About this property

Cabin on Mustard Mountain - extended stay retreat

Summary:
Cabin on Mustard Mountain is a well-appointed two bedroom woodland cabin with open plan living space, generous decks and a bonus loft space situated in the Edelweiss community close to Mazama. The cabin is available for extended stays of 30 days or more, ideal for remote working or longer Methow Valley sojourns at all seasons. High speed star link internet lets you keep in touch with the world while enjoying the tranquility of this woodland setting.

The Space:
This is a single level home with an additional loft area above the kitchen. The main living space is open plan with high wood paneled ceilings, sliding doors open onto the deck with woodland views, and glimpses of Lucky Jim Bluff beyond. The living room area has a set of comfortable chairs and a leather couch arranged around the cast iron gas stove and flat screen TV. The kitchen/dining area features breakfast/dining bar with a gorgeous finger-jointed wood slab and five stools. The well-organized kitchen has a dishwasher, gas cook stove with oven, microwave and fridge as well as coffee maker and toaster.

Also on the main level are the primary bedroom with ensuite bathroom (with bathtub and shower over), guest bedroom with twin bed and trundle under, and the guest bathroom with stacked washer/dryer and shower. The loft is accessed by a ladder from the entryway and has an office chair and desk, and a full-size futon.

The driveway and parking are upslope of the house, which is reached by a short path with steps down to the house and the covered side porch where you can stash your bikes and skis. The location is tucked away within the Edelweiss community above Goat Creek Road between Winthrop and Mazama. Edelweiss is a dispersed woodland community of cabins, vacation homes and full time residences bordering National Forest land in the Upper Methow Valley.

The cabin has high speed Starlink satellite internet with speed as high as 180 Mbps, average speed of 80Mbps, low speed of 40Mbps. As it is satellite internet it may cut out periodically: you may experience the occasional cut-out on a zoom call or buffering when watching Netflix.

This home would suit a remote working couple, or family with kids looking for an extended stay in the Methow Valley. A minimum stay of 30 days is required. Please note AWD or 4WD will be needed for winter time access.

The Neighborhood:
The Edelweiss community is located above Goat Creek Road and the Methow River between Winthrop and Mazama and is a dispersed woodland community of cabins, vacation homes and full time residences bordering the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

'Downtown' Mazama, with the Store, Trailhead, Inn Restaurant, and Pub is just a 10 minute drive or 20-30 minute bike ride from the cabin. The nearest trailhead for the Methow Trails network is the Suspension Bridge Trailhead which provides access to the Upper Valley trails in both summer and winter.

Getting Around:
Getting here:
May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over highway 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions).
