Our family had a beautiful stay at the property. Everything was incredibly comfortable and clean, and the location was idyllic. Our kids loved the toys and games that were made available.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to all.
This was one of the most whimsical places I have stayed. Ali and Matt were amazing hosts and very attentive. If you’re looking for a beautiful quiet getaway, this is the perfect place.

Thank you for your lovely words. It was a pleasure hosting you and your family. You’re welcome back any time.
The house was very clean and comfortable. We spent the days exploring lighthouses, museums and some farms. The location of the house was perfect to allow us these opportunities. Dinners were easy to get to but hard to decided which one to choice . We had a wonderful Maine experience.
This was the perfect getaway for our family. The house exceeded all expectations, it was by far the most well-stocked VRBO we've ever stayed in. Alison and Matt were incredibly responsive and genuinely committed to making sure we had a great experience. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and a truly enjoyable stay. This trip was especially meaningful to us, as it came just before my dad began chemo and radiation. We’re so grateful for the memories made during this special time together.
Beautiful house in beautiful setting with gracious, friendly and knowledgeable hosts. Easy access to everything you might be interested in doing in Midcoast Maine- ocean and mountain. The Rockford/Rockport area is much less crowded and touristy than the coast further north. Highest recommendation.
We had an amazing experience for the week we stayed here. The home is very well laid out and quiet, set back from the road. The raspberries were in season, and our kids had a lot of fun picking and devouring them. The location is just a short drive from many locations along the coast.
Play room was stocked with toys and games, and we really appreciated the responsiveness of the hosts to questions and requests. We would definitely return!

It was a pleasure having your delightful family stay with us. You’re welcome back anytime your travels bring you to Mid Coast again.
Our extended family of 7 met here for a 4 night stay. Check in process and directions were easy to follow. Property info notes were clear. Free range chickens were a fun diversion, as was bird watching at the adjacent feeders from the deck. Location is an easy drive to several grocery stores and plenty of take-out options. Great base of operations for sight seeing up and down the coast. Nights were very quiet, traffic on the road is minimal. Hosts are on-property, but gave us our privacy unless we sought them out. They were extremely friendly and provided assistance promptly if asked. We are in agreement that we would all stay here again.
This was a dreamy country home that could not have been more perfect!! From the lovely setting, surrounded by trees, flowers, chickens & a cat….we could have lived here happily ever after forever!! The owners were wonderful as we occasionally interacted with them during our too short stay & were super accommodating. There was nothing we would have changed. We really enjoyed watching the vast array of birds constantly at the feeders & could have done nothing more than simply sit & watch them all day long! Our grandbabies loved the toys & it was really sweet that there was a playroom set up for them. They also loved the swings under the deck. I can’t recommend this beautiful, quiet & well designed home enough! THANKS SO VERY MUCH for sharing your wonderful treasure with our family!

About the host
Hosted by Alison Engel
Hello! I am a midwife living and working in MidCoast Maine. My husband and I settled here so that we could slow down as a family, let our kids grow up in a place where they are familiar with dirt and bugs, and build a more sustainable life. We couldn't be luckier to have landed on this little slice of paradise and can't wait to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
Rockport is an incredible location, both for the immediate surroundings, as well as for its accessibility to so many amazing places both north and south. Drive to Bar Harbor in just under 2 hours, Portland 1 hr 30 min, Freeport shopping and outlets 1hr 15min, Belfast is 35 minutes, Damariscotta is 30 minutes, Bristol/Pemaquid Beach are 45 minutes, Port Clyde is 25 minutes, and Vinalhaven and Mongehan are just a ferry ride away. Although many people enjoy vacationing here, it is never as crowded as Acadia or the southern coast- it is truly peaceful here.
What makes this property unique
This is a primary residence during the fall and winter months, so is fully equipped with all the comforts of home. If you care about your environmental footprint, you're looking for room for the whole family or a few couples, and want an idyllic location close to the many adventures that await you in the MidCoast, this is your spot. Slow down, go back in time, and experience Maine summer- The Way Life Should Be!
