Relaxing hot tub and indoor soaking tub, bonfire, picnic area, foosball & more!
Recently renovated, Blue Mountain Retreat is relaxing fall, winter, spring or summer. Located in the heart of Laurel Highlands about a mile from Kooser State Park nestled between Hidden Valley, Seven Springs and Laurel Mountain ski resorts, this family and pet friendly cabin in the woods has everything you need to enjoy an outdoor getaway. Travelers have enjoyed this cozy home in the mountains as a solo rejuvenating escape for 1, a romantic getaway for 2, a family vacation, or a get together with friends/extended family.
Nearby attractions include hiking, biking, skiing, fishing, golfing, star gazing, bird watching, restaurants, spas and more. Enjoy the many trails and ponds nearby at Kooser (2 minute drive), Laurel Hill (7 minute drive) or Forbes (12 minute drive) State Parks. Bike the GAP trail at Rockwood just 15 minutes away. Check out the local resorts for food, golf, spas, mountain biking, special events, skiing and more at Hidden Valley (5 minute drive), Seven Springs (17 minute drive), or Laurel Mountain (30 minute drive). Peruse the local towns of Somerset (15 minute drive), Ligonier (30 minute drive) or Ohiopyle (34 minute drive) for restaurants, shopping, white water rafting and trails. Local attractions also include Idlewild, Caddyshack, Living Treasures Animal Park, Laurel Caverns, Jennerstown Speedway, Fort Ligonier and more! Glade Pike Winery tasting room is just up the road with live music on Saturday nights as well. Check out laurelhighlands.com for more ideas.
Even though you will feel like you are in the middle of the woods in a peaceful setting, if you forget anything a gas station/convenience store is only a 2 minute drive away and a grocery store is only a 20 minute drive away.
Once you settle in, you will enjoy a backyard with a picnic table, gas grill, bonfire pit, and hot tub or the spacious kitchen and spa soaker tub in the first floor bathroom. Excellent WiFi service will help you stay connected to friends, family, and work (Gasp! Only if necessary...you should be relaxing!) or allow you to finally binge watch that series you always wanted to see. A variety of games, foosball, and darts will help you stay entertained and unplug from screens too!
3 bedrooms and 2 baths accommodates a maximum of 8 people and 2 well behaved, house trained dogs. There is an additional $30 per night pet fee when fur family joins you at the cabin. Please be sure to check the pet box when booking to pay during booking your reservation, or pay it before your arrival.
If you have additional people or pets in your party, please message to inquire about also renting Mountain Grove (with indoor treehouse kid gaming room also accommodating up to 8 people. See VRBO.com/3615517 ) adjacent to Blue Mountain Retreat. Multiple families have enjoyed renting both cabins for relaxing family reunions or birthday celebrations.
The location off of 31 makes it easily accessible year round, but far enough off the road to be peacefully tucked in the woods. A limit of 3 cars per cabin has to be maintained because there is no overflow parking available nearby (AWD or 4WD vehicles during the winter months of snow are required for ease of access). Visitors should be accounted for in your reservation.
We cannot wait to host you! Feel free to reach out with any questions about additional attractions or inquiries.

Thank you! I like to make things easy for guests so they can enjoy all of the amazing opportunities to explore nearby. There are plenty of brochures and maps in the house to peruse and a variety of towns within 15 - 30 minutes each way to get anything you need. Our cleaning crew does an excellent job making sure our cabin is ready for guests too, we wholeheartedly agree! Please come again!
Property was convenient to get to all the local activities we wanted to. The hot tub and firepit area were perfect to wind down in the evening. Lots of games and indoor activities, too. My kids loved the foosball table. Host communication was excellent!

Thank you so much! We are so happy you loved our cabin! I am always delighted to help and also provide proactive info to make a stay with us easy and relaxing. Please come again!
Had a great stay with my family! We have two young kids who enjoyed the house, the hot tub, games, nearby lake, and living treasures. The house was clean and was well stocked with everything we needed. The road/driveway is a bit bumpy with all the gravel but not difficult to navigate at all and our little HRV had no trouble. The host responded quickly and was available at all times. Would stay again!

