About this property

Private Oasis on Canal with Dock

Indoor-outdoor living at it's best. Light and airy. Perfectly situated in a quiet neighborhood, with close proximity to shopping, schools, restaurants, and I-75.

The house sits on a double-wide lot with large elk trees, palms, and lush landscaping. Very private. The most stunning feature is the oversized screened lanai with couch, bar, flat screen TV, two wine refrigerators', and gas firepit. The lanai also features a large wrought-iron dining table and chairs, with seating for 6-8 guests.

Triple pocket sliders in the living room open to the lanai and large private backyard, on the water with dock seating. High top gas firepit in the yard. Kayaks and fishing gear provided. Plenty of lawn space for croquet, bocce ball, and corn hole (also provided).

The home offers a split living arrangement, with the living room and master bedroom/bathroom on one side, and one guest bedroom, full bath, and family room on the other side.

The living room with 80" flat-screen TV, large kitchen, breakfast nook, and dining room with high top table and seating for 6-8, separate the two sides of the house. The kitchen features a desk with computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The master bedroom has pocket sliders that open to the lanai, as does the family room, with it's own 75" flat screen TV, leather couch, and two leather chairs.

The home is fully stocked with towels, dishes, cookware, and appliances, including Espresso machine, toaster, blender, and air fryer. The laundry room is equipped with front load washer and dryer.

High speed Wi-Fi inside and outside.

Note: The garage and third bedroom/office is NOT accessible. Plenty of parking in the driveway and street out front.

Quiet and Private Location

We live locally and needed a place to stay while our home was been renovated. This house was perfect, and we enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely and there is a nice deck on the canal to sit and relax on. We will definitely stay again when we have more work done in our home.

Location, comfort, and extras…this beautiful home had it all. Mike was an excellent host. The home is a short drive to stores, but tucked back in a very quiet neighborhood on a beautiful lot. Lanai, kayaks, yard, totally equipped kitchen, laundry, comfortable furniture…it was everything I hoped for and more!

My wife and I very much enjoyed relaxing and getting away from it all and seeing some of the sites around Northport and Venice Beach. Mike was a fantastic host and the house is such a great retreat. We very much loved the screened in backyard. The openness of the home is amazing and all the little touches were very high end and classy. Would love to come back.

Wonderful get away

The property is beautiful, with plenty of room to hang out and a huge kitchen too cook in. The outside area is great for gatherings and hanging out all day and has 2 fire pits to enjoy at night. A great vacation for family or friends. Communication with Mike, the owner, was always easy and he responded to issues and questions right away. We will definitely be back to stay again.

Wonderful in Every Way!

From check in to check out, this lovely house checks all the boxes. Location, cleanliness, decor, comfort and a responsive host. We enjoyed our time at this gem making use of the spacious lanai, beautiful yard with deck overlooking the canal. The quiet neighborhood is gives it a park like setting. The house is well appointed and beautifully designed. We were close to all shopping and convenience needs. Book this place, you won’t be disappointed!

We held our small wedding reception here with family and friends and it was a beautiful place to have it! The lanai is a great place to relax and there is plenty of space with a lot of amenities including a TV, couch, fireplaces, and comfy chairs. Mike is a great host and communicates in a timely manner to answer any questions you have! We were very thrilled with how nice the place was.

Lovely home in North Port

We loved staying in Northport! Mike has the house supplied with everything you could possibly want, plus he left us fresh flowers on the counter! The enormous screened in porch was incredible, the neighborhood was quiet and safe, the yard was beautiful, and the beds were comfortable. There were lots of shopping and dining options nearby, and Venice Beach is about a 20-30 minute drive. We would certainly come back and stay again!

We enjoyed our stay at this rental and would rent again if available on our next trip. We enjoyed the large lanai for our morning coffee and in the evenings for relaxing. We visited friends that live in North Port and this was a great location from our friends less than 10 minutes away. Area is quiet. The owner was very responsive and let us change our date because of a family death with no issues. We all highly recommend this rental!

great space

Enjoyed our stay and felt more at-home here than any VRBO in quite a while. The owner has created several unique spaces both inside and out to hang out in. There is a water cooler for fresh, cold water which felt like an added luxury (especially for those who aren't used to Florida water). I don't see it in the pictures - but there is a grill, too. Unfortunately, we were there mid-week and there was home construction across the canal with hammering, power tools, radio. We were gone all day and by the time we returned each afternoon, all was quiet. The neighborhood was fairly quiet in the evenings. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful Home

My friend and I had a girls weekend getaway and Mike’s home was absolutely perfect. I first have to say Mike was the best host. He always got back to me super fast any time I had any questions. The home is so spacious and beautiful. My friend brought along her dog and he enjoyed the big yard and chasing squirrels. So he had fun as well. It’s in a perfect location, very close to Cocoplum Village Shops. Which is what we wanted to do was Christmas shop. Then after long days of shopping it was so nice to come back & sit outside by the fire pit. The neighborhood is very nice and quiet. Which made the whole experience of sitting outside very peaceful. The mornings were nice to have coffee sitting on the dock & listen to the birds. It was absolutely the most comfortable place I have stayed at. We hated to leave. But we will definitely make Mike’s place our go to place to stay the next time we have another girls weekend getaway. Thank You Mike!

I'm your host, Mike O'Donnell. My father and I purchased the house in 2021 as our full-time residence. It had been neglected for years and was a pretty sore sight. We had a blast renovating the place and turning it into a beautiful home. It was a labor of love for the better part of two years.

Throughout his life, my dad had the reputation of having the best lawn in the neighborhood. This house was his masterpiece. He truly loved this spot. It would be his last home and the one he was most proudest of. He passed away peacefully in Hospice in December 2023. I feel fortunate to have spent his final years with him working on the home. I suppose it will probably be my last home as well.

I am traveling these days to spend more time with my kids and grandkids. We have had a lot of wonderful family gatherings here and hope to have many more in the years ahead. I hope you will take good care of the place when I'm away and enjoy it as much as I do! Make some memories of your own. Nothing would have pleased my dad more.

It seems like the house is tucked away in a remote corner of Northport, but it's only 9 minutes to city center, Publix, and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

Open floor plan. High ceilings. Tranquil setting. Lot's of privacy!

The wild life around the house is amazing -- and active. The lot to the left of the house is a protected space which is home to large burrowing tortoises. They will come into the yard to stretch on occasion. Birds flock to the feeders in the backyard. Blue heron and egrets love to perch on the dock rails. The tall pine tree in the back is host to large hawks.

Squirrels and rabbits love to frolic outback. On occasion you might spot a family of small bob cats first thing in the morning. They are shy; they only go by if you're indoors. On sunny days you can catch alligators swimming by the dock. They love to sun themselves on the shore across the canal.
