About this property
New and Improved Ownership, FingerLakes, NY,Cozy, Historic,Charming
La Belle Maison is a beautifully restored home in the Founders Square area of Geneva, New York. The peaceful neighborhood includes some of the oldest, most prominent and unique homes in Ontario County. The nearby Washington Street Cemetery dates back to the American Civil War era and is a history buffs dream.
La Belle Maison is ideal for a weekend escape or an extended vacation where family or friends can gather and recharge in the “Heart of the Finger Lakes”. The house combines the charm, architecture and furnishings of a century old house (ie hardwood floors and custom built-ins) with modern amenities that include central air conditioning, Wi-Fi and cable TV. The refurbished kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, a gas stove and stainless steel side-by-side refrigerator with ice-maker. The exterior provides several options for entertaining or grabbing some quiet time with a book. The front porch has comfortable Adirondack chairs perfect for an end-of-day sunset with a pour of a Finger Lakes Riesling. The back deck is outfitted with a table & chairs and a gas grill custom made for a cozy picnic. Consistent with old world hospitality, amenities include luxury spa toiletries in each bath, fine linens, bathrobes and a complementary bottle of one of our favorite Finger Lakes wine upon arrival.
La Belle Maison is perfectly located to explore all that Geneva and the greater Finger Lakes area has to offer. It is less than a half-mile walk along beautifully tree-lined streets to the college of Hobart and William Smith or historic South Main Street in Geneva. The downtown shops, restaurants and specialty wine stores provide opportunities to experience the local style, cuisine and world-recognized Finger Lakes wines. Breathtaking views of Seneca Lake are also only a walk away including playgrounds, picnic areas, watercraft rentals as well as lake tours.
The extended Finger Lakes family of wineries, parks and historic points of interest are only a short drive away. Significant destinations of natural beauty include the Finger Lakes National Forest, Watkins Glen State Park with its awe inspiring waterfalls or the 150 acre Cornell Botanic Gardens to name a few. This region has also played a key role in our nation’s history. Points of interest include the Women’s Rights National Historic Park, The Harriet Tubman Home and the Susan B. Anthony Museum & House.
However, the world recognized persona of the Finger Lakes revolves around its’ beautiful water and the terroir that produces world class wines. There are boat launches at marinas on Keuka lake, Cayuga lake and Seneca Lake; Cayuga and Seneca can access the Erie Canal. The Finger Lakes region is a four-season area providing fun and relaxation year-round. Winter activities including cross country & downhill skiing as well as snowshoeing. Summer and fall offer horseback riding, cycling, hiking, hunting and fishing.
.Although this region has long been known for wonderful Rieslings and other white varietals, many wine makers are producing red wine that competes with California, Spain and old-world producers. Some of our favorite wineries are Red Tail Ridge, Kemmeter, Six Eighty Cellars, Atwater, Hermann J. Wiemer, Weis, Dr. Konstantin Frank, Trestle Thirty One, Ravines and Living Roots.
Finally, the food options in this area are vast and range from hometown diners to opulent culinary experiences. Our recommendations include the Star Diner, Kindred Fare, Anorah Restaurant and Bar, Ports Cafe, FLX Table and Belhurst Castle.
We look forward to welcoming you at La Belle Maison in pretty Geneva, New York.
