The house overall was great. Great location, we loved the canoes and life jackets. The rooms in the basement were a bit scary at first. There is not bathroom in the basement so you have to walk outside to the outdoor bathroom if you have to go at night. As expected in Hawaii, there are mosquitos and geckos, but nothing excessive. We enjoyed our stay and had no issues.
The house worked out perfect for our group- we came for work, working with the local schools.

No host met me just the cleaning lady. It was okay but we are older people I wouldn't reccomend older people that have hard time going up to second floor. Very dangerous in falling. Also we saw someone probably a homeless person taking a shower on the outside bathroom
Location was great, kids loved fish pond house, great access to cove, so fun snorkeling from backyard to see a sea turtle, kayaking also from backyard delightful. Appreciated having the kayaks and life vests available. Had other family staying in nearby hotel, but joined for family meals on top outdoor deck. So perfect. Lovely time, would stay here again on next visit!

Thanks Susan, glad you had a good time. The tsunami came after your stay and made some mess but deposited a whole new population of sealife in our pond. Very colorful. See again hopefully. Aloha. Richard
My family loved the bay access! Saw turtles in the bay. The home does have a lot of road noise as it's on a main road and a shipping factory in front of it, but still very enjoyable! Great check in and out
Very beautiful home and so much space to accommodate a large family. Host was very responsive and easy to communicate with. I would recommend this home to a large family because it is very spacious and close to so many amenitites.

If you like to wake up and paddle, this place is ideal. My teens loved the access to kayaks and made the most of paddling every morning before we set out to find more adventure. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We loved our time here. We enjoyed the ice pond and kayaking and paddle boarding. We walked to coconut island everyday and enjoyed the nature around us. The air conditioner was a huge help to keep us cool at night. Would def stay there again.
Traveler do your research and read through the reviews of other travelers. Pros- Being right on the water was great and walking distance to restaurants and parks was nice. The coffee food truck two doors away made for a great way to start the day.Downtown Hilo was just a short few minute drive to more shops and farmers market.Beds were comfortable not sure about the 2 downstairs (read comment below)Great Koi pond.Cons-House is 5 bedroom, but 2 of them are below the house. You have to exit the house to go downstairs to the other rooms. If you need to go to the restroom you have to walk back outside and upstairs. We were a family with 6 (3 kids) and needed the extra rooms, but because of the situation of the 2 bedrooms they were to scared to stay down there. (So they slept on the floor)House is on the main road (which we already knew) does bring lots of road noise, but sit on the back patio and enjoy the view. House is older (1930s) and has lots of old charm, but could use some much needed TLC to bring back more of that charm. Words of advice to future travelers. If you are looking for newer updated appliances, beds, furniture, cleanliness this house unfortunately misses the mark. If you are looking for a house with lots of room, great back patio and walking distance to a variety of activities, then this house checks that box.We did enjoy our vacation as our son graduated high school in Hawaii as for the reason of our visit, but unfortunately wouldn't book again.
Born and raised here on the island and this home was perfect for our visit. The pond entrance and gate to the park directly behind the home helped to keep my kids and infant happy while my wife worked. Only good things to say about this vacation rental. Next visit we’ll definitely be staying here.
House was great. Location was amazing. Right on the bay. We were able to enjoy the fish birds and turtles. The toys in the boathouse were great and accommodated my family. Beds were comfy and water was hot. We throughly enjoyed our time here.
