Thank you for your kind words! We're glad you had a pleasant stay and found the home comfortable and convenient. We'd love to host you again.
We loved staying here. It is everything it promises. We had a blast lounging in the pool and hanging out. It is a little farther away from some of the attractions of SD, but you get so much more space for your money.
We spent the holidays at this destination. It was great for our family, including adults, children, and 2 dogs! Communication with the host was excellent. We had a few issues that were made into non-issues because they were so attentive (ie, garbage disposal stopped working but they had it fixed within an hour). There is a lot to do at the house, with games and toys everywhere (ping pong, bags, etc). We would recommend!
We rented this house for our annual siblings weekend. More than enough room for everyone. The house is welcoming & comfortable. Very clean. Pool was great. We appreciated the outdoor seating to sit & chat. Close to food & shopping. Easy check in & check out. Prompt communication from owner. Highly recommend.
I have stayed at many homes in San Diego over the years, most of the time on Mission Beach during the Summer. This was the first time visiting San Diego in March so stayed inland. This was by far the best I have ever stayed at. Beautiful home with every imaginable amenity provided, the "guest house" by the pool is special, all the rooms are spacious, and the home itself is impeccable. If you stay in March you definitely want the pool to be heated and pay the extra charge, it would be to cold to swim. The hosts are incredible, wonderful people who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were perfect for the 3 kids, and the adults, and the gym in the garage is a huge bonus. Highly recommend this home, we will be back!!!

Casey thought of everything in this property so that everyone in our family could have a wonderful time. My family (including 2yo, 3 months, and in-laws) loved this place - there was a bed/ bassinet for my newborn, children's potty for my 2 yo, high chair, games, crazy fancy appliances that connect to the Internet and can play music from the fridge, games, pool toys, stocked kitchen, a workout room with something for all skill levels and comfy beds in every room. The neighborhood was safe and in walking distance to the mall area, food, and train..Casey was so attentive to our needs and great to work with.
The place is so cute and we didn't want to leave! Best VRBO we've been to, and plenty of room for our extended family.

Anna,
It was a pleasure hosting your family, and we're absolutely delighted that you had a fantastic stay! We've put a lot of thought into making our home a welcoming place for guests of all ages. Your kind words mean the world to us, and we'd love to have you back anytime.
We made last minute change to our spring break plans and I happened upon this little gem. It was a little farther inland than originally wanted but it turned out to be a perfect spot. Close to everything and only a quick little jaunt over to the beach if needed. The house was great plenty of room for everyone. My 5 year old was excited to have her own room. The game room in the garage was great and we spent many hours in there. I achieved the high score on Punisher. So good luck to everyone else that tries. I The pool was a little chilly for April, if I had more notice of this trip I would have asked for it to be heated. Definitely a great spot and will consider it again for our future trips to San Diego.

Hey Rick, we truly appreciate your review! We're glad the timing worked out and that we were able to host you. You're welcome back anytime and we will keep you posted if anyone beats your score ;)! Take care!
House has many amenities that made it very enjoyable...pool, lovely kitchen, coffee and filters, hot tub, guest house, wifi, and comfortable beds and bedding.
The house needs:
The hallway bathroom was found needing repairs to toilet seat and toilet paper holder.
The floor fan in one bedroom is noisy.
The guest house is musty smelling and the TV has a terrible picture.
The lights at the pool need to be reset on their timer as they are on all night and were shining through all windows.
The TV remote in one bedroom falls off the velcro.
We had a family group of 8, with ages 8 to 78. We enjoyed the setup of the home, which was also appointed well for keeping us comfortable and entertained. The home looks great, though some areas need a little TLC (e.g., worn out hinges on various furniture & cabinets) -- I think they simply have lots of occupancy and things get wear and tear. Would really add to this place if the casita had a bathroom, but otherwise a good setup. We enjoyed having the garage workout area and laundry facilities. The hot tub was great, and the pool is lovely (though during Dec/Jan, not sure it was worth the heating fee). Patio was very pleasant for lounging. We had a few minor issues at that the host handled quickly. They were easy to reach via text and very responsive. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet, with easy access to freeways to get into downtown and other areas. The immediate area is not particularly scenic and the local plazas have some tasty food options, but all on the rough and ready end of the spectrum. Easy access to numerous box stores and local groceries.

Why they chose this property
Tucked away in the hills of San Diego County, La Mesa is one of those places that just feels easy to love. With leafy streets, a walkable downtown, and that classic SoCal sunshine, it’s the kind of spot where you can kick back or head out for a little adventure—whatever mood you're in.'
Locals call it the "Jewel of the Hills" for a reason. There’s no shortage of scenic spots, from hiking trails to quiet parks. Just 5 minutes away is Mission Trails Regional Park—a massive outdoor playground with over 8,000 acres of trails, hills, and valleys. Lake Murray is part of it too, and it’s perfect for paddle boarding, kayaking, or just relaxing by the water.
If you’re up for a challenge (and a killer view), Cowles Mountain is nearby and totally worth the climb. It’s San Diego’s highest point, and on clear days, you can actually see the ocean and Mexico from the top. The main trailhead’s less than 2 miles away, and the 3-mile round trip is great cardio—just don’t forget your water and sunscreen, there’s not much shade!
Mount Helix is also close by, and it's got stunning 360° views—great for a chill morning hike or a quick sunset trip. Another hidden gem? La Mesa’s “Secret Stairs” in the Mt. Nebo area. They’re a fun (and slightly sweaty) way to explore the neighborhood on foot.
For something low-key, Harry Griffen Park is a great hangout with big grassy areas, a playground, and even live music in the summer. And if you're into fresh produce or just love wandering farmers markets, head to the La Mesa Farmers' Market on Friday afternoons—it’s full of good vibes, local goodies, and great eats.
You’ll also be close to all the essentials—grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops (yep, there’s a Starbucks nearby), and shopping spots like Grossmont Center and Parkway Plaza.
Everything else you’d want to explore is within 15 miles—think breweries, wine bars, SDSU, Liberty Station, Balboa Park, Old Town, SeaWorld, concert spots, and downtown nightlife.
What makes this property unique
Our place is in a super convenient spot—right near the I-8 and the 125 Freeway—so getting around by car is a breeze.
You’ll have access to private parking in the garage and driveway. Got extra cars? There’s some street parking nearby, but it can be a bit limited. The Grossmont Center and Trolley Station are just a short walk away, making it easy to hop on public transit and explore the area without driving.
