About this property

Shangri-La on Lake Superior - Incredible Lake Views, Pure White Sand Beach

Your unique home on Lake Superior is situated on a dune running straight up from the beach. It has an unrivaled spectacular 180 degree view of mighty Lake Superior to the north, with Marquette on the western end of the shoreline and Shot Point on the eastern end of the shoreline.

Your home has a lakeside primary bedroom with a king size bed, a second bedroom with bunk beds and a washer and dryer, and a four-seasons room with a full bed, futon bed, picnic table and a striking view of Lake Superior.

Your comfortable and inviting living room has two couches, chairs, a gas fireplace, a large dining table, and three large windows directly overlooking pine trees, shore and surf. The largest picture window has a magnificent direct northern view of Lake Superior in all its placid beauty or wind blown fury.

Your home has a full kitchen with all the cooking equipment, serving dishes and utensils that you should need, which includes a standard top-freezer refrigerator, an electric stove top and oven, a microwave, and a coffee machine.

There is one full bath with a shower and a long tub.

Your home is provided with digital cable, internet and WiFi access for your convenience and enjoyment.

Watch the numerous comings and goings of bald eagles and ore boats from inside the living room, sitting in the front yard, or down on the beach.

Enjoy direct access to the beach for swimming, beach fires, beach walks and sunsets. You can bring your own canoes and kayaks and carry them down to the beach.

Grill your dinner on the barbecue outside and choose between eating on an outdoor table in the front yard, a picnic table in the four-seasons room, or the dining room table in the living room.

Enjoy an evening swim and then sit around a warm beach fire while watching the ever-changing colors of the evening sunset. The lights of Marquette will soon start to glimmer. Look up into the night sky and be amazed at the number of stars and the amount of the Milky Way you can see.

Your house and beach is many miles away from any source of light pollution and the darkness of the night combined with the 180 degree viewpoint of the sky looking north over Lake Superior provides a spectacular star gazing feast for the senses.

Watch for meteors, satellites and the International Space Station overhead. Keep watch at night over Lake Superior to the north for occasional incredible displays of Northern Lights (also known as the Aurora Borealis). Track the moon and planetary schedules for additional astronomical treats. (Sometimes a new moon will rise in the middle of the night over Shot Point to the east and appear as a crimson sliver in the late night sky.) Marvel at the occasional night displays of brilliant lightning above mighty Lake Superior.

Your house is conveniently located right on Michigan State Highway M-28 East, 10 miles east of Marquette. The Ojibway Casino is less than a mile west on M-28, and the Northern Michigan University Golf Course is less than 3 miles west on M-28.

Take advantage of the extensive Marquette and Upper Peninsula trail systems and nearby access to the Kawbawgam Cross Country Ski Trail just across M-28 to the south. Visit the Marquette Mountain Ski and Bike Area, which has three chair lifts for downhill skiing.

The city of Marquette (pop. 17,000) is conveniently located 10 miles away. Explore the vibrant nightlife in historic downtown Marquette generated by summer tourism, Northern Michigan University students and the friendly locals. There are many restaurants and bars within walking distance of each other that feature good food, interesting locations, and friendly meeting places.

The Marquette area of Michigan's Upper Peninsula provides visitors with access to every imaginable outdoor activity. You can enjoy fishing, boating, biking, hiking, swimming and both downhill and cross country skiing in addition to many other local events and pastimes.

Visit the Marquette Maritime Museum, climb Sugarloaf Mountain, swim at Black Rocks on Presque Isle Park, enjoy Lakenenland sculpture park, or go kayaking or sailing.

Return to your home on Lake Superior after a full day of activity to relax and enjoy quiet and peaceful Lake Superior living - the simple life of beautiful ever-changing colors in the sky above the majesty of the largest of the Great Lakes.

Find your home at Shangri-La and start making your own special memories of the Upper Peninsula and mighty Lake Superior at this stunningly beautiful, peaceful and private location.
