My husband and I had a great stay and really enjoyed having a quiet place in the woods to relax after exploring the Traverse City area. There’s a fire pit on the property that’s uphill from the house that was nice to sit around in the evening.
Very clean & private setting. Comfortable bed & sleeper sofa. Step- in shower. Pet allowed. Be sure to take hike up the hill for sitting around a fire pit. Eat at Torch Lake Cafe for delicious food & great service!

Beautiful location. Drove from Ohio to northern Michigan on a weekend getaway for Labor Day weekend. We drove 10 hours overnight and were looking for a place to stay to explore the nearby dunes and pictured rocks farther north. We did not stay in the lodge too much as we were out and about, but the property had everything you need with cooking utensils and also a fire pit that was nice for a campfire at the top of the hill. The only thing that we experienced that was an issue was the check-in.
Wonderful place to unplug ! Very innovative, comfortable place. Excellent communication and smooth check in. We would definitely consider staying again if we were in the area.
Thanks for a great stay !
Check-in was seamless once I found the keypad. It was dusk and I expected a keypad with raised numbers on the door. My fault! This is a lovely place to stay. The kitchen had all the essentials. Keurig coffee maker. I loved the feel of being in a log cabin! The rocks in the walls are a nice addition. My husband, a rock hound, loved the bathroom and shower floors! Beautiful and well-maintained. Pet friendly!DNR kayak and boat launch is about 5 minutes away on Torch Lake.
Very nice place. Everything was clean and tidy. It has a very minimal kitchen so don’t plan on making any elaborate meals. Other than that it was perfect for our needs for a weekend stay to attend a wedding. Would def stay again for a similar situation.
We had a wonderful stay at The Forge. It’s interesting to see the architecture of a cord built room and the light from all the windows is really lovely. The kitchen is cute and efficient and it was very clean. It rained while we were there and the patter of rain on the roof was very soothing. We’ll definitely be back! It was a great location for running thru several little towns and visiting nearby orchards.
My boyfriend and I were very happy with our stay! Communication was quick and efficient. The house was perfect for a long weekend; all of the detail made it cozy and inviting. Proximity to the lake was a nice perk. The surroundings were peaceful. They do have basic kitchen items. The towels are nice, it’s nice that they have shampoo in case you forget yours. If you’re a boater, the driveway is perfect for parking and easy in and out. Would definitely stay again!
My husband and I stayed in this cute cozy place for a wedding weekend in Central Lake. It is very true to its listing and is a basic studio that had what we needed for the weekend.
2 things to note if you’re renting - the coffee pot is a Keurig and we needed to pick up pods which was fine (Dollar store). Also the listing is clear there isn’t a hair dryer and that is in fact the case. :). Enjoy this lovely area!!

Thanks for your review, and feedback. We have added both some K-cups, and a hairdryer to improve any future stays.
What a charming spot! This rental was perfect for us, a retired couple and our dog. I could also see it for a lovely romantic stay or for skiers. From the moment we walked in we were in love! This place was extraordinarily clean, ten stars for that.We used every inch of the place: we baked Aussie hand pies from Charlevoix in the old-school oven; we stored plenty of groceries in the vintage refrigerator (shout out to Eastport Market for their carry outs). We microwaved and used the stovetop. All in working order and everything we needed to do all those activities, dishes, sharp knives and pans etc.Loved the lighting options, dimmable switches everywhere you needed them. Handy for us old folks. Also reading lights, good because we were rained in for a couple of days...The weather cooled off while we were there, we hope to return and introduce our dog to swimming in the Lake next time. This is a fantastic location, 20 min from Alden, Elk Rapids, Charlevoix, Bellaire- and for those with childhood memories- across the street from Brownwood Acres! My ten year old self was so thrilled! We hope to return again soon.
No TV but that’s ok. One bar or less WiFi so very difficult. No cards. No games. No instructions where to go or what to do. Found out too late by reading reviews there is a firepit at the top of the hill for sunsets. The beach across the street wasn’t a beach. You could put a kayak in the water there is about it and no instructions how to find it. Had to buy batteries to operate the remote for the heater. Heater shined a bright light on us all night. Pans were yucky so I just boiled an egg for breakfast. No toaster. Brought coffee but had to go out and buy Keurig cups. Only one room and frig made noises all night along with the heater. I really don’t think my standards are too high. I thought I did thorough research but I guess not. We travel a lot and use VRBO. Never have written a bad review but I felt this was necessary.

I am sorry that you did not fully enjoy your time staying with us, but thank you for your feedback. I was able to make some improvements before the next guest.
I do wish you would have said something about the internet as there is very fast WiFi in the unit which you must not have been correctly connecting too.
