About this property
Mystic Marais Apartment - Steps to Seine
This superbly situated Marais apartment, both private and central, luxurious and authentic, is set in a building with medieval foundations redesigned in the 20th century by an important architect. This rare, light-filled and lofty-ceilinged one-bedroom apartment rests above the rooftops of Paris and backs up to a private garden.
Located on a pedestrian-only, cobbled street steeped in history, it lies in the perfect section of the Marais: to the south, one block from the Seine and its famous quais, the Île St. Louis and Notre Dame and, to the north and east, several blocks from Marais highlights like the Place des Vosges and l'Hôtel Carnavalet, St. Paul, the remnants of Paris' medieval walls and, of course, lively cafes, wine bars, and restaurants. A one-minute stroll to the rue de Rivoli with metros Hotel de Ville or St. Paul close at hand plus buses and Velib bike station make this location perfect for exploring both the Marais' historic nooks and crannies and all of Paris.
Elegantly decorated, light-filled, comfortable and warm, with an unusually large salon including desk and dining area, the flat boasts a separate and spacious kitchen fully equipped with Bosch dishwasher, stove, and fridge as well as microwave, electric kettle, and hand drip coffee filter.
The cozy bedroom, with its charming period fireplace, high standard queen size bed and good lighting, looks down on the calm garden. A pull-out bed in the living room can accommodate one person.
The bathroom sports a tub with shower handheld attachment, Villeroy and Boch sinks with Fantini faucets and a Bosch washer and dryer.
Sheets and towels provided. Light mid-week cleaning for weeklong stays.
Steps only (no lift), 4th floor.
First thing in the morning, before or after breakfast at the flat or coffee and croissant at one of our local haunts, or in the late afternoon when the skies can be so beautiful, we like to take a walk or ride a bike along the Seine riverbank (the entrance is extremely close to us at the Louis-Philippe bridge). We particularly enjoy the calm in the very center of Paris, with everything in the Marais (Right Bank), Île Saint Louis (just across the bridge), Île de la Cité, and Left Bank (only 5 minutes more across the bridge just behind Notre Dame) right close at hand. We love a full bistrot or brasserie lunch for which Paris is so much appreciated and late afternoon/early evening drinks on the Seine or in one of Paris' fabulous bars set in and out of doors, on rooftops, in hotels and historic gardens, and in local cafés or cozy wine bars. We buy fresh produce, fish, poultry, and flowers at the Place Baudoyer farmer's market which takes place on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hint for non-French speakers: Around the corner, order an excellent cappuccino and book a bike ride at English-speaking "Le Peloton" cafe (owned by Kiwi and American locals).
Safety Precaution: We know that the views are tempting, but hanging out of the windows is prohibited. Please pay particular attention to the kitchen window which we recommend keeping closed, particularly when children are present, as the guard railing is insufficient.
