Great place to stay with a large family. House was great in everyway. Kitchen was well equipped and the kids loved the media room. Only draw back is it’s a public beach, so if you’re staying for the weekend, I would recommend getting to the beach by 9 to secure you a place in front of the house. Would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here for a vacation with 40 people. We never felt crowded. The house is nice and access to the beach is just steps away. We really enjoyed our stay. Would book again
The house was perfect for our large family. It has a well stocked kitchen & plenty of room for everyone to sit down for meals. The beds were comfortable and has a nice layout. Beach access was great. Plenty of parking space.
This beach mansion was absolutely perfect for our family reunion!Every bedroom having its own bathroom was such a game-changer—it made getting ready a breeze for our big group. The host was excellent with communication and made everything easy from start to finish. The kitchen was spacious and fully stocked with everything we needed—pots, pans, knives, and more—which made cooking our family meals together a joy.The beach access couldn’t have been better—there’s a bridge with ramps on both sides just steps from the back of the house, making it super convenient for everyone. Best of all, the kids (from toddlers to teens) had an amazing time!We made so many great memories here and would absolutely stay again.
It was the perfect spot for our large family!! Loved the access to beach and being right on the water and the beach not being crowded. We literally had it to ourselves! Also all the bedrooms have a bathroom which is a HUGE bonus!
This property was excellent for our family reunion. It was very spacious and fully equipped. Everyone had their own bathroom which was an added benefit. There are no neighbors so we were able to enjoy to the fullest. Everyone has agreed that we will rent this property again.
We had a wonderful stay at this beach house. The property was stunning, beautifully designed, and ideally located. Our large family fit comfortably without any problems. The host was excellent too. We're thinking about making this a regular getaway spot.
We absolutely loved The Anchor! The house is massive with plenty of rooms and bathrooms. The beds were divine. There was enough table space for 25 people to work on projects. The view of the ocean and bay are spectacular! The boardwalk made accessing the beach easy for long walks on the beach. The beach house is private with no other homes close by. Even though we had a few hiccups, Andrew addressed any issue. This is our new favorite retreat home. We can’t wait to come again next year!

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
This was a fantastic house for a week at the beach with a large family. There were 35 of us and the proximity to the beach was unmatched. The theater room was an amazing hideout for the kids/teens and it was so nice to have an actual bed for everyone in our group. Almost every bedroom had its own bathroom as well, which really helped.A couple things that could use improvement: First, the kitchen is not properly stocked for a group this size. There were only 8 dinner and 8 salad plates. The quantity of utensils and cups was similar. Also, there is only one bath towel per person with no extras to be found anywhere. The seating area in the living room only contains a sofa, love seat, and a chair, so it was difficult for the entire family to gather in that location. Finally, there was a big problem with ants everywhere. The house needs a deep cleaning, not just a "straighten things up" cleaning.Overall, this was a great find!
Awesome place to stay and the beach access is great. The only downside is the beds can be better also some stuff is not working perfectly such as the kitchen vent, and the bathroom sink are leaking water a little don’t think it was properly sealed. But over all have an awesome experience and will recommend to other
Beautiful spacious space for big family gathering (32 total)
We had a truly enjoyable stay, the home is impressively spacious, and we especially loved that each room had its own private bathroom. The large kitchen was ideal for our group, offering a lot of seating for meals and gatherings. The layout is fantastic for our families. Walking path to the beach. That said, there were a few areas that could use some attention. Upon arrival, we felt the downstairs floors were sandy and we vacuumed it. There were also cheese smudges on some cabinets, and drawers. The housekeeper was still finishing up around 5 p.m., bless her heart, she was doing her best! While the home itself is beautiful, a deep cleaning and a few maintenance updates would make a big difference:• Several toilets had noticeable rings around the base and urine smell.• Toaster: right side not functioning - need replacement.• Dishwasher: left door doesn’t close properly, we did not use.• Minor wall damage: holes behind doors from doorknobs• Jack and Jill bathroom: right sink drains very slowly• Rust came from some bathrooms shower-heads. Note: charcoal grills not propane.Despite these issues, we truly enjoyed our time here and see tremendous potential in this property. With a little extra care, it could be absolutely perfect!
