Beautiful unique Home away from home!

This 1300-square-foot cottage is centrally located within the beautiful town of Kanab, Utah. We are proud to offer our unique home for consideration during your stay. Hand-laid rock, an array of Geodes, polished rock, petrified wood, sandstone, and fossils make The Rock Cottage a one-of-a-kind home.

The Rock Cottage sleeps up to six comfortably.

The living room contains a queen-size futon sofa, and our gas stove fireplace will keep you warm on a cold winter evening. Pine-log furniture and hickory hardwood floors throughout add to the warm and cozy atmosphere. The cottage is complete with TV/DVD and satellite television.

Our inviting kitchen makes you feel at home, being fully equipped with all the plates, cups, and cooking utensils that you will need for your stay.

'It is a great place to stay - first-class accommodations and close to everything - Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon' -Jon from Colorado.

The Rock Cottage is your home away from home in Kanab, Utah is strategically the most central point from which to base, as you explore the world-class scenery found in southern Utah and northern Arizona. When you stay in Kanab you are in the geographic center of Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Lake Powell (Glen Canyon), and the Grand Canyon North Rim. There just is not a better place to stay! Many people come to this area and stay for one or more weeks just to see and experience this region. A hotel just is not sufficient when you can have the comforts of our beautiful Rock Cottage.

Kanab, Utah is well known as a center for many of the western movies created since the 1940s. In fact over 100 Westerns have been made in the Kanab region. Not only will you enjoy seeing Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Lake Powell (Glen Canyon), and the Grand Canyon North Rim, but you also enjoy the following other attractions:
* The Parks... Pipe Spring National Monument, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and Kaibab National Forest
* The Attractions... Paria Movie Set and Ghost Town, Frontier Movie Town, Denny’s Wigwam, Western Village Shops, Paria Wilderness Area (Slot Canyons), Gunsmoke Movie Set

• Upon confirmation of your reservation request, you will be billed in advance to your credit card a 25% deposit.
• Reservations are not guaranteed until payment has been successfully processed.
• A 3 night minimum is required for advanced reservations beyond 30 days.
• Check In: After 3:00 p.m. / Check Out: 11:00 a.m.
• Smoking Policy: No Smoking indoors, please. Proper containers will be provided outside.
• Cancellation Policy: You will be refunded 90% of your deposit if cancellation occurs 30 days prior to check-in date. If cancellation occurs with less than 30 days notice then the deposit will be non-refundable but may be applied to other available dates.
• Pets are not allowed at The Rock Cottage.

Very unique house.

The house was very unique with rocks all over the exterior of the home and the backyard patio. If you are into rock collecting this is the place for you. The interior is well maintained and very clean. The hosts were great. I would highly recommend this home.

Wonderful place. Unique stone structure with various stone inside and out. House was very comfortable and well stocked. King size bed in Main bedroom was great. Location is perfect for exploring SW Utah. Owner was very accessible. As a bonus, there was a hummingbird nesting in backyard.

Excellent choice for my granddaughter and me

The Rock Cottage was an excellent choice for a trip to Kanab for my granddaughter and myself - we could each have our own room, but shared a two-sink bathroom (shower could be separated). The kitchen was fully equipped and even had condiments and spices - ideal when you're only staying a few days but still want to cook. Be aware that the TV is old tube-style and we never could get it to work. I'm sure techie guys could have, though. Please also be aware that if you're in Kanab to volunteer at Best Friends, you'll want to find another, pet-friendly place to stay so that you'll be able to do a dog or cat 'sleepover'. We had a great meal at the Rocking V Cafe in town, and very decent Mexican food at Escobar.

Fantastic, comfortable, great location

My husband and I stayed in the Rock Cottage with my sister in law and her husband. We traveled to Zion, Escalante, Bryce Canyon, Page and St. George. The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated. Everyone slept great! The single bathroom was divided and worked great for 4 people. The kitchen is fully stocked with more amenities than we have ever had at a vrbo, which was great because we cooked all our meals. We also made use of the washer and dryer. The view is amazing of the cliffs. There is a variety of gas stations and grocery stores that are reasonably priced within 5 minutes. Being in town, the area is surprisingly dark and quiet. We were also able to park in the garage which was nice. I called Joann the first day about some minor issues and they were handled that day! We really enjoyed the variety of rocks everywhere and the blossoming trees. Overall an incredible stay. It felt like home for sure.

The Rock Cottage was simply perfect

We just returned home from our stay at the Rock Cottage. We couldn't be more pleased. The place was spotless. The kitchen and bath facilities were were first rate and so well equipped. We immediately felt at home. We even had a garage for our rental car. Staying there was a great part of our Kanab vacation.

We stayed for four nights and the Rock Cottage was our perfect home away from home. It had everything we needed for the utmost in comfort and every age group in our family was happy. Joanne even came out immediately to help us figure out the lock. We will certainly stay here again for our next trip to Kanab!

We stayed for 3 nights at the Rock Cottage and as soon as we stepped in the door we felt at home. The house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. This is probably one of the nicest vacation home rentals we have stayed in. The bed is very comfortable, the log cabin style furniture is very cozy and comfortable. The kitchen has tons of room for preparing meals and the bathroom is very spacious and well laid out (the soaker tub is great!). JoAnn obviously took great care in planning what people would need for a memorable stay in this area. The house has many added touches that you would not see in vacation rentals. We felt like we were staying with family... without the family there!! The house is close to the attractions that we wanted to see. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Rock Cottage to anyone.

Simply Beautiful!!!

My friends and I were looking for a place to stay in Kanab and long story short we were connected with JoAnn, the property owner and what a blessing that was. JoAnn was very kind and helpful and so accommodating to us we will forever be grateful to her and her husband. The house was PERFECT. All amenities you need, the decor is spectacular and very well put together. The house has a cozy feeling to it with a beautiful view right outside...we wish we had more time in Kanab. The location is close to everything you need, good food, lots of site-seeing locations...can't say enough. We loved it and we'll be back without a doubt. Thanks.

Great 50th Birthday Week Away!!!

My brother, sister-in-law, wife and I rented the Rock Cottage for a week in Sept 2008 to celebrate my 50th birthday and had a fabulous time here! The cottage is amazing with a perfect location for wandering into town for morning coffee or eating at the Rockin' V (at least twice). We had a few great backyard cookouts also during our week long stay. Our favorite part of the day was early evening having pre-dinner drinks out in the yard watching the sunset and blazing colors coming off the cliffs north of town. The street is very quiet with close proximity to Squaw Trail for a nice in-town hike up to a great overlook. Everything was very clean and comfortable in the Rock Cottage. Also, JoAnn was great to work with and flexible when we had to switch our week a month before arrival. Beside being an obvious great location for visiting National Parks don't forget about the Grand Staircase Monument area just east of Kanab. There is unbelievable hiking in the vast area in the Monument in the Paria River/Hackberry Canyon area and of course the "Wave" near Coyote Buttes (we lucked out and won the a hiking permit lottery to get to see this). I've been coming up to Southern Utah every 2-3 years for 25 years now and this is my favorite area in all the Southwest US.

We've lived in Kanab for about 16 years, my husband was born and raised here. We have 7 kids and we love Kanab, and the surrounding area. We also love to share it with others, so we started renting The Rock Cottage in 2003. We have also have a TownHome available for vacation rental.

Kanab is beautiful, and is surrounded by beautiful National Parks, and National Monuments. There is so much to see and do. We love the area and we love to share our corner of the world with others!
