Dirty, lacking basics

Contacted the owner several days prior about early check in, which he didn’t think would be issue. Also, we never received check in instructions via the VRBO app. When we arrived around 1:30 pm, the house had not been cleaned. Fine, these things happen, so we dropped off our luggage and came back at 4pm. The floor had not been swept, nor the rugs vacuumed. Visible debris on floor. Dead bugs on windowsills. House itself is nice but the owner skimped on details and upkeep. Kitchen short of dishes and cups. There were enough plates, but only 3 bowls, 3 juice glasses, 4 mugs, and 2 other glass mugs, 1 of which was cracked and not usable. There were no kitchen trash bags other than what was in the trash can. Each bathroom had only 1/3 roll of toilet paper, no other rolls, no soap for the shower. Tap water here is not drinkable so a water dispenser is in the kitchen for potable water. It is attached to a 5 gal jug that was empty when we arrived. When we messaged the owner, we were told to go fill up the jug at a transfer station a 10 min drive away. Not what we planned to do on vacation. Curtains on bent pressure fit rods in bedrooms that easily fall down. Window in one of the bedrooms doesn’t lock and ceiling fan unbalanced and noisy. Advertised as housing six, and it does sleep six, but there is only seating on the sofa for 4, 5 if you squeeze. The dining table is a cozy 4 seater only. We were a family of 4 so we were okay, but wanted to mention. Really disappointing stay.

Quiet neighborhood

The downstairs unit of a house was perfect. There are 2 houses on the property- a total of 4 units. It is about 2 miles off the main road. Clean and mostly new.
