The house is spacious and loved the windows overlooking the mountains and town. The hot tub was amazing and great for relaxing at night. The rooms were comfy and lots of sitting area to hang out. Overall great place to stay!
This is a great place to stay. The cabin has great views, especially of Sierra Blanca. You feel like you're on top of the mountain looking down on Ruidoso. It is very well kept. The hot tub is very nice after a day of shopping or playing. Both the upper and lower deck are wonderful to lounge around on. You will see plenty of deer, elk, and wild horses. The host is very helpful and accommodating. There are a lot of stairs, if you have trouble with them keep that in mind. Also the driveway is steep. You'll be fine in normal weather, but if there's snow you will need 4x4.Throughly enjoyed our stay. We will stay again
Overall the stay was great. The cleaniness was a bit low, crumbs of food from previous guests, pet hair around the carpets & rugs. Only half of the hot tub jets worked. But other than that the house was great.

Hello Malorie, thnk you for letting us know, we take all feedback seriously and have passed this along to our housekeeping manager and the housekeeper. This cabin is booked solid with turn around after turn around, it is likely it needs another deep clean.
Plenty of serine views around the house! We had mule deer and elk almost every morning on the property, even one specific mule deer we saw every morning that my girls named Chocolate:)
Absolutely loved the house! My kids loved the three stories, I myself, maybe too old for that many stairs! But totally worth it for the views! BEAUTIFUL!!!The only thing that we had concerns with was the cleanliness. For a 200 cleaning fee, I would expect much more. Besides the dirty windows, vents, ceiling fans, and baseboards…we found old food, dog food & hair on the floor. Also found a dirty t-shirt and used baby bottle under separate beds. (The beds are really tall, so it’s super easy to look under). The master bedroom sheets were stained. We rewashed to make sure they were clean, and they were…just a big stain. (In my opinion that doesn’t look good for a rental.) Also there were several things that were broken…the BBQ grill, one of the areas wouldn’t light and we could never get it to heat up to temperature to grill steaks. The dryer was super hard to start, and doesn’t shut off (could be a fire risk)…and the top rack of the dishwasher was broken to where if you pulled it out to load, it would fall. You could still use it if you put it back in, but super hard to load and empty like that. The hosts were fabulous. Very communicative and asked what they could improve. Just hope they take our constructive criticism. We would stay there again IF the cleaning was better.

Thank you for the feedback, we have had the dryer replaced and the BBQ grill fixed. We are sorry our housekeeper dropped the ball putting stained sheets on the bed (these are always from our detergent) and for not seeing debris under the bed, as we have regular inspectors which also missed this, and for that we do apologize. We will take a look into the dishwasher. This cabin is rented back to back to back with very little time in between to rememdy some issues, this is no excuse of course, but as a rental it takes a bit of a beating due to its popularity. Again we appreciate your patronage and thanks for being great guests.
We really enjoyed our stay. The views were amazing and the house was just like the pictures. We had deer right outside the cabin and saw elk when driving around the neighborhood every afternoon. Great location being close to Ski Apache, ski rental shops, and about a 10 min drive into downtown Ruidoso. There were a few maintenance issues that needed addressing but nothing that affected our stay or overall review.
Home was very nicely decorated and well maintained. Fantastic views is an understatement. Hot Tub, fire tables on front and back deck and comfortable beds. Driveway (paved) is pretty steep, but the views are worth it.
The house has spectacular views of the mountains and Ruidoso valley; has great features (including pool table, hot tub. games and separated bedrooms); and has quality furnishings.
Maintenance needs were quickly addressed.
We stayed at this property for new years and it did not disappoint!!! The views are breathtaking! The house was so much fun! Everything you could ask for in a Ruidoso cabin! Thankful for the memories & time we spent here! The office management & host were excellent! We would absolutely stay here again thanks upper canyon lodging!

Lots of steep roads and stairs
Not a fan and probably won’t stay there again. We are all over 70 and the stairs were very difficult and very hard getting luggage up stairs. We would not venture out after dark because of the area and steep roads and driveway. The cleaning crew did not do a good job. We love Ruidoso and hated we all had to leave early because of health reasons.I don’t like to not give a good review. It was just not a good fit for us. Did enjoy the views.

