Thank you for staying with us Sarah. We’re happy to hear you had a great vacation. Safe travels! Mahalo.
Amazing views, lovely decks to watch the rainbows over the water. Lots of room, comfortable temperatures with fans and everything you need for cooking. I loved seeing the geckos and listening to the birds.

This place was really beautiful! Had some issues with the electricity/water (no ones fault, just bad luck), but our host and the handyman for the property were very accommodating and tried everything they could to help us enjoy our stay!

Mahalo!
The pleasant and quiet home and area were a perfect retreat from the crowds at Merrie Monarch. We had perfect weather and the drive from Hilo was gorgeous. We enjoyed shopping for toffee and jam nearby. Thanks for sharing your place with us!

I’m so happy to hear your trip went well and we were able to provide value to you and your family. You’re welcome back anytime, Mahalo!
Excellent experience! Lived hearing all the wildlife. We got scared the last day because it rained and the uphill parking was very slippery, but luckily nothing bad happened. Great paradise find!
The location was perfect, no visible neighbors, views of the mountains and ocean at the same time. Quite. Just everything we asked for.

Thank you so much for your review! I’m thrilled to hear that the location was just what you were looking for. We love sharing this special spot with guests who appreciate it as much as we do. I hope we can welcome you back for another relaxing stay in the future!
We much enjoyed the views and our family dinners from the wrap around deck. The house has a middle of the rainforrest feel, yet is resonablt close to Hilo and various west coast activities with 2 outfitters aprox 2 miles away. We will missthe rainforrest sounds!

Glad to hear you guys enjoyed the property, you’re welcome back anytime, mahalo.
House was very unique and fun with the wrap around second level porch/lanai. House was clean, each of the three rooms had its own full bathroom w/ shower. Beds were large. View was amazing and you can hear the waterfall on the property. Check in/out was easy, good communication with the host. The description did not clearly state that the only stairway between the levels was outdoor therefore requires you to unlock the door by keypad when going from one level to the other. This was not a big issue, but was a bit of a surprise. With kids, it was more difficult to enjoy the second level living area while they were in bed. The drive up to the house may require 4-wheel drive because it is steep and was raining during our stay. Was no issue for the rental Jeep Wrangler, but may be for a FWD car. The fruit stand on the way in was great and the coffee and shave ice place in the small town was amazing (check their hours). And the 'Akaka Falls are a short drive away and worth the visit.

Thank you for the kind words! We'd love to host to you again, you guys were great guests. I'm sorry you were surprised by our staircase, we have provided photos of every area of the house to be as transparent with guests as possible. And I completely understand your concern about the slope of the driveway (Believe me, we're from Houston, there's barely any hills), however, we've never had any issues with it before and recently had redone excavation and concrete work on it. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed all the amenities in and around the house! We think location is one of the best features of our property. Your welcome back anytime! Mahalo
Although our schedule only allowed us to stay for one night, I wish we were able to stay longer! The views from both floors of the property was amazing. There was a private waterfall on the property and the hike to it was so cool! I loved stargazing at night - I've never seen the sky so dark - we could even see the entire Milky Way! And sleeping at night to the sounds of the nature made it feel like we were in the middle of a jungle. The house was a great set-up with the wrap-around deck. Well stocked and had everything we needed. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Thank you for the wonderful review! It’s great to hear the house had everything you needed. We’d love to host you again for a longer stay next time!
The house is amazing! It is tastefully furnished, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen is very well equipped. The absolute highlight is the porch, where we were waving breakfast and dinner and gather in the lounge chairs, even when it was raining. The sounds of the rainforests, the frogs and birds are exotic and fascinating! This was one of the most extraordinary places we ever rented and we would recommend it to everyone who wants to indulge in Hawaian atmosphere and landscape. Chris is a very helpful host, easy to reach, flexible and supportive.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I’m thrilled that you had such a memorable stay and that the house met all your expectations. It’s great to hear you enjoyed the porch—there’s something magical about dining and relaxing out there, especially with the sounds of the rainforest all around. I’m glad the kitchen had everything you needed and that you found the atmosphere as special as we do. It was a pleasure hosting you, and I’m always here to help. Thanks again for your kind words and for recommending our place. I hope you’ll come back to experience more of that Hawaiian magic!
We really enjoyed our stay in Honomu. The home is comfortable and well appointed. Sitting on the second floor balcony and enjoying the forest scenery as well as the ocean in the distance was a highlight. The cool air was refreshing and kept the home a comfortable temperature. We appreciated having laundry facilities available and used the kitchen daily. The day geckos were fun to watch scurrying around. At night, the coqui frogs were quite vocal. If the windows are open, one may want to use ear plugs. The sound only bothered one of the four in our group, and the rest thought it was delightful. We used the location as a home base to visit Hilo, nearby waterfalls, beaches, and the local zoo. The Hamakua Toffee shop is not to be missed. While the home is a bit off of the beaten track, that is a big part of its charm. It was a relaxing place to get away.

Michelle you write beautifully! Thank you so much for the review and for being great guests. We’d love to have you back anytime, mahalo!
Amazing property with great views. We loved sitting on the 2nd floor deck and listening to the birds. We had been given an AWD suv with poor tread on the front tires and it was not able to make it up the driveway. The driveway has a pretty good slope and a significant amount of moss on the ground. The day we arrived our car hit the moss and the tires started spinning. Again, I'm not saying this was all due to the driveway. Long story short, the car was stuck on the driveway and the rental company came and switched out the car with a car with good tires and 4x4. We had not issues after that. If we come back to the island we would definitely stay here again but would make sure to have 4x4 just for our own comfort.

Thank you for the review Brad! Hanging out on the deck is one of our favorite things to do at the house. Making the driveway more convenient to drive up is a top priority for us so we appreciate your communication. You’re welcomed back anytime, mahalo!
We loved our stay at this magical place. The circular design was so interesting, and the 360-degree deck provided spectacular views of the surrounding jungle and even the ocean in the distance. The house sits on several acres and has trees all around, so it feels very secluded. We could hear the birds and other animal sounds at night that made it seem like we were in a jungle. The two bedrooms downstairs are spacious and have their own attached bathrooms. The upstairs bedroom is pretty tiny, but opens into the main living room and kitchen area, so each has its perks. I love the beautiful cedar and redwood construction. The washer and dryer worked great, and we used the grill to make stakes one night. The driveway is very steep. Our minivan made it up without any problem, but it can be slippery if you walk down it. We walked a little ways to the little waterfall on the property. It had rained, so the path was muddy and we had to push some brush aside to get through, but that was fun.I loved eating breakfast on the upper deck while looking out over the gorgeous views in the mornings. So nice!

Aloha Randy, thank you so much for the review, we’re glad ya’ll got to enjoy all the features of the property. Come back anytime, mahalo!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed coming back to this home each night after exploring the island. The location private and great for walking to Akaka Falls and the little fruit stand. The house felt spacious and comfortable. It was clear the house was built with care as my husband commented on how well done the construction appeared. We had everything we needed in terms of kitchen items, soap supplies, laundry facilities, etc. We had a couple geckos that would come and go upstairs once in a while, but they were comical to watch. It was a great location to explore both North and South ends of the island for day trips. Hilo was an easy drive away for supplies and Honumu offered a couple close by shops including The Hive where we got delicious sandwiches. Overall I would recommend this property and stay here again.
