About this property

The ocean meets the meadow at the forest's edge. Private beach. Soak under stars

A fully equipped, recently built (2003) beach home with two comfy bedrooms with yummy queen beds, a great room, a private deck outside the kitchen, and a cozy, romantic rooftop living room or a back yard jacuzzi with ocean views and starry, starry nights. Our beach house and decks are protected from the strong winds that buffet the bluffside. Take a walk down the nature path or the road past Pomo Lake to the private, gated beach for five miles of sandy coast, dramatic rocks, and lively tidepools to explore. Or just cross the road and enjoy the thick Mendocino forest. Our home is two fully independent duplexes. Sarah and I have the smaller one bedroom south side, but we are rarely in residence. If by chance we are there during your visit, we are especially quiet and considerate.

Sarah and I (Jess) are Napa Valley folk. We aren't wine industry people, though. Sarah is a therapist specializing in adolescents and I am a criminal defense attorney. I'm a road cyclist, a Deadhead-turned-festival goer, and I love black licorice, trappist ales, and the wind. Sarah is all about social justice, and she loves to walk, converse, savor her morning tea, and travel to exotic places with me. We have a rambunctious dog named Bala, a large, friendly, mostly black aussie doodle badly in need of a good brushing. We love our new home, but unfortunately we are rarely in residence on our side of the duplex. When we are, you can expect to hear nothing from us because we are considerate above all else.

Why they chose this property

Why do we love Irish Beach? Because it is the garden spot on the entire California Coast. People coming to the Coast generally take Highway One as far north as Bodega, or perhaps even Sea Ranch, or they cut across Hwy 128 and go north to Mendocine or Ft Bragg. The area between Gualala and Hwy 128 is so quiet that you can walk down the center of Hwy One in Irish Beach. And yet, the coastline and beaches are STUNNING!! The rock formations, the tidepools, the five miles of empty sand beach from Irish Beach to the Pt Arena Lighthouse!! And Irish Beach is the only housing community on this entire section of amazing coast! It's a remarkable secret ... for now.

What makes this property unique

Our house is very pretty and very utilitarian. We made it a value by choice. We don't have extra rooms you don't need. Two comfy bedrooms and a large gathering room with a functional kitchen. The best part is the private view terrace and the rooftop "living room" with cushy sofas, and excellent protection from the relentless coastal wind that buffets the houses on the coastal bluff. Everything is comfy and colorful - the beds, the chairs, the window boxes with dozens of pillows, the rugs, the pictures on the walls, and the rooftop furniture. And if you tire of looking west to the ocean, turn around and marvel at the towering, diverse Mendocino Forest across the street! Oh, we also have a Traeger - the best barbeque known to man. And 220v electric vehicle charging. And a gym downstairs. And a rear lawn for the pups.
