About this property
Great Escape-Spacious Peninsula Lot, Amazing Outdoor Spaces, Gentle Slope!
Welcome to The Great Escape, one of the best rental homes on Lake Gaston! This lake house has over 500 feet of shoreline on a unique 1.5 acre peninsula lot with spectacular lake views from three sides of the home! One side has a protected cove for your family to swim with minimal boat traffic at your dock with 10 feet deep water (enough to jump from sundeck). Outside your quiet cove, you have 1.5 miles of an awesome cove to ski, wakeboard and fish. You'll have a guest slip with mooring whips for your boat, plus a jet ski lift. You also have a number of amazing outdoor spaces to gather including a screened in porch, patio with table with fire insert, firepit and sundeck at the dock.
Water toys galore!!! We provide 4 stand up paddleboards, 2 person pedal boat, 2 single person kayaks, a 2 person canoe and 2 floating lounge chairs, all complimentary!
This lake house has it all: spectacular views from 3 sides of the home, deep water at dock, gentle slope only 30 yards from the back deck of the home and a quiet dock area to swim.
The home is a beautiful, brick, two story contemporary with two first floor king master suites, plus a guest bedroom with a Queen bed and first floor laundry. Internet WI-FI via fiber (50 MB/Sec), Amazon Firestick with Youtube TV and Netflix, great cell service for Verizon and land phone line is included. Our neighborhood is one of only a few with Fiber internet on Lake Gaston.
Bedroom configurations are:
Primary King Suite #1 - First floor luxurious master suite with king bed, balcony to deck, lake views on 2 sides and full private bath with soaking tub, and walk-in closet.
King Suite #2 - First floor bedroom has king bed, full bath, lake view and office desk with laser printer.
King Suite #3 - Upstairs bedroom has a king bed with lake view and direct access to a full bath.

Second floor loft - Upper level has loft with 3 twin beds. The Loft also has a competitive Tornado foosball table (over looking kitchen/great room). Foosball is a fun inside game for a rainy day!
Rec Room - Upstairs rec room has 1 twin bed with flat screen TV with Amazon Firestick with Youtube TV and Netflix.
The Main level great room has a 10 chair dining table convenient with kitchen and large deck overlooking the lake. The kitchen has stainless steel refrigerator (with ice makers) and granite counter tops plus a commercial ice maker in the pantry. In addition, there is a 2nd full refrigerator/freezer in the hallway across from the pantry for your use.

The deck also has a Weber gas grill (connected to house gas line), Weber charcoal grill and 8 person dining table with umbrella.
The home is on a secluded 1.5 acre lot. There is a gently sloping stone walkway from house to the dock, with an open guest dock for the renter to have 2 boats, with mooring whips to keep your boat safely away from the guest dock. There is also a sundeck, and 1 jet ski lift for renter), Included are a canoe, 2 kayaks, 4 stand up paddle boards and a peddle boat for renter.. The concrete parking lot has a basketball hoop and ping pong table (balls and paddles provided).
The Great Escape is located on Great Creek in the northwest quadrant of Lake Gaston. The home is a 10 minute drive from I-85. Great winery and golf only a few miles away.
Check in time is 4:00 PM and checkout 11:00 AM EST. Pets are considered, $150 per pet, must be crate trained and have flea/tick applied 30 days prior to stay. No smoking in home or screened in porch. Max occupancy is 19. Parties over 19 people are not allowed due to septic system and parking limits. Primary renter must be over 25 years old.
Pillows, blankets and comforters are provided. Sheets and bath towels can be rented for $200.
What is the water skiing like in Great Creek? The creek is protected from the main lake by a no wake zone and box culvert. That keeps many of the main lake yahoos out of our "private" creek. With 1.5 mile run, or creek makes a perfect spot for slalom skiing and wakeboarding. It's not uncommon to see some barefooting and great slalom skiing in the mornings. The jet skis and tubes generally don't come out until 11:00 AM.
How is the fishing in Great Creek? The fishing is pretty good right from the dock at the home. Bream (Blue Gill) and catfish are easy to catch from the dock. We also have large mouth bass all around the docks in the creek. There are many bass tournaments that run out of the nearby Holly Grove Marina and many of the fishermen tell me our cove is as good as any at holding large mouth "keepers". The main lake offers a variety of good fishing spots including large grass fields as you head up into the river where striped bass are found.
How is the boat traffic in Great Creek? During the week it is generally good throughout the day. The weekends in the summer can get busy in the creek between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. When it gets too much boat traffic to ski or wakeboard, you can get into calm water in the river in about 20 minutes. Going out of Great Creek and heading north, you enter the river portion of Lake Gaston. The river offers miles of calm water, straight runs and deep water (26 feet). Since the water comes from the bottom of Kerr Lake, the water is cool which is refreshing in the heat of the summer. Deep, cool water as calm as butter is awesome for skiing and boarding.
Lake Gaston is one of the truly superior lakes in the country, located in the piedmont area of northern NC and southern VA. It covers 20,300 acres, 34 miles long, and has over 350 miles of shoreline. The lake has very little water level fluctuation year round and has the highest water-quality rating in eastern USA (NC Stream Sanitation Commission, A2 rating). Lake Gaston is well stocked with game fish including striped and largemouth bass, walleye, bream, crappie, sunfish, perch and several varieties of catfish. Lake Gaston has an average depth of 40+ feet (~80+ ft. deep near eastern end at dam).

Why they chose this property
Our family loves the lake life. We rented house boats and homes on different lakes in Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina. We fell in love with Lake Gaston with the large number of secluded coves for great skiing and constant water level. The boat houses are awesome with power, water and boat lifts. Our location is convenient to I-85 which avoids long drives through numerous rural towns. You can't beat the lake life on Lake Gaston at the Great Escape!
We purchased a home on Lake Gaston in 2003 that is only 2 lots down from our current home so we know Great Creek and Lake Gaston very well. We upgraded to the new home to provide more finished space, awesome lake views, larger great room, screened in porch and deeper water at the dock.

What makes this property unique
Our home sits on a very unique penisula lot on 1.5 acres with over 500 feet of shoreline. The water views are really awesome (from 3 sides of home) and the yard is filled with beautiful hardwood trees that provide a mix of shade and privacy while still providing excellent views of the water. A gentle slope to the dock, 10 feet deep water, a quiet cove around the dock to swim, shade at both the house deck and the dock sundeck, three king master suites, 5 bathrooms, screened in porch, enormous kitchen great room, numerous outdoor seating areas and tons of water toys all together make this home truly unique and thus one of the best rental homes on Lake Gaston. This is The Great Escape!