The home was just as described. It fit our large group of moms & daughters perfectly & we never felt crowded. The beach was beautiful & it felt secluded which was nice. Plenty of parking & the home was clean. I would definitely stay here again.
The layout of this house was perfect for our group with plenty of space for 12 adults and 11 children! The beach access and deck made spending time outside so easy and enjoyable!
My team a I had an amazing company trip, we loved that each of the rooms have a bathroom, since all of us like to cook, the kitchen was a dream. The house overall , immaculate and beautiful.
The property was great for a work group on a retreat.
There were 12 of us and all had their own bathrooms and private space. The main living area and kitchen were a great space for meetings.
Had a wonderful time at the Anchor! The space was perfect for our needs with soooo much room for everyone to hang out - from the spacious dining tables where we played board games, the living space with ample sofa seating for gathering around a puzzle, the theatre room for a more secluded, private experience, the amazing patio space, the balcony on the second floor, and to the gaming nook. It also has direct access to the beach, split off from many of the other beach houses so there's a more private feel to it. The bedrooms were cozy, clean, and modern, and the amount of bathrooms was so great for our group. The only thing I'd caution people with is that Google Maps didn't do a good job of directing me to the actual location when I typed in the address. You may have to search "The Anchor" along with the physical address to find the right spot!
Pros: the property sits on the beach with beautiful sunrise views and easy access to the beach with a ramp. Beach is public but there are no houses surrounding this one giving it a more private feel. The rooms easily accommodated my large family with each room having its own full bathroom. Andrew the host was accessible via text. Overall we had a great time!
Cons: the house was having non-weather related electrical issues during our stay with power going in and out, causing flickering of lights, AC not working properly on the first floor, and appliances (Washer/dryer) not able to start. This also caused several of the TVs in the house to reset every few minutes. Water has a slight smell, so bring bottled water. When these issues are fixed the house will be a 5/5.
The property was excellent for our use. We had about 35 folks staying overnight and a few more show up during the day. The facility was superb in supporting our various interactions, where because we were all under one roof, incidental and random conversations and meetings were the norm, which really facilitated our ability to reconnect and catch up. The large kitchen facilities (and grill below) were fantastic, making large scale food prep and clean up quite simple. We even used the theater to watch a movie one evening, and various sporting events during the day (Astros lost - unfortunately). Parking was plentiful and the large deck space and proximity to the beach was wonderful. Many strong and positive opinions about the place and already discussions to book the same facility in one or two years for another reunion. Thanks for allowing us to use this place.
The Anchor is the perfect home for a big family where everyone needs their own space and a private bathroom. We've had a family summer vacation in Surfside or Galveston for over 50 years. We've outgrown most of the houses, and, until this year, all the big places we stayed in were cramped and involved a lot of bedroom and bathroom sharing. In this home, every family has their OWN bathrooom and a nice sized bedroom in which to spread out. There is a central AC system that works great, AND many of the rooms also have their own little unit with temp control. And ceiling fans! Beds are comfy. The living spaces and kitchen are spacious, as pictured. The game room and theatre room are an incredible bonus! The massive porch/porches! with covered areas and comfortable seating are awesome for morning coffee and evening gatherings. And the newly built walkover bridge allows for smooth travel between house and beach. The kitchen has everything you need and washer and dryer work well. This house doesn't have any neighbors around it, so the open space is beautiful and peaceful. The sunsets on the bay behind the house are GORGEOUS.You can see the bay from many of the windows in the house, too. Some family members fished back there on their kayaks. (Yes, we had fresh redfish for dinner!) Owner communicated well. (Thanks, Andrew!) Fast wifi!! As expected with all the rain prior to our arrival, mosquitos were the only negative. But they won't keep us away. We hope to be back next year! 5 stars!
