About this property
Beautifully renovated country house in fantastic location and a vast private pool!
The 19th century renovated farmhouse 'Laudinie' is beautifully situated on a hill at the end of a dirt road off a quiet country lane. The house is free-standing, amidst 11 hectares of private land. Those seeking peace will find it here. 'Laudinie' is fully protected from prying eyes - perfect for a private, rejuvenating vacation! The generous sunbathing area surrounding the very large pool (20x45ft, up to 12ft deep) invites you to enjoy undisturbed sunbathing or relax in the shade of large trees. The covered BBQ and lounge space allows for grilling even in (rare) uncertain weather conditions. Enjoy enchanting sunsets from the wide-view terrasse which can be accessed through the romantic courtyard or the living room. Four bedrooms, a fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom provide all the comfort necessary to never leave the house if you so desire!
Although privately located, the house is centrally situated amidst innumerable attractions and outdoor activities of the Dordogne. The Dordogne is most famous for its worldclass medieval castles (Chateau Castelnaud / Beynac / Milandes / Marqueyssac), medieval towns (Sarlat / Domme / LaRocGageac / Perigueux) and prehistoric sites (Font de Gaume / Lascaux / RocSt.Christophe). Within 10min of the property you can also indulge in numerous outdoor activities such as canoeing, golfing, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, water and adventure parks etc.
To discover : Every day of the week a traditional street market is taking place in another romantic medieval town close by. A great opportunity to taste the regional delicacies - a highlight for all gourmets!
Various large and small wineries invite you to taste their produce. Discover the famous wine regions of Bergerac, Monbazillac, Cahors, and Bordeaux and live 'like God in France'.
The region is known the world over for its wealth in prehistoric caves with up to 17,000 years old polychrome works of art (Lascaux 30min, Font de Gaume 10min, Grotte de Rouffignac 10 min), as well as geologically unique stalactite and stalagmite caves (Grotte Grand Roc 10min, Gouffre de Proumeyssac 20min, Gouffre Padirac 1hour). The village 'Les Eyzies' (10 min) is home to the National Museum of Prehistory and the international exposure and information center 'Pole International de la Prehistoire'.
The medieval castles of 'Chateau Castlenaud' and 'Chateau Beynac' (conquered by Richard the Lionheart) have played crucial roles in the french/english Hundred Years War in the 14th century. Both provide unforgettable visits and great insights into europe's medieval history through museums and fantastic architecture. The 'Chateau des Milandes' and 'Chateau Marqueyssac' are also great highlights that shouldn't be missed.
A large network of hiking trails lead through the whole region. Along wild creeks, through endless chestnut and oak forests, past impressive rock formations and stunning natural landscapes. The property owner's daughter Michela is a professional tour guide and will gladly provide you with options!
There are also seven golf courses in the region, four 9-hole and three 18-hole.
The Dordogne lets children's hearts beat faster, too. The world of dinosaurs and stone age man is approached in creative and interactive ways (e.g. 'Prehisto Park', 'Roc de Cazelle', or the 'Parc du Bournat'). Europe's largest privately owned freshwater aquarium is only 15 km away ('Aquarium du Perigord Noir'). It also has a go-karting park, mini-golf and a fun park with water slides, pony rides, railway etc ('Jacquou Parc'). In addition, there's horse riding and canoeing a stone's throw away.
The ideal holiday region for families with various generations - through the wide range of excursions all ages will find suitable thrills!