Thank you! We are delighted you and your family enjoyed your stay and had everything you needed. Upon request, a high chair and/or pack n play are available for guests, but we keep them safely tucked away in a locked supply closet so they remain clean and in tip top condition until needed. Also, 4WD or AWD is best in snowy weather because our 2 parking areas on either side of the house are about 50 yards and 100 yards off of the county road on a private, gravel lane. We have it regraveled and regraded each year, but in very rainy seasons, like this summer, sometimes the road gets bumpy and that little stretch needs to be taken slowly. We do plow it during winter months so it is easy for renters, maintanence, us and cleaning to get to it.
The cabins are in a little Conservation Civilian Corp era neighborhood nook close enough to 31 and any shopping and activities to be convenient, but private enough that you feel like you are in a little oasis while relaxing. The other cabins are farther away down the lane. You can see the road and neighborhood in the last photo. Some renters even like to rent both cabins side by side for multi family get togethers because the one next door does not have a hot tub, but has an indoor treehouse for kids and is easier for some grandparents with no steps into the bedrooms and a lovely front porch. Check out Mountain Grove listing 3615517 to see inside. Thank you again for taking good care of our mountain home. We hope to host you again anytime!
This was, by far, the cleanest vrbo rental we have ever stayed at with some of the most comfortable furniture and beds. Lisa, the host was great to communicate with and made sure we had a wonderful weekend getaway for my birthday. We enjoyed the hot tub and fireplace each night after exploring the local state parks and cuisine. We would definitely stay again in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Thank you! Kids and adults love the spacious backyard safely tucked between our two rental cabins. Fun fact, if you ever want to rent both, the cabin next door has an indoor treehouse that kids love! It is a great multi family get away. When my brother and his family come into town, his family stays here and we stay next door with our parents since both cabins can accommodate up to 16 people (8 at each cabin). One house becomes the stay up late house, and one becomes the go to bed early for little ones and rise with coffee & breakfast house. The kids love going in between since they are so close and safe for enjoying the hot tub, s'mores by the bonfire, and indoor treehouse video gaming or movie watching. So happy that you enjoyed making Laurel Highlands memories together too & hope you come again!
Thank you! Even when the weather doesn't cooperate, there's still so much fun to be had & memories to make. So happy you had a wonderful weekend after all & got on the slopes. The nice thing about less than ideal weather is shorter lift lines! Come back anytime!
Great location, good communication and extremely clean. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you so much! We love this location too since it is so easy to get to any of the 3 ski resorts or several state parks for Laurel Highlands hiking and outdoor adventuring. Somerset is just 15 minutes away that has everything you could need too, but the cabin feels remote tucked away in a little neighborhood of Conservation Civilian Corps cabins for a wonderful get away! Please come again!
Very nice and clean, great location close to ski resorts. Host was very friendly and responsive

Thank you so much! We pride ourselves on good hospitality and housekeeping! It is such an easy drive to any of the 3 ski resorts from our cabin that we sometimes do all 3 in one weekend since they each have their own vibe. Thank you for choosing and taking good care of our mountain home. Please come again!

Thank you so much for coming all the way from Texas to enjoy the snow. It is a pretty easy drive from Pittsburgh airport about an hour and half away or Latrobe airport about 40 minutes away. Downtown Pittsburgh is only about an hour away so guests sometimes enjoy a Pens, Steelers, or Pirates game or any of the museums and restaurants in downtown Pittsburgh while visiting too! We also always love when guests come back home to see family & enjoy making memories at our cabin. Safe travels! We thank you for taking such good care of our home & hope to host you again in the future!
The host was very good at communicating everything we could ever need. The house was located perfectly and was perfectly kept. Could not have asked for better accommodations!

My husband and I love to rehab properties and keep a few gems to ourselves that we like to share with others. We love being close to hiking, biking, skiing, restaurants and that feeling like you are going back to a simpler time. Playing board games and hanging out with friends and family around a campfire make all of the hard work renovating houses worth it. Please come enjoy our home that we lovingly and creatively reinvented.