We are sorry this was your experience with us, please note the pictures are very clear of the two sets of stairs in the home, we have dozens of other rentals on flat ground and are sorry we couldnt get you moved as you had to depart early. We deeply apologise if you found the cleaning crew didn't do a good job, we have one dedicated housekeeper and an inspector for this location and will pass along your feedback to them immediately, as they have always done an excellent job in the past. We also have this location deep cleaned 4x a year as it is heavily rented. Please let us know what you found to be missed so we may review our housekeeping checklist with our team.

Only bad things
Most of the dishes needed washed before we could use them. If you want to really prep and cook a good meal there are limited utensils and bakeware

Hello, we are sorry this was the case as we do require guests to clean their own dishes prior to departing, that being said our housekeeping staff is to inspect dishes and dish count prior to a guests' stay.
The view was absolutely amazing! The driveway is very steep and has some tight turns, but our vehicle was more than capable of making it work- but I could see how others may have some difficulties if they weren’t fully aware. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to stay comfortably. The bottom floor has a game room type area which was an added bonus and made our time inside even more fun! I do wish there was more of the ‘day in day out’ items such as a cookie sheet for the oven, more than one dishwasher pod/soap, some laundry detergent or pods as there was none, and more than one coffee filter for our stay of 3 nights/4 days. Overall, the stay was very nice and we are so appreciative of the opportunity to stay in this home. We absolutely loved the beautiful view of the mountains in the background while we enjoyed the hot tub!

Thank you for the excellent review, please note there should have been more dishwasher soap and coffee filters then that, if you choose to stay with us again and items are low on stock, don't hesitate to give us a call and will can bring you some ASAP.
I loved everything about this property, except its exposure to the west wind. The view is absolutely incredible! The balconies and decks are as advertised. Hot tub worked. The property was pretty clean.Three issues I encountered during my stay. First, the wind. If there is significant wind, you will hear it in both bedrooms through the doors to the balconies… and it was LOUD! I had difficulty sleeping two of the nights I stayed because of the noise. One night I ended up sleeping on a couch just to try to distance myself from those windows and doors.Second, the west facing windows were absolutely covered in dust when I arrived and I had to spend about 20 minutes cleaning them to be able to enjoy the view. Finally, I was disappointed that it wasn’t obviously where they had soap and shampoo for the shower. I finally found it, but it took 2 days to figure it out.Despite everything, it is a great property if you don’t have to worry about the wind. I wouldn’t suggest being there in the spring months. It would be a great place to stay in the calmer summer or fall months.

We asked the manager if there was a lot of wildlife that visited property for viewing and he responded yes. Our final decision to stay here rode on that suggestion which was incorrect-we were at property most of time and saw ZERO. We asked someone in area and they stated a couple of deer can be seen from time to time--so very disappointing. There is a huge grade to get to house and weather was a little slick so we missed a dinner even though my Maserati SUV is AWD--wasn't worth sliding anywhere at that elevation. The upstairs bedroom we stayed in had a slightly eaten cupcake in a paper container on night stand next to bed when we arrived--don't believe it was a welcome gift. There were sticky spots on upstairs between lounger chairs--didn't want to know what this was. There was food all between and under some of the chair cushions--cleaning folks left an envelope for tips--TIP--get a new cleaning crew--worst I've ever seen. Part of electricity went out in kitchen and the maintenance lady that came out was very nice but couldn't fix problem! The view was great and this is about the only thing I can say positive about this place. I take that back-the 3rd level TV was large and more in line with what we have at home. Unfortunately we would never stay here again. DrJ

Hello and thank you for the review. Unfortunately we cannot control when and how many wildlife will come visit the cabin. As stated in the listing there is indeed a very steep driveway, we plow and salt it as often as we can in the winter months. We are sorry if clenliness was not up to par, we have reported this to housekeeping and our inspector. Thanks for staying with us.
