Cozy Lakefront Property on Big Lake with Private Wharf
In 1948, Norman & Elsie Beadle closed a deal with the Hebert family on a small patch of land in the Hebert Summer Place subdivision south of Lake Charles, LA. They built a one-room camp named ItSuitsUs that withstood Hurricane Audrey (although it floated off the foundation blocks and swung around tethered by the power line) for fishing and duck hunting. In the 1980’s, the one room camp passed to my father & mother. Following the near destruction of the camp by Hurricane Rita in 2005, the camp was passed on to myself and my wife, Marci. We built the new camp up from a bare lot with our own hands and the help of family and anyone we could tempt out to the site with Marci’s home cooking and the adventure of continuing the legacy of ItSuitsUs.
In 2007 Marci and I rechristened the camp ItSuitsUs II and opened it to our family and friends for a traditional Fourth of July celebration. Now in 2024, we want to share the camp in its 75th year with your family.
ItSuitsUs II has been recently updated following the ravages of Hurricane Laura - new floors, new siding, fresh paint, and lovely kitchen counters. She is all dolled up for you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The kiddos had a blast as well. The camp is in a wonderful location and is full of amenities. We would definitely love to stay again in the future.
I've stayed at this place multiple times and it's never let me down! Always first class location and amenities... There is nothing better at Hebert's Landing.
The property was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything you could need to cook. We loved the outdoor seating area and the dock. The fact that it is pet friendly was a huge bonus.
35 yrs ago we had a camp at Herbert’s. After we moved it was destroyed by Hurricane. It was so nice to be back on Big Lake. Very nice cabin in great location. Great family spot. Thoroughly enjoyed. Very well kept and spotless!
Great property and location to the harbor. Peaceful area and beautiful sunsets. The camp was perfect for our family and our fishing adventures on the lake. The host was very helpful in changing dates and accommodating us on a few things. We really enjoyed our stay and the camp has everything you need to have a good time, cookout and relax. Thank yall.

This was our second stay, and once again, it did not disappoint! The house is in the perfect location for Lake Calcasieu, making it our go-to rental. It’s well-maintained, clean, and has everything we need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

We're thrilled you enjoyed your stay! We eagerly await your return.
Very unique waterfront property that makes you feel like home at the camp. Accessible boat dock for fishing and crabbing. Caught a bunch of crab, fishing was pretty slow due to the weather. Very peaceful and quiet community. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your kind words! We can’t wait to welcome you back.
This property is really top notch. It is obvious that this is the owner’s private retreat and not a barebones property only for rentals. If you want to fish this area and have great accommodations, then this is a very solid choice.

Thank you William. We are very happy to hear you loved her as much as we do and would love to welcome you back someday.
The property has everything my family needed for a great weekend. The home is clean and loaded with too many personal touches to mention. My four year old granddaughter caught fish and crabs from the private pier and entertained herself with the multitude of arts and crafts available inside the camp home. My older children (in their 30s and 40s) utilized the boat lift to conveniently launch and retrieve their boat for daylight and evening excursions. We will definitely return!

"We are glad to hear that you and your family enjoyed your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future."
words can’t express how amazing this place and Mrs. Marci is! She was quick to respond to any questions i had and even had a binder in the house with notes and helpful ideas for the area! We caught a few good red fish, a few large gar fish and gas tops! Most of all following a hard end of the year last year and busy start to this year, this was just the reset we needed. The house is comfortable and relaxing and the property quiet and our little family had loads of fun! Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us! We hope to be back soon!
From beginning to end, this was a great experience! Our host, Marci, was very attentive and responsive to any questions. Booking and check in were extremely easy. The property itself was absolutely wonderful and better than we could have expected. It was clean and It had a great feel to it. It was decorated lake style, which definitely enhanced our experience. You could just feel the love and good times had there. The setup was great and everything we possibly needed was there. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep and the two bathrooms upstairs and half bath downstairs made it very nice. We booked this property for a family weekend. We were were five adults and two kids, 10 & 14. We could fish off the wharf or put our boat down at the dock, which was right next to the property. We boiled crawfish and ate at the large table under the camp. We played cornhole and connect four (they had the large outdoor one). We all had a great time and will definitely go back. If you bring a boat, DO NOT leave it in the water overnight. Pick it up and launch it each day. You just never know what the water will do.
