Located in Roque-Gageac, "prettiest village of France", the Lithodora house overlooks the valley of the Dordogne, opposite the castle of Castelnaud. This renovated farmhouse dating back to 1800 has two bodies and offers an exceptional quality lodging thanks to its direct environment (secured swimming pool, stunning view, 3876m2 of grounds) and to the surrounding area. It is indeed close to Sarlat, the Lascaux caves, the manor and the gardens of Eyrignac, the Eyzies, etc. And of course there are the world renowned gastronomy (foie gras, duck breast, pommes sarladaises – potatoes in the Sarlat fashion...) and the famous regional wines. You can also go down the Dordogne River in a boat or in a kayak, or even fly over the Black Périgord in an air-balloon...

Wonderful stay in a beautiful location

We loved the stay and we all enjoyed the location. Everyone was really helpful when we had any questions and the house was really lovely and we’ll suited to a large family group having separate bedroom areas each with their own bathroom facilities. The pool was great and the outdoor seating area was lovely for morning coffee and evening meals alike. The dark sky views were excellent here so too was the view of the balloons going overhead on a morning and evening. A fabulous holiday!

Beautiful house with a couple of issues

My family chose this home for our first visit to the Dordogne based on the location and size. We loved all of the room we had for 6. There are indeed 4 bedrooms with their own bathrooms plus an extra WC on the main floor. We were able to cook our meals but could not figure out the oven so did not use. We enjoyed the BBQ on 2 occasions and the kids used the pool every evening. The road leading to the house took some getting used to as it was a single lane and steep. We had a large van but if you had a smaller vehicle it would be much easier. The town was wonderful and we enjoyed canoeing as well as visiting local caves and chateau. On to the not so great. We arrived from the US after an overnight flight, cancelled train due to a strike and drive from Bordeaux to discover the house held no bed linens or towels for the bathroom or pool. There is no mention of having to provide your own linen in the advertisement. Although Mr Hubert has English listed as a language he speaks he only corresponded in French a language I do not speak. I was able to get through this with Google translate. His caretaker who met us at arrival spoke no English which was not a problem until we discovered the lack of linens/towels and did not know how we could call him and be understood. We had to purchase towels and slept wrapped in our sweaters. There were not even pillows on some of the beds. For this reason I can not give the house a higher rating.

Bonjour et merci pour votre appréciation dont j'apprécie la 1ère partie car elle correspond à la réalité. Par contre, je n'apprécie pas la seconde partie car: - la mention "apporter draps et taies d'oreiller +serviettes de toilette" figure en rouge et à 4 reprises dans la documentation que j'envoie systématiquement à tous les clients plusieurs jours avant leur arrivée. - je comprends et parle un peu l'anglais. Mais toute la correspondance s'étant faite par mail et en français, à aucun moment le client n'a signalé qu'il ne comprenait pas le français! - il y a 9 oreillers (1 par lit) et des couvertures dans les placards des chambres. Je regrette bien sûr les inconvénients subis par le client, provenant très certainement de l'incompréhension de notre langue. Malgré cela j'ai le sentiment que le séjour en lui même a été apprécié et que c'est ce souvenir qui rester gravé dans les mémoires.

séjour la Roque Gageac

Cette jolie maison périgourdine un peu atypique (deux maisons rassemblée en une) bénéficie d'un très bon emplacement dans le Périgord noir. La piscine est agréable et la climatisation dans les chambres du haut est appréciable par forte chaleur. A noter : le jardin n'est pas situé au niveau des pièces de vie principales (il est en contrebas), ce qui fait que nous n'en avons pas profité lors de notre séjour.

Magnifique sejour

Tres belle demeure dans un ecrin de verdure. Sans le moindre vis a vis-à-vis et loin des archétypes des locations aseptisées. Pleine de charme cette belle maison offre des prestations de qualite, favorisant une certaine independance, par la conception du jardin, l emplacement de la piscine et la distribution des chambres. Une situation exceptionnelle permettant la decouverte du Périgord Noir. Nois avons apprécié, les echanges avec le propriétaire et l accueil tres sympathique de Fanny responsable de la réception. Un havre de paix

Séjour réalisé en juillet 2023, une arrivée dans cette magnifique maison périgourdine avec un accueil chaleureux. La terrasse, la piscine,la plancha...tout est top pour passer des vacances de rêve. Havre de paix au centre du Périgord noir.

Au centre de nombreux sites historiques, à proximité de merveilles naturelles, dans l'eau pour se rafraîchir en cette période caniculaire et entouré de spécialités culinaires qui font les lettres de noblesse au Périgord, Lithodora nous a permis de passer de merveilleuses vacances. Les espaces sont idéaux pour vivre à 2 familles en permettant des moments conviviaux tout en ayant l'intimité nécessaire. Séjour ressourçant!!!

