Hi, I’m Carolee, and I’m so glad you’re considering a stay at The Village at Houser’s Crossing!

One of my favorite parts of owning The Village is helping guests plan the perfect getaway. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing weekend surrounded by nature, an adventure exploring the area, a ride on the train to historic Jim Thorpe, or simply a peaceful place to unplug, I love sharing my favorite local tips and helping you make the most of your stay.

When I’m not welcoming guests, you’ll often find me enjoying the outdoors. I love riding my horses, biking, exploring the beautiful countryside, and spending time with my family and friends. Living here has given me a true appreciation for the beauty, history, and outdoor adventures that make this area so special.

The Village at Houser’s Crossing is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place I’m proud to share with others. My goal is for you to arrive as our guest and leave with wonderful memories, a few new favorite places, and a reason to come back.

The Village at Houser’s Crossing is tucked away in the beautiful hills of South Tamaqua, where nature, history, and railroad heritage come together. Our private 10-acre property feels like a peaceful little village of its own, surrounded by wooded hills, open space, and the sounds of nature—with the railroad tracks adding a unique touch to the experience.

What I love most about the area is how much there is to explore while still feeling like you’ve escaped the crowds. We’re close to historic Jim Thorpe, hiking and biking trails, scenic drives, local restaurants, wineries, breweries, and outdoor adventures. And with our private railroad crossing, guests can enjoy the fun of riding the train to Jim Thorpe on select weekends without worrying about traffic or parking.

I especially love the combination of peace and adventure here. You can spend the morning exploring, come home to The Village, sit around the fire pit, watch the trains go by, and simply enjoy the beauty and quiet of the mountains. It’s the kind of place where you can do as much—or as little—as you want.

The Village at Houser’s Crossing is unlike anywhere else you’ll stay. Our private, gated 10-acre property is a historic Anthracite patch town brought back to life, offering guests the rare opportunity to stay in beautifully restored homes surrounded by nature, history, and railroad heritage.

What truly sets us apart is the experience. We have our own private railroad crossing and are an official flag stop, allowing overnight guests to ride the train directly from The Village to historic Jim Thorpe on weekends throughout the year and New for 2026 Fridays in September, November, & December. —no traffic, no searching for parking, and no stress. It’s a fun and memorable way to explore the area.

Each of our four unique homes offers privacy and character, while the Village itself provides plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors, including fire pits, a meditation garden, recreational areas, and beautiful scenery.

Most importantly, we’re not simply offering a place to sleep—we’re creating an experience. As your host, I love helping guests plan their perfect getaway, from finding local adventures and restaurants to making the most of the train, hiking, biking, history, and everything the area has to offer.
