Hidden Gem on the prairie, a house of light and ease
Forget your worries in this spacious and serene space. Get away from it all and immerse yourself in nature from the comfort of a distinctive modernist home, where floor-to-ceiling windows and soaring ceilings bring the outdoors in, affording endless views across the rolling landscape of fields, woodlands, and wildlife.
Greet sunrise from the expansive bedroom with two luxe queen-sized tempurpedic beds, one with massage functions. Unwind in the spa-like ambiance, with two bathrooms separated by a unique, open double shower featuring multiple jets and hand-held shower heads. Luxuriate alone or with your partner in the deep, two-person tub with jets.
Enjoy meals at the large handmade table in the spacious, open-plan kitchen/dining/living room. Begin your day with eggs fresh from the chicken coop. The chef’s kitchen is fully equipped and generously provisioned with beyond-basic cooking essentials.
A large, cushy sectional sofa beckons for reading and conversation, but don’t feel surprised if you fall into a dreamy nap. Or kick back on the deck, shaded by live oaks. Count the variety of birds flying by or stopping at the feeders. The resident deer tends to wander by every afternoon; you can feed her by hand if you like.
While most guests come to unwind, unplug, and recharge, the library does have a television set with access to the internet through your phone, numerous vintage dvds and cds, and a fabulous collection of books. WE HAVE NO WI-FI. UNPLUG, RELAX, and INTERACT with NATURE and EACH OTHER.
Hidden Gem encompasses 30 acres. Explore the rolling landscape on rustic trails mowed through woods and fields, along streams and ponds. Marvel at the architectural follies and large-scale sculptures strewn across the land. Stroll through our extensive gardens.
There are four private homes spread across on the property, each with their own acreage. Your guesthouse is set away from the others in a private glade. You’ll be left to enjoy your own space, but your hosts will be on call should you need assistance with anything.
Hidden Gem is the perfect place to put away your devices, disconnect, and recharge your mind. Cell phone and internet access is very weak to non-existent at the guest house.

Our church booked this property for our guest pastor to stay at when he was visiting to preach a revival. He LOVED the property! He enjoyed the serene surroundings with all of the windows, the wrap-around porch and the privacy the property offered. He sent pictures to his family and his wife was envious of the bathrooms!
The host was welcoming; the house is on a beautiful piece of property and has everything you need; and it is close to everywhere we wanted to go (Washington-on-the-Brazos, Navasota and Brenham). Recommend for a couple or a girls' weekend.
I found myself singing a Keith Urban song in my head during my stay, which I think describes the feeling of this rental:
"Gonna kick off my shoes and run in bare feet
Where the grass and the dirt and the gravel all meet
Goin' back to the well, gonna visit old friends
And feed my soul where the blacktop ends"

Richelle is a perfect guest. She is certainly welcome back.
Everything was great there were fresh eggs, honey, and vegetables waiting on the counter. The home was very unique the design and architecture was amazing. The only thing I wish was done, if they mowed a trail around the house, I realized the wildflowers were blooming but a path to walk out of the high grass would have been a plus. Also if the trails that they mapped out were mowed the wives might have wanted to take a walk. But overall a great hidden gem to relax away from the city noise.
Great place!
From the start the host was great and communicative, and we were able to check in and check out at times that worked great for us. The house itself was wonderful, very different from what I'm used to.
Definitely beware with the wifi, as warned this house is not set up for that, so drive out to a coffee shop in Navasota if you need to work.
The full on floor to ceiling windows with no curtains were quite the vibe, absolutely lovely during the day. Thank you for the eyemasks! Double shower was awesome, and just the overall aesthetic of everything in the house was dope
Thanks so much
I couldn’t believe how wonderful this house was when we walked in! That was my first WOW moment! As we toured the rest of the home all I could say/think was “WOW.” I had never seen anything like this. We spent 5 nights, never ate a meal outside of the house. With no tv, we watched the birds at the bird feeder, listened to the wonderful library of music. We just unplugged. The antiques and the architectural elements of this house were mind blowing. We hope to return very soon! Another thing I’d like to point out is this is very handicap/wheelchair accessible. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This beautiful house was empty and needed some life in it. Each guest is unique and interesting, adding a new perspective on the property.
What makes this property unique
This property has been a plantation, a freedom colony, a crafts school, and an early organic gardening school. The beautiful and diverse plant community here is a result of not being grazed since 1970.