Wonderful Holiday

We booked this holiday a long while ago and have looked forward to it ever since and everything about the house exceeded our expectations. The house itself was beautiful and very well kept as was the swimming pool. The lady who met us on arrival, Fanny, was fantastic and made the check-in and check-out process really easy. Our party consisted of us two, our 4 adult children and 2 (under2 year old) grandchildren and the house suited all of us. Ideally situated close to La Roque-Gageac, Sarlat and various other attractions. We had a wonderful time, a holiday we will remember forever

It was a nice place. The lady who met us was great. The swimming pool was lovely. The only thing against were the beds. Very uncomfortable and the sheets weren't great.

Ideal, um mit einer Gruppe/Familie an der Dordogne einen Erholungs- und Kultururlaub zu machen!

Eine sehr schönes und stilvoll ansprechendes Feriendomizil! An dem sehr gepflegtem Garten sieht man, dass die Eigentümer Gartenfreunde sind! Sehr ruhige Lage im Wald, daher im September abends etwas feucht (man muss halt tagsüber lüften) , aber den ganzen Tag über genügend Sonneneinstrahlung und ausreichend Schattenplätze, wenn die Hitze zu gross wird! Ausreichend Schlafzimmer, Toiletten und Duschmöglichkeiten auch für eine große Familie! Sehr schöner Pool mit tollem Weitblick! Ein sehr feundlicher, sympatischer Verwalter kümmert sich um den Pool und eventuelle Probleme und sorgt für einen reibungslosen check-in und check-out! Eine freundliche Begrüßungskarte der Eigentümer sowie eine gekühlte Flasche Rosé sind uns sehr positiv aufgefallen! Im großen, gemütlichen Wohnzimmer ein guter TV mit sogar deutschen Programmen (für eventuelle Regentage) ! Super Gas-Grill an einer sonnengeschützten Terrasse! Ausreichend Parkplatz für mehrere Autos ist vorhanden! Viele Rückzugsmöglichkeiten in gemütlichen Zimmern und auf diversen Terrassen! Alles in Allem: wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und werden diese Haus sicher noch einmal mieten! Christoph u. Miriam

Superbe et authentique

Nous avons séjourné à deux familles. Les caractéristiques décrites sont en tout point exact à la réalité. Nous avons même été agreablement surpris par les prestations. Nous avions tout le nécessaire. Pour 9 personnes ,les commodités sont en conséquence. Enfants, ados et adultes ont apprécié la piscine spacieuse et pour les amoureux de bronzette et de lecture , ses abords sont propices à la detente. Concernant la situation géographique, la Roque Gageac, permet d'être proche de tous les centres d'intérêt du Perigord Noir, et à 10mn de la magnifique cité médiévale de Sarlat. Bref , nous connaissions déjà la Roque Gageac, et cette demeure familiale nous a permis de passer un excellent sejour avec nos amis. Nous esperons y retourner dans les annees à venir. Derniere chose.. non négligeable, la personne s'occupant de l'intendance de la demeure est même passée en milieu de semaine pour nettoyer la piscine. Vous l'aurez compris rien n'est laissé au hasard pour rendre votre sejour genial. Merci !!!!!

Habitation au calme, extérieur magnifique

L’emplacement est idéal pour être au calme, le village juste en dessous est magnifique, l’extérieur de la maison un petit paradis. La piscine est très agréable et grande (et bien sécurisée). L’intérieur est un peu moins à mon goût (manque de luminosité dans la cuisine et la salle à manger mais c’est le charme des maisons anciennes :) ), mais très propre et agréable à vivre.

Wunderbare Ferien an der Dordogne

Wir hatten zwei wunderbare Wochen. Das Haus lag für uns perfekt. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter verlief reibungslos und der Service vor Ort durch Allain war klasse. Es ist ein Haus in der Natur (also muss man auch mal mit einigen wenigen Ameisen oder einer Spinne rechnen). Wir würden immer wieder hinfahren.

Spacious, Rustic and a Delight

The site accurately describes a spacious, rustic and comfortable home in a forest setting. Ideal for a large group the home very comfortably accommodates 9 persons or in our case four adults and two great grandchildren. The pool area is a great asset and was enjoyed by all as was the outdoor BBQ and dining area. The house was very clean and Alain very helpful on our arrival. We were just a few minutes drive from essential shopping and major attractions. A lovely house in a beautiful setting. We would recommend this home for a comfortable stay with a group.

Super house overlooking Dordogne valley

We are a family of 5 and stayed 2 weeks. The house and particularly the garden and pool are wonderful. We had a relaxing time enjoying the pool and using the BBQ virtually every night. It was wonderful to have a drink a play boules in the gardens as hot air balloons flew over. There is some much to do nearby. We went canoeing twice, hired mountain bikes, visited Lascaux and the local chateaus as well as several trips into Sarlat-la-Canéda which is beautiful and vibrant. We would certainly return to Lithodora in the future
