Located in Manson, this holiday home is on the waterfront. Lake Gaston and John H. Kerr Reservoir reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include McGregor Hall and South Hill Model Train Museum.
This is a beautiful house and the property manager was great. The dock area was beautiful and the kids enjoyed the basement play area. The house had everything we needed, though I do wish there was a gas grill. Just one issue to keep in mind: this is really a six person house. There are 3 queen beds. The other sleeping capacity is air mattresses and uncomfortable pull outs. And there is a charge for more than 6 people (just to sleep on the floor). But with that said, we would definitely stay here again. Great house with a beautiful beach area, which is really all that matters at the lake!

Thank you for your feedback, Hayes! We’re so glad you enjoyed the home, the dock area, and the play space for the kids.
We appreciate your notes on the sleeping arrangements and will take a closer look at how that information is communicated in the listing to ensure expectations are clear.
Thanks again for staying with us — we’d love to host you again in the future!
We loved this property for so many reasons. Nature, seclusion, hiking trail, private dock, beach area, the deck and they welcome our furry family also!!! Many hours spend sittingnoutside listening to nature, water slooshing and birds chirping. Our entire family loved this place!! The communication with the owners was incredible.
This property is outstanding and Andrea is am amazing host! Communication with her during our stay was excellent, the house is just as pictured and more and the dock/beach area is awesome! Be sure to bring your S'mores sticks and if you have any other needs while there, Buchanan's General Store just up the road is an amazing place to go for everything - even delicious ice cream!! A great choice of properties!PS: Don't forget the worms! Although small, the fish are abundant and hungry!! PSS: Rental of the golf cart is highly recommended as it is a somewhat long distance to the lake.

We are so glad you enjoyed your time! You were a pleasure to host!
Lovely, well-appointed property, very clean and well-laid out. We cooked at home and the kitchen was very complete. We found that we didn't need the golf cart, despite renting it on advice of the reviews. Elderly grandparents and toddler were able to handle the walk and the sandy "beach" is nicer than the photo. Minor negatives: You must remove your trash at the end of your stay (the dump on our route was closed at that time) and the electronic lock was malfunctioning (could be user failure). Andrea was available at all times to help on the phone, and she was able to remotely operate the lock.
The house is very modern and new. Came with every kitchen/bathroom need possible. Property manager was very quick to respond with a couple questions we had. Overall very pleased with our stay!
This is a beautiful home. Great access to the lake and dog friendly. We were only 5 minutes from our family that live on Kerr Lake. Beautiful views and big open porches. Very quiet setting. I would recommend you pay extra to rent the golf cart. Andrea was a wonderful hostess and had everything we needed. Definately will return.
Beautiful home with all the extra touches (paper products, hand soap, shampoo, etc.) provided in a very quiet setting. We enjoyed the back porch and the fire pit. A couple of things to be aware of: the road leading up to the home is gravel (well maintained), the walk to the dock is about 1/5 of a mile on somewhat uneven ground, and the stairs going into the basement are steep and unfinished. We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the relaxation. Deer greeted us each morning. We would recommend this home to others looking for a quiet retreat near the lake.

Hello Pam, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I did want to follow up with the steps going to the basement because they have been finished now. Also, there is a golf cart available for rent to make the walk accessible to those that are not able to walk very far. I’m so glad you enjoyed your time there and hope to host you again soon!
The house is very nice and was very clean upon our arrival. We were disappointed to learn how far the house was from the lake and beach, a longer walk through the woods than we had anticipated.
One problem noted on arrival was that the tray in the ice maker was broken and all the ice made fell down into the freezer... all day and all night. The ice maker was on and we were not able to turn it off. The owner told us on the phone that she knew about this problem before we arrived.
At 5:15 AM on our last night the carbon monoxide alarm went off, waking us to a possible emergency. We quickly determined that there were no sources of CO in the house and that the CO detector was located in the highest peak of the lofted ceiling where it wouldn't detect CO until the house was full. We were not able to reach the alarm to turn it off because of its location; the owner said her husband would come by the house around 8:00 that morning to see what he could do, which we considered an unsatisfactory response. Therefore, we decided to just pack up and leave early rather than put up with the loud continuous alarm and announcement of carbon monoxide detected. A frustrating end to an otherwise pleasant stay.

Hello William, thank you for your feedback!
Again, I’m sorry about the icemaker, the previous guest broke it and did not let us know, so we were not aware until the cleaner went to clean the property and reported it. The icemaker was turned off but somehow it got turned back on? We have since gotten a new icemaker bin and have replaced it so thankfully, that’s no longer an issue. The carbon monoxide detector downstairs was removed and replaced with a regular smoke alarm and we put in a plug-in carbon monoxide detector and we have not having any further issues with any of the smoke alarms. We did offer to come out right away, but you said no, since it was 10 or 11 PM at night so I told you my husband would come in the morning. I’m not sure how else we could’ve handled that situation. Thankfully, it has been resolved and should not be an issue any longer. I’m sorry for your inconvenience!
