cabin and a autumn experience!
We absolutely loved the beautiful vacation home and could not have been more pleased with everything! A group of 6 gals are sometimes hard to please, but our stay here at Valhalla Up North exceeded all our expectations!
Thank you again Margit for the use of your home.
